    Many interesting comments!
I'll do a bit of analysis later. But.....first impressions, it seems like we are all a bit in the dark!
Like Jesus said: "Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father" Mk 13:32.
Huh! Don't you hate it when someone's always right???

True, but not about the people in the picture. It was true of the number of generations in Matthew chapter 1.
    14+14+14=42
(Unless these three people are galaxy hitchhikers.)

All sorts of hedge funds, money and stock funds. Trust entities. Building, buying and selling real estates. That all produce money for spending.
Money from members, from kid who "sold chicken" and gave half money to society or from kid who change her mind and not going to "ice-cream after Sunday morning KH meeting" :((((.
Choose whatever source. All come to Money Department where managers and bookkeeping stuff take orders from "above" and share and spend somebody else's money.
Nothing is free in "Spiritual Paradise", not even a free of charge magazine. You pay all that. With money, with emotions, with intellect, with freedom, with soul, with psyche, with free labour. With life.

There is no consistent meaning to a generation in the Bible?
    Of course there is!
It's the same consistent meaning everyone has EVER used .. no matter what time or place they lived in since humanity started counting its years ... and counting its children.
" A generation is the time between ONE statistically average persons'  birth, and his death. ".
Except the Society's Governing Body ...  to TRY and validate a failed "prophesy" of "Millions Now Living Will Never Die", starting in 1914 .... which is 103 YEARS AGO.
..... and keep the money rolling in.
To cherry pick data .. FIRST YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME CHERRIES.
There is NO scripture to support their idea.
Reality does NOT support their idea.
The common experience and definitions of the entire human race ... for all time ... and everywhere .. does NOT support their idea.
The overlapping generations idea is made up from THIN AIR.
It is supported by NOTHING except arrogance, and the desire not to have to get a REAL job of tedium and drudgery, or as old unemployable old men, push grocery carts with all their earthly possessions piled high, in the rain, on the streets of New York City.
    It's NOT about TRUTH.
    It's about MONEY!

Hi! All of you who are or have been member of JW church for longer period are  very well aware of fact that every explanation on "the generation" issue through long decades that passed, was been "logic" and supported with "logical reasoning", "reasonable explanation", and in some of them, as in this last one, WT GB told people that "Jesus referred", "Jesus was thought". So by such sort of claiming in using Jesus authority, as GB often doing using JHVH name too, when want to strengthen, to boost, to support own idea,  ordinary, uninspired, imperfect and error human, earthly ideas and theories from WT "bible scholars" - nothing good can come from that. Only another seduction and deception.

So, not a single scripture that shows Jesus understood a "generation" to be as currently defined by the Governing Body.

Anything that is not THAT, is looking into an empty basket, and seeing it overflowing with wisdom ... a self induced FANTASY

NEWSFLASH !,  Jesus understood a generation to be the EXACT same way that EVERYBODY in HIS time understood it ... All civilization marks he time between one statistically average persons' birth and his death .. ONE GENERATION.

That is the way it has ALWAYS been understood ... since civilization began and they started counting years, AND counting children.

THIS IS HOW JESUS UNDERSTOOD ONE GENERATION !

That is the way EVERYBODY, and I do mean EVERYBODY that is not delusional and trying to CYA with a fantasy explanation understands it now.

    THOSE ARE THE FACTS.

You can have overlapping generations between peoples, sure ... BUT THAT IS NOT THE SAME GENERATION..

It only takes ONE sentence and plain old common sense to understand this !

" A generation is the time between ONE statistically average persons'  birth and his death. ".

That's IT ... one simple sentence explains it all.

Every life Insurance company in the world will pay you the policy benefits specified when you reach 100 years of age, even though you have not actually died.

If you are alive at 100 years old, you get the money ... yourself!

Previous threads did answer those concerns, and yes, I did not like them, because ....
... I WAS LOOKING FOR CORRECT ANSWERS that conform to REALITY !

Looking at those charts, graphs and formulas ... they made no sense to me WHATSOEVER, and I made my living doing math for about 40 years, but not this complicated. ( I could have done better if wearing open-toed sandals..).
While we were out in Service, I asked the smartest brother (seriously) at the Kingdom Hall I go to,  if he could explain the new and improved "this generation..." to me.
He was thoughtful for  several moments, and said: "I think they are trying to do the best they can...".
I thought about showing this post to my wife, Susan, who is a high school math teacher, to see if she could decipher them ... but I suspect her reply would be similar to Albert Einstein's reply when asked if he understood the U.S. Internal Revenue Service Tax Code ... " I am a mathematician .. NOT a philosopher".
By the way .... I have included a Feynman Diagram  that stumped Sheldon Cooper on the Season 1, episode 13 of the TV comedy "The Big Bang Theory", which is a LOT EASIER TO FIGURE OUT.  The answer is reported to be " minus 8 pi alpha" .
You can see almost instantly see they they misinterpreted some of the variables.
( For those in Rio Linda, That was a JOKE! )
UPDATE:  Susan just walked in and saw the "equation" and got upset and said it was all "Mush".
That reminded me of the famous "Drake Equation" ( go ahead.. look it up.. it's worth the effort )  that will accurately predict how many intelligent civilizations currently exist in the Milky Way Galaxy, or the Universe.
IF ( if! ) you plug into the equation the correct set of values.
That is the same problem that exists with EVERYTHING previous to this post.
Since there is no evidence ANYONE has the correct values ... to either philosophy .. and that is what they are ... philosophy ... it's all a wild-assed guess (WAG).
    No more.
    MUSH

