I can't make sense of your objection here, AnonymousBrother . John does not allude to the issue of circumcision in his 2nd letter. Surely we are agreed on that? I also said that John talks about staying in the teaching of Christ. So we are agreed on that. I made no interpretation regarding 'the teaching of Christ' but I did ask a question about what actually was the 'teaching of Christ.'

I  found  that :  Jesus had promised to be with his followers in their meeting together (Mt 18:20), and he also assured them that he would be ‘with them’ in their discipling work “all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” (Mt 28:19, 20) The pa·rou·siʹa of Matthew 24:3 and related texts, of course, must signify something beyond this. It clearly relates to a special presence, one involving and affecting all earth’s inhabitants and inseparably connected with Jesus’ expression of full authority as King anointed by God.

There are some weaknesses with the 'two destinies' idea, however.
If all true Christians in the 1st century were 'anointed,' what changed?
Regarding the weaknesses that center on Rev. 7 ...
    1. Rev. 7's numbers 12 x 12,000 are understood to be symbolic, but it is insisted that the total number 144,000 is literal. This is inconsistent.
    2. When Rev. 7 is read more closely, the 144k group are on earth; otherwise, why are the four angels told to hold back the destructive winds until the 144k are sealed? Cp. Rev. 9:4.
    3. When Rev. 7 is read more closely, the envisioned 'great crowd' is seen in the same heavenly location as the four living creatures, angels and 24 elders. On what contextual basis can we argue that the 'great crowd' is in a different location to the four living creatures, angels and 24 elders?
One viable interpretation is that the 144,000 and 'great crowd' is the same group seen from a different perspective. John hears a schematic number (7:4) but sees the reality (7:9). Cp. Rev 5:5, 6 (John hears a description of Jesus but sees Jesus' appearance).

Jehovah's Witnesses believe salvation is a free gift from God attained by being part of "God's organization" and putting faith in Jesus' ransom sacrifice. They do not believe in predestination or eternal security. They believe in different forms of resurrection for two groups of Christians. One group, the anointed, go to heaven while the other group, "the other sheep" or "the great crowd" will live forever on earth.
    Basis
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that salvation is possible only through Christ’s ransom sacrifice[1] and that individuals cannot be saved until they repent of their sins and call on the name of Jehovah.[2] Salvation is described as a free gift from God, but is said to be unattainable without good works that are prompted by faith. The works prove faith is genuine.[3][4] Preaching is said to be one of the works necessary for salvation, both of themselves and those to whom they preach.[5] They believe that people can be "saved" by identifying God's organization and serving God as a part of it.[6]
The Witnesses reject the doctrine of universal salvation,[7] as well as that of predestination or fate. They believe that all intelligent creatures are endowed with free will. They regard salvation to be a result of a person's own decisions, not of fate.[8] They also reject the concept of "once saved, always saved" (or "eternal security"), instead believing that one must remain faithful until the end to be saved.[9]
Regarding whether non-Witnesses will be "saved", they believe that Jesus has the responsibility of judging such ones, and that no human can judge for themselves who will be saved. Based on their interpretation of Acts 24:15, they believe there will be a resurrection of righteous and unrighteous people. They believe that non-Witnesses alive now may attain salvation if they "begin to serve God".[10][11]

