  1. Where I live, official stats reckon that 75% of under 30s have no religious thought at any time. I would concur from experience that this a likely proportion, and many 30-50 year olds are not far behind. However, the questions that our tracts provide a spritual answer to, they have all the time. It is just that they do not look to a God to provide answers to them. I think the tracts provide a very useful function in that they offer a route rather than an argument. When presented with our alternative view on things, if a person is delivering the message, then the receiver has to capitulate. That is not always a pleasant experience, especially for younger persons who may suffer from a measure of insecurity. The tracts offer the same solutions as we do when witnessing, but without comment or valuation on an erroneous view. The experience is private and much less painful. Then when one of us arrives with the question " Have You Ever Wondered? then the householder may well have done so at some time even if they can't remember the tract that triggered the thought. They work, as my own experience confirms. We don't have to like them, but we cannot deny their effectiveness. Let's face it, medicine doesn't have to taste good in order to do it's job. Wisdom is proved righteous by it's works, not it's appearance.
  2. And I thought it was an Eden Iguana! https://encircleworldphotos.photoshelter.com/image/I0000Cii27nwox5w
  3. I suppose most of us feel that we want to make some sort of impression when we witness to people. I don't mean "impress" in the sense of "bigging ourselves up" (although, sadly, maybe some seek to do this), more in the sense that we want them to take note of what we are sharing with them. We do actually care about the people we talk to and the fact that the way of life we recommend will bring them immediate benefits, let alone the promises for the future. I currently study with a former heroin user. They are almost clear of drug dependency now, on a managed program, and this will be completed by the end of summer. This is completely due to motivation from Jehovah, provided through the Bible Study program, and in the year's duration of the study there have been no relapses to the amazement of support workers. Tobacco, cannabis, and other substance abuse have also been left behind. To see the tangible benefits enjoyed by this person physically, mentally, and spiritually as they get their life back is a real joy. So it does not matter what method or media is used to bring a person into contact with Jehovah and the healing power of his spirit as expressed through his living word. (Heb.4:12). "True worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth". Remember, "the Father is looking for such like ones to worship him".John 4:24. Don't underestimate the power of a tract to spark a fire in an honest heart that cannot be put out . (Compare James 3:5: "See how small a fire it takes to set a great forest ablaze"). My first encounter with Jehovah's Witnesses was by means of a tract that got into my house. It escaped my mother's predatory Roman Catholic surveilance of all things sans Imprimatur and fell into my curious hands. The information it presented piqued my curiosity for the next 12 years until I finally sourced a contact with those who had produced it. Oh yes, it may fall into the category of literature that now embarasses the likes of John Butler, but for me it was the key to a better life with immediate benefits, and a future hope. Here is an extract from the tract. What intrigued me most was who on earth were these sheep that Jesus died for, and what was the creature in the tree with Adam and Eve? From the day I got that tract, I registered every media mention (and otherwise) of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I never met one until finally I sought them out over 12 years later. I was 8 years old when I got that first tract.
  4. Yeah. I agree. This NM gig is really stupid . And what do the cops do? Distracting motorists? I mean are they standing in the intersect, trying to disrupt traffic? Bit like those unsolicited windscreen cleaners or something? oops...here they go....
  5. Quite so. And the most economic. Why use a bone that needs replacement when there is one that will grow back?
  6. We have got a great way to minimise our Not-At-Homes. We've been doing it for years: Not Homes.mp4
  7. This is quite frankly drivel! It is a glossary, not a theological encyclopedia. Chief Agent. The Greek term basically means “Chief Leader.” It refers to the essential role of Jesus Christ in freeing faithful humans from the deadly effects of sin and in leading them to everlasting life.—Ac 3:15; 5:31; Heb 2:10; 12:2. Christ. The title of Jesus, from the Greek word Khri·stosʹ, which is equivalent to the Hebrew word translated “Messiah,” or “Anointed One.”—Mt 1:16; Joh 1:41 Anyone who really wants to know who Jesus is can get a precise understanding from reading the Scriptures. Don't underestimate the tenacity of those who realy seek truth. They will want to get more detail and reasoning on the matter. They will not be satisfied with a simple Glossary of Bible terms definition. If they want to do this using a website that "is one of the busiest ones on the internet", then a simple search will give a choice of 6,584 articles. Why not try?: Jesus Christ Perhaps then God may give you too "repentance leading to an accurate knowledge of truth." 2Tim.2:25
  8. This a ridiculous assumption. There are several Glossaries available. This particular one appears not to follow the general principle that a Glossary is normally a list of terms and concepts. So what? There is nothing significant about this.
  9. This is an old chestnut complaint that raises it's head every now and again. The messgae of Scripture remains powerful and true, and will, if understood and applied correctly, enable the bereaved one to not "sorrow as the rest do" 1Thess.4:13. But....I think it is entirely insensitive and lacking in empathy to try and exploit bereavement. Presenting this information in an insensitive manner is equivalent to slaking a parched man's thirst with a water cannon. It just hurts!
