I know what you mean, Space Merchant.
There's a whole lot of die hard Patriot loyalists where I live also. From the Tom Brady jerseys right down to the team logo on their houses, car windows,  and fleshly tattoos []. So, I know what field service is gonna be like for the rest of the week; maybe month......As long as no one brings up the Phillies win or even mention the Phillies at all.
Grumpy Ol' Men and Women, and grumpy young people too. People can get really caught up in the fervor of losing. They can even start throwing things at you.......Boy; I better duck like G.W.Bush did when a pair of shoes came flying at him during a press conference .

AbigailSensefulOne got a reaction from Bible Speaks in Everyone Wants Love! It’s part of the Miracle of Jehovah God!
Wow! What a wonderful display of Jehovah's dynamic power in action! Amazing expression of God's love. He gives us a glimpse of His aquatic creations, just to be able to reach out and touch something as massive as a whale - So COOL!  It just enthralls us! Just the balance of his attributes speaks volumes, doesn't it? Thank you for sharing, Bible Speaks !
Yes! We need love - that beautiful facet from Jehovah -  in our lives daily. We feed on love and it makes up prosper in so many ways; and it's contagious. We can't help but to reciprocate.  Without love,  we can spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally die from a broken heart. But we are not without rescue.
"Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit" - Psalm 34:18 [NWT]
And if we do not love at all, we are nothing but a walking band of noise.
"If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.  And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing"-1 Corinthians 13:1, 2 [ASV].
Thank you so much for this! I needed such a nice reminder.

AbigailSensefulOne reacted to TrueTomHarley in We Will Not be Able to Do it Perfectly
In the midst of Sunday’s study article on how we might batten down the hatches yet further on wrong conduct, was this frank statement:  ‘We will not be able to do that perfectly.’
No. We will not. Too many beat themselves up trying to do things perfectly. They ought not. Dust yourself off and jump back in the fray anew.
Also from that same study article, considered February 5:
‘For instance, a man tells his boss or fellow workers that he cannot be at work the next day or that he must leave early because he has a “medical” appointment. In fact, his “medical” appointment is merely a brief stop at a pharmacy or a quick visit to the doctor’s office to pay a bill. His real reason for not being at work is so that he can get a head start on a trip or so that he can take his family to the beach. There may have been a grain of truth in his mentioning a “medical” appointment, but would you say that he was being honest? Or was he being deceptive?’
The friends were intrigued over this point and many discussed it at the special Bible study meetings held at individual homes that  night.  Some were distracted, however,  by a football game playing in the background.

For me I have to, as well as others where I am, need to avoid my neighbor. For he is one of those die hard New England Patriot fans and since it is Monday, he is going to be grumpy for a couple of days.
He will go on and on about why his team should have won and what could have been done, and so forth, he is quite the talker.

Probably not; poor Brady had a hard time handling the ball; maybe it had concrete in it
Oh, and the NFL probably sees there's nothing's wrong with a football full of hot air either.

Considering the "deflate or not deflate" issue, I don't think there are any NFL rules against filling a ball with concrete.

    ABOUT TIME! GO SUPERBOWL EAGLES!!!!!!
I was sure getting pretty tired of the Patriots and Tom "deflate or not deflate" Brady!
Nick Foles threw that  touchdown pass to Zach Ertz with 2:21 on the clock ......and the rest is history!!!!!!!
Congrats to Philly Eagles! First Superbowl title since 1960!!!!!!

Exactly. We should reflect the fruitage of the spirit even by the way we dress

My point exactly, Q. Esther. Jehovah sees the heart and even if a poor servant of Jehovah doesn't have much, Jehovah still provides for them just like He did for the nation of Israel. He can make a poor person look rich just by the things they have. I can honestly say I have personally witnessed this, especially as a Pioneer. For brothers to dress with tight-fitting suits when they have the financial means to buy modest suits says a lot about what's in his heart.
These suits (straight legged tight pants and small blazers) are the latest style now. Even prominent athletes and celebrities are wearing them. Because they are designer suits, they costs between $500-$1,000 (USA). In view of the times we live in, could tht money pay for other things like rent and food, even a suit without a desiger''s label?
Yes, only Jehovah read hearts but a person can give off clues that he is not being modest but haughty when he wears clothes that speaks volumes of a worldly attitude. Notice the sloppy hair on the young man on the left in the gray suit. Imagine going in field service looking like that. What would the householder's perception be? Not being critcal here but realistic. Our Lord and Savior King Jesus said, "by their fruits you will recognize them". He was talking about a person's actions that either identifies him as a disciple or not. The way we dress also bears fruit about our attitude toward theocratic order whether we're poor or rich.

This was supposed to be a light-hearted, humorous 'Caption this pic' thread.
INTREPID TRAVELLER (and others): The child abuse issue is too weighty to have it piggy-backing on a fun thread. I know you have posted elsewhere on the forum about it with those links. Wouldn't it be best to discuss this on a separate thread?

The question is not whether or not child sexual abuse has occurred among Jehovah's people. Of course it has. We are people, and child sexual abuse is viral today - it is everywhere and seemingly uncontrollable. What I address is the pleading hope of opposers to paint JWs as a hotbed of abusers. It's a ridiculous charge, and they know better, for they are not overly stupid. But their primary concern is to take down a religion they hate. Elsewhere I have written of the backdrop that must be considered when reading any story of pedophilia involving any group.

A 2,700-year-old royal seal bearing the mark of the biblical King Hezekiah has been unearthed in Jerusalem. The tiny oval piece of clay bears the impression of a sun with two wings turned downward, flanked by two ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs that symbolize 'life'.

Just think what we could do if we all shopped on smile.amazon.com and designated the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society as our charity.  I did this over a year ago and, well, my purchases sent $73.45 to the society.  But with others, we have contributed $21,439.23 to the society - that could build two kingdom halls in Africa!!

AbigailSensefulOne reacted to The Librarian in The apostle Paul visited Athens on his second missionary...
The apostle Paul visited Athens on his second missionary journey, in about 50 C.E. He also sought out a territory where he could reach Athens’ non-Jewish citizens-“in the marketplace,” or agora. (pictured here) (Acts 17:17) Located northwest of the Acropolis, Athens’ agora covered 12 acres [5 ha] or so. The marketplace was much more than a location for buying and selling; it was the city’s public square. Athenians delighted to convene there and engage in intellectual discussion. Paul became irritated at the many false gods of the city and so began to reason with the people. Paul’s speech to the learned men of Athens, as recorded at Acts 17:22-31, is a model of eloquence, tact, and discernment. By studying Paul’s example, we can learn much about how to establish common ground, helping our listeners to reason. (bt chap 18 p 140). Photo taken by @m_salina69 http://ift.tt/2gVxbkF