    The 'anointed'
Based on their understanding of scriptures such as Revelation 14:1-4, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that exactly 144,000 faithful Christians go to heaven to rule with Christ in the kingdom of God. They, with Jesus, will also perform priestly duties that will bring faithful mankind to perfect health and 'everlasting life'.[12]They believe that most of those are already in heaven, and that the "remnant" at Revelation 12:17 (KJV) refers to those remaining alive on earth who will be immediately resurrected to heaven when they die. The Witnesses understand Jesus’ words at John 3:3—"except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"—to apply to the 144,000 who are "born again" as "anointed" sons of God in heaven.[13] They teach that the New Testament, which they refer to as the Christian Greek Scriptures, is primarily directed to the 144,000, and by extension, to those associated with them.[14] They believe that the terms "Israel of God" (Galatians 6:16), "little flock" (Luke 12:32), "New Jerusalem," and "the bride, the Lamb's wife" (Revelation 21:2,9) in the New Testament also refer to the same group of "anointed" Christians.[15][16][17]
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that being 'anointed' involves a personal revelation by God's spirit which "gives positive assurance of adoption" to the individual alone.[18] Members who claim to be anointed are not given special treatment by other congregation members.[19] However, only those in the anointed class partake of the unleavened bread and wine at the yearly commemoration of Christ's death, or Memorial.

Were all the anointed resurrected to heavenly life in 1918?

The 'other sheep' and the 'great crowd'
Watch Tower Society literature states that Jesus' use of the term "other sheep" at John 10:16 was intended to indicate that the majority of his followers were not part of the 144,000 and would have an earthly, rather than heavenly, hope.[20][21] In the resurrection, those who died faithful to God are included in the 'other sheep' and will receive the "resurrection of the righteous" ("just" KJV) mentioned in Acts 24:15.[22] Those who died without faithfully serving God will receive the "resurrection of the ... unrighteous" ("unjust" KJV). They will be given an opportunity to gain God's favor and join Jesus' 'other sheep' and live forever in an earthly paradise.[23][24] Individuals unfavorably judged by God are not resurrected, and are said to be in Gehenna, which they consider to be a metaphor for eternal destruction.[25] Those of the 'other sheep' who are alive today, some of whom survive through Armageddon without needing a resurrection, are referred to as the 'great crowd'.[26][27]
Jesus is not the mediator for the other sheep.

'Jehovah' is just the anglicized version of the Name which was adapted from the Latin version of it. Many other languages don't have the hard English 'J' sound anyway - they have a 'Y' (ya) sound instead (like the Hebrew letter 'yod'). The 'W' is from the Hebrew letter which is pronounced 'vav.'
Whether the original Hebrew Name consisted of two or three syllables, and which are the correct vowels ... that's for people with far better knowledge than I to debate. But what we have is an approximation.
Imho, sometimes people can become too obsessed with trying to figure out the 'correct' pronunciation. If pronouncing the Name 'just so' was that important, you'd think the method would have been preserved in the Bible for posterity.