    Not quite.
Reporting on the fact that Austria had implemented the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights of July 2008 regarding recognition of Jehovah's Witnesses in Austria, the news source, derstandard.at,  stated that:
    "It's not over yet"
    8 May 2009, 12:43
Recognition is "milestone, anyway, Jehovah's Witnesses demand change in the legal situation
Vienna - After their recognition as a religious community, the Jehovah's Witnesses continue to pose a change in the legal situation. The recognition is a "milestone", Walter Schneeweiß, a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses board, on Friday at a press conference.
    http://derstandard.at/1241622251341/Zeugen-Jehovas-Es-ist-noch-lange-nicht-zu-Ende
The Austrian Jehovah's Witnesses website also mentions this report.
    https://www.jehovas-zeugen.at/Presseschau.19.0.html
So it appears legal recognition obligates to some communal participation as a state recognised religion. Attendance at this meeting of 09June 2009, coming hot on the heels of the announcement of recognised status the previous month, was probably judged as expedient at the time. Walter Schneeweiß represented the branch.

Regarding earthly riches Jesus taught just the opposite of what the Watchtower practices.
He carried a money bag to give to the poor.  He turned over the money tables on the temple steps, shouting, “stop turning my father’s house into a marketplace!”  John 2:16
He said, “sell your belongings and give to the poor”.  As the Wt. sells KHs, do they “give back” to those in need?  Or…do they invest in more shady stocks, like those in the the link I provided?  The GB reside in comfort, their physical needs are met.  Why are they any more worthy than anyone else, to receive physical comfort?  Jesus, who had nowhere to lay his head, said “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”  Luke 18:25
The leaders will tell you with apparent sincerity that the example of Jesus is what you, as a sheep should display.  So, you give to what you think is the true need – the organization.   Along with you, are thousands digging into their pockets and who will not be eating three meals a day as the GB does, or sleeping in plush surroundings as the GB does.  These poor ones will save from their want to serve the needs of the organization.
The Wt leaders are to be walking in Jesus’ footsteps, even to the point of denying oneself. Matt 16:24   Clearly, they have left that path and desire all that the world’s riches can provide them; including power and prestige.   Didn’t Jesus say to love one’s neighbor as yourself?  By doing so, wouldn’t the needs of the other person become paramount?
“Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”  Luke 6:38
The flock is fleeced not only monetarily, but spiritually.  Rev 3:17,18

    Witness:
I remember about 11 years ago that one of the Society's investments in the armamants industry was financing the development of "hive mind" swarm of military drones that could be dropped from a plane, and each could pick a target, and tell the others not to hit that same target.
I wonder whatever happened to that program?
I should have been horrified, but I was not .. I was fascinated with the technology.
The Society should have been horrified, but they were not ... they were fascinated with the money.
    I understand that.

The rewards program goes like this, as an example ...
The JW singer Prince (PBUH) contributed about $38 thousand dollars a month to his local Kingdom Hall.  Most of this was sent to Brooklyn, which was then the JW Headquarters.
In exchange, he lived a lifestyle, and had associates both personal and professional that you and I would be disfellowshipped for.
When he died of drug overdose, you could almost hear the salivating over his estate across State lines.
You have heard that after you die, you have to pay for your sins?
Down here on Earth there is an unofficial "good ol' boys" price list.
And don't even get me STARTED about the Australian JW Michael Jackson Day Care Centers!

There's a recent Watchtower study edition on this very topic.  “The Generous Person Will Be Blessed”  11/2017, pp. 18,19
Quote:  "We can be assured that “the generous person will be blessed.” Moreover, when we give our valuable things (monetary valuables, of course) to Jehovah, we honor him.—Prov. 3:9;22:9."
Not according to Jesus, or his apostles.
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”  Matt 19:21
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."  Matt 6:24
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." 1 Tim 6:10
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."  1 Tim 6:17-19
Obviously, the GB has it all wrong.
"Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless."  Eccl 5:10