  10. Seems that a glossary differs from an encyclopedia in that it is an alphabetical list of terms. Biographical information is only included when it is relevant to explaining the use of what might be considered a personal name in a terminological sense. For example some background biogaphy is necessary to understand the use of the name "Jacob" as a term for the nation descended from him. Terms such as Christ, Christian, Chief Agent, Firstborn etc are defined as they are terms. The name Jehovah is viewed by some as a term not having personal significance. That is clarified in this glossary. There is no need do do the same for the personal name of God's Son, Jesus, as his name has not become a "term" in the sense of being "a word or phrase used to describe a thing or to express a concept". If this was a Glossary relating to the Roman Catolic Church, then there might be a case for including the name as it relates to the term "Jesuit". Or indeed the word "Trinity" as it relates to the peculiar concept of the nature of God held by many members of that denomination. Of course, these terms have no relevance whatsoever to the Holy Scriptures.
  11. Very sad to hear of your loss Mr Schulz. I have read the entire available content of truthhistory with fascination and a degree of awe at its detail. I am delighted I was able to contribute even a tiny speck regarding my friend Ruth Fenwick (née. Ling). I really appreciate your expert dispatching of the various early day myths so delighted in by critics of the movement. I wish you had the time to cast the same discerning eye over some of the fanciful tales told in these later times. Your (and Rachael's) disciplined and rational approach has been an education to me. I am eagerly awaiting the publication of your next volume of Separate Identity, and wish you every success in your endeavours, despite the loss of your co-worker.
  12. Who said: "I do feel a bit foolish having wasted years of my life believing all of it's lies and deceit, but I congratulate myself for not being frightened to ask questions and do research for myself." Who said: "They turn themselves into "once-duped" but now "enlightened"victims to gain sympathy and acclaim from their newfound peers."
  13. You surely don't compare your situation with that of Paul's conversion to Christianity do you? Is that the result of your "having studied the bible" yourself? The only similarity apparent is what Jesus said at Acts 26:14. I think you will find that those who "go out" from the Christian congregation due to being of the "wrong sort" actualy fit the description of those in Jesus' illustration of the dragnet as "unsuitable fish" (wrong sort). They are thrown out by the angels, regardless of any illusion they might have of leaving of their own volition. But then of course, as to an individual judgement of such ones, jthe final estimation of their actual worth lies with Jehovah and the man he has appointed. With the right heart, they can still return if they become the right sort. (Of course, even that is by Jehovah's permission as it is he that "draws" men to Christ). However you want to view it, you are not of our sort at present, and the generally patronising tone and insulting content of these postings you make suggest a heart that is abundant in rather unpleasant things at the moment. You and your former congregation are better off the way things are currently. Likely. the same applies to the video makers in the original posting.
  14. That seems to be the trouble with those who apostatize in this manner. They were idolators themselves, but having realised it, they just can't come clean and admit it, they have to accuse everyone else in the organisation they have now renounced of the very practice they themselves engaged in. They turn themselves into "once-duped" but now "enlightened"victims to gain sympathy and acclaim from their newfound peers. Their self-appointed crusade might provide some temporary relief for the resentment and embarrassment they feel, but needs constant repetition. The sad thing is that they think they left the organisation they now oppose. But, actually, they were rejected. 1John 2:19: "They went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us. But they went out so that it might be shown that not all are of our sort."
  15. an antitype can also mean "a person or thing that is foreshadowed or represented by a type or symbol, esp a character or event in the New Testament prefigured in the Old Testament" Dictionary.com
  16. This is an improvement It is absolutely essential that anyone becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses is informed in advance, and realises what they are letting themselves in for. They will become a target for defamation, criticism, specific discrimination, and a whole range of insulting and derogatory rhetoric, exemplified by some of the jibing type remarks found even on this site. As Jesus said: "Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake." Matt. 5:11.
  17. Great to see pedophilia, abuse and it's supporters being hounded and rooted out of wherever they have wormed their parasitic way. All power to this last stand on the frontiers of morality by an otherwise bankrupt and decaying civilisation!
  18. Those who hate sharing Jehovah's word with others often end up hating those who love to do it.
  19. Are you seriously asking such an ill-informed question? Or are you just quoting something that you have read without thinking about what this demonstrates? Children have a lot more spontaneous sense than many adults, including whoever formulated such a question as this. Indeed, contrary to those who would seek to muzzle them, such children have the approval of both Jehovah and His Glorious Son, Jesus Christ as recorded at: Ps 8:2: "Out of the mouths of children and infants you have established strength" and Matt.21:15-16:"When the chief priests and the scribes saw the marvelous things he did and the boys who were shouting in the temple, “Save, we pray, the Son of David!” they became indignant and said to him: “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them: “Yes. Did you never read this, ‘Out of the mouth of children and infants, you have brought forth praise’?”