Γιαννης Διαμαντιδης reacted to AnonymousBrother in How can we be sure that Gods Name is Jehovah?
The exact pronunciation is not known anymore. So, as to the validity of "Jehovah".
It only applies in the languages it was defined as. How, you wonder? Let's take "fire".
Is that the original pronunciation of what we know as fire by the being that first mentioned it? We can 99.999999999999999% guarantee it is *not*. So. Is "fire" the incorrect word for fire? By the reasoning some want to apply, the answer is "yes." Which means, pretty much, no-one in he world knows what they are talking about and are speaking gibberish.
That is where we have "transliteration" and "translation". YHWH is incorrect. Why? The Tetragrammaton is *not written in modern Romanized characters.* YHWH is *not* God's name, *by any means.*
It is an attempt to use existing character combinations with an aproximate sound to the word in another language. In the case of YHWH, this is even *more* incorrect, since the pronunciation is not being transliterated, but raw characters, whose pronunciation in that particular combination in their native language *no longer exists.* This brings us to "translation". To use an example, if you ever meet a Korean with the name "Lee", "Lee" is *not* his name. It is a *translation*. His real name, in accurate *transliteration* is "Ee". Lim is really "Him" without the "H" sound. Mr. Park has no "r" in his real name. I am sure you also have many examples.
Which, now, brings us back to Jehovah and English.
Until the time of Tyndale, no one had translated the original Hebrew texts into English. Yet, there is a word there that occurs about 7000 times, the concept and exact match of which the English language *does not have*.  Now, since *no one alive then or now* knows *how* that word is pronounced, Tyndale could have written Spongebob with a notation on the front that "Spongebob" is how he will represent the Tetragrammaton in his *translation*, because, with the pronunciation of the original *not known* he *cannot* transliterate. But, instead, he noticed that "Jeova" was being used elsewhere and why, so, rather than pick "Spongebob" he picked Jehovah (modern spelling. It was with an "i" before) and maintained some sort of reasoning for the translation.
And, of course, the reason Tyndale had to make a translation in the first place has its origins *with God.*
(ASV) Genesis 11:9 Therefore was the name of it called Babel; because Jehovah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Jehovah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
As God did not reveal His Name until *after* the Babel episode, those who eventually learned English *had no native concept* of the meaning of God's name, therefore no equivalent word to the Tetragrammaton. They would have to come up with them when they ran into the concept. And, when Tyndale did, he coined
    "Jehovah"
to represent the Hebrew Tetragrammaton in the English language about 500 years ago. And, this fact is attested to, still, in dictionaries:
    British "Jehovah" in British English
     See all translations Jehovahnoun
UK   /dʒəˈhəʊ.və/  US   /dʒəˈhoʊ.və/        › the name of God used in the Old Testament of the Bible http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/jehovah
Now, you can call out "Korean Dude!" or "Mr. Lee!". But, Mr. "Ee" will appreciate you using his name, which, in English, is Mr. "Lee."
And that is how we view Jehovah, which, in Korean, is Yohowah, which, in ancient Hebrew is . . . The Tetragrammaton. But, you can use Yahweh (or one of the 50 different variations claiming to be the True Pronunciation) if you want: It is *still* wrong. When the New Kingdom arrives for good, I am sure the True Name will be in wide use, and all will have the correct pronunciation. But, until then, we are left with Jesus's words at John 17:26
(CEB) I’ve made your name known to them and will continue to make it known so that your love for me will be in them, and I myself will be in them.”
And that is a *critical* reason to be using God's Name, *however* it may have been translated into the language *God Himself* gave you.

I cannot agree more with Joe Smith.
When The Almighty spoke through Jeremiah about the future covenant, He said: "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts". If you want to keep a record of whom you visit and for how many hours is up to you. Now if you want to share this record with some earthly organization this is up to you too. But one thing is clear: Do not be good to others just because someone told you you must fill up some hours of visits. You must do it because the Law of the Almighty is in your heart not written in some paper.
If you ask my personal opinion ...  that is you can write this hours and every hour that glorifies JAH and His king our Lord Jesus.

Continue to do good and be blessed !

After reading your post, I read mine over and can see where it may have been a bit confusing. To be clear, I was dealing with REINSTATING (not removing) individuals who had been wrongly disfellowshipped by men who had something to hide and we reinstated them immediately when we had the facts. There was no mention in my reply that "as an elder you (we) in 'many cases' wrongly removed/dis fellowships brothers."  I believe I expressed that this type of situation is the exception rather than the rule - "relatively rarely."  I say "relatively" rarely because while rare in comparison to the total number, it is far more than most people would be comfortable with and not all that unusual if you've had enough experience.

    Luke 11:46
Jesus replied, "And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

According to William Barclay, the Talmud describes seven different types of Pharisees; six of the seven are bad.

    ·        The Shoulder Pharisee, who wore all his good deeds and righteousness on his shoulder for everyone to see.
    ·        The Wait-a-Little Pharisee, who always intended to do good deeds, but could always find a reason for doing them later, not now.
    ·        The Bruised or Bleeding Pharisee, who was so holy that he would turn his head away from any woman seen in public - and was therefore constantly bumping into things and tripping, thus injuring himself.
    ·        The Hump-Backed Pharisee, who was so humble that he walked bent over and barely lifting his feet - so everyone could see just how humble he was.
    ·        The Always-Counting Pharisee, who was always counting up his good deeds and believed that he put God in debt to him for all the good he had done.
    ·        The Fearful Pharisee, who did good because he was terrified that God would strike him with judgment if he did not.
    ·        The God-Fearing Pharisee, who really loved God and did good deeds to please the God he loved.

    b. Whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do: Jesus said that respect was due to the scribes and the Pharisees; not because of their conduct, but because they sit in Moses' seat. They should be respected because they hold an office of authority, ordained by God.

    i. "Let not the law of God lose its authority with you because of these wicked men." (Poole)

ii. Moses' seat: "Synagogues had a stone seat at the front where the authoritative teacher [sat]." (Carson) "The Jews spoke of the teacher's seat as we speak of a professor's chair." (Bruce)

    c. They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders: The scribes and Pharisees were bad examples because they expected more of others than they did of themselves. They set heavy burdens on others, yet they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

    d. Heavy burdens: The burden of the religious leaders contrasts sharply to Jesus' burden. His burden is light, and His yoke is easy (Matthew 11:30). These religious leaders were burden bringers; Jesus was a burden taker.

    i. The first accusation against these religious leaders could apply to many religious leaders today. Many teach as if the essence of Christianity were a set of burdensome rules to follow.

ii. The early church rejected this legalism when it insisted that obedience to the Mosaic Law is not a foundation for the Christian life. Peter told the legalists in Acts 15:10: "Why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

You shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: The religious leaders kept people from the kingdom of heaven by making human traditions and human religious rules more important than God's Word. This was clearly seen in the way that they opposed and rejected Jesus; if they had opened the kingdom of heaven to men, they would have welcomed and received Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God.
You devour widows' houses: Using clever and dishonest dealing, the scribes and Pharisees stole widows' houses - careful to cover it up in the name of good business or stewardship. [A constant call for donations ...mmmm ]
You travel land and sea to win one proselyte: Their zeal in evangelism did not prove they were right with God. These religious leaders went to great lengths to win others, but they brought people to darkness, not light.
When he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves: Through their great energy they could win some, but to no lasting good to those who were won.

"Their business was not to turn men from sin unto God, but merely to convert them to an opinion."

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!"
Do you perceive something of your own behaviour in the above??

Dear Eoin Joyce thank you for your comment but the scriptures (Ecclesiastes 7:8) you provided was Out of topic.
Dear housedoctor many questions indeed, but you are wrong about the "There is no specific time given before a person might be reinstated". The watchtower is clear : "one year" (Watchtower 1963 Aug 1 p.473).|
Dear  Librarian thank you for your comment but again as a person from north Greece that I am, I would like some scriptural proof.
Dear anke adolphi your name means sister in my language. Nice to know that in Germany Brothers are suffering dearly but my question remains.
Dear Raymond Sommerfeldt nice to know how some Brothers are suffering down under. Since you mention that "Jehovah then is the final judge" I would like seeing you using HIS word for once.
Dear Santo Mengoli, from what you 've said I doubt if you ever read the scriptures. You say "The elders on the judicial committee, as an act of love, will not discuss the details of the case even with other elders on the body." where you found this on the scriptures? are you bringing new teachings? I suggest you to read both the old and new testament where you will find that the "judicial committees" were held in the gates of the city and later in front of all the congregation."Since the local court was situated at the city gates, there was no question about the trial being public! (Deut. 16:18-20) No doubt the public trials helped influence the judges toward carefulness and justice, qualities that sometimes vanish in secret star-chamber hearings." Watchtower 1981 Jan 1 p.17 ....also read the book new Creation pages 289-290....and the Awake magazine (8-1-1947 p 27).
Dear b4ucuhear thank you for admitting that you was an elder and in many cases you wrongly removed/disfellowshipped brothers. in a case like this and because the flock belongs to Christ I think all elders responsible for the lose of even one of the little ones know exactly what to do. (If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea) - Matthew 18:6, Luke 17:2, Mark 9:42.

As has been correctly mentioned, there are a number of factors that come into play.  The notoriety of the infraction, the gravity of it, the level of repentance...
There is another point that could be made here that elders in particular may want to be careful over.  I have personally been on committees and know of more than several other cases where the person was wrongly removed or disfellowshipped.  When they moved to another congregation they maintained their innocence and that they were wrongly removed/disfellowshipped.  Since it was assumed that the originating letter was factual, it appeared the individuals were not humbly accepting discipline from Jehovah and remained disfellowshipped for years.  It became apparent however that the brother was doing everything he should and was faithful. To make a long story short.  The originating later was not truthful, it was malicious and we reinstated the brother immediately.  Sometimes removal or disfellowshipping has been used as a club to keep whistleblowers quite.  In one case the whole body that originated the removal/bad letter regarding the whistleblower was disfellowshipped for being involved in some very bad/immoral behaviour - as it was found out years later he was telling the truth - but it had been his word against theirs.  That is not to put into question the scriptural foundation of disfellowshipping unrepentant wrongdoers, but simply to realize that as humans, this is at times an imperfect process and at other times - although relatively rarely, used for nefarious purposes.  For those who do experience the type of things most wouldn't even want to hear about, remember who is the final judge and our dedication and loyalty is to Jehovah despite what well-meaning although imperfect (or at times wicked) men may do.  For those (most) others, remember that whom Jehovah loves, he disciplines.  Appreciate loving scriptural counsel as a gift (even if temporarily painful) that will put you on the path to everlasting life.

This is not a matter for discussion in this forum, or even between friends.  That is the Christian Way, where love rules.  There are no time rules and no Pharisaic approach.  The judicial committee will discuss lovingly with the disfellowshipped person what he needs to do to be reinstated and the truly repentant person will humbly and lovingly accept the counsel.  Discussing the matter outside of the judicial committee arrangement is not loving to the disfellowshippped person, the elders involved or our organisation.  The elders on the judicial committee, as an act of love, will not discuss the details of the case even with other elders on the body.

Several factors would need to be taken into consideration. How serious was the sin/offense? Is it well known with-in the congregation and general community? What was the attitude of the person when the person was approached either by another brother or the elders themselves? Circumstances that led up to the sin/act? There seems to be no time quota as such. In one congregation here in Tasmania one brother was re-instated after 3 months and in my own congregation, a brother had to wait for 7yrs 6 months, due to the wide spread results of his actions.  Acts of genuine repentance is the key and Holy Spirit guides the panel of elders dealing with the issue. Jehovah then is the final judge.

It does not give a rule for that. Our last Brother has to wait 3 years and 8 months.....  another Brother 18 months....  The last word has the Bethel, after talking with the Elders ! So I know from Germany.

The reason for the wait is what needs to be scriptural. And this a matter between your friend and the body of elders. If you are a baptized Jehovah's Witness, you should not be a party to those discussions. But it looks as if you can both look forward to your friend's reinstatement. Ecc.7:8.

@JW Insider Has the one year rule that I have heard about been around for about 10 years or so? Or am I mistaken. I have seen some reinstated in the past within months.

There is no specific time given before a person might be reinstated, It would depend on a lot of variables which only the person and body of elders would know about. For example, What kind of attitude did a person have during the meetings? Did they speak as if they disrespect the organization and the arrangement? What was the disfellowshipping for? How long was this person engaged in the activity? Were others in the congregation affected be their conduct? Is this person a repeat offender? Even if they stopped the activity, do they seem to realize the seriousness of the wrong conduct? Do they seem to be trully sorry for the misconduct? Are there any actions showing they are sincerely repentant? So to answer, every case is different.

"thank you dear brothers and all the Jehovah's witness comunity worlwide for trying to protect us from bad cats !"
    It's not the cats.
It's the parasites.  One reason for posting the article is to properly inform people. Try reading it. Against all odds, you might actually learn something.
