Now that the cop was exonerated in the St. Louis shooting, the city braces for a third night of protests. A solution is needed. Here is one written last year. "In the course of their job, police shoot hundreds of people per year. How should one report this? Put all shootings on TV. All of them. Run them 24/7 in the order in which they occur. Create a dedicated channel: The Shooting Channel. Make it freely available. Give every network a cut so no one will complain about ratings. Promote ‘The Shooting Channel’ heavily. Ban shootings on any other channel. Put white-on-black shootings on. Put black-on-white shootings on. Put black-on-black shootings on. Put white-o…

As part of a recruitment effort, SpaceX engineers from the company’s McGregor, Texas testing facilities visited Texas A&M University last week and gave a presentation to interested students. In the process, they revealed some extremely exciting details about SpaceX’s future endeavors. Of considerable interest are several comments made on the Boca Chica, Texas launch facilities SpaceX is in the process of constructing. Progress has been gradual, even slow, over the last three and a half years, and it is a running joke within the SpaceX fan community that we aggressively encourage locals to help us track the growth of a pile of dirt, the most obvious feature at the pad…

The U.S. government banned all use of Kaspersky Lab Inc. software in federal information systems, citing concerns about the Moscow-based security firm’s links to the Russian government and espionage efforts. All agencies will be required to identify any Kaspersky products they have used within 30 days and develop plans to discontinue their use, according to a directive from Elaine Duke, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. “This action is based on the information security risks presented by the use of Kaspersky products,” DHS said Wednesday in a statement. “The risk that the Russian government, whether acting on its own or in collaboratio…

It’s September, and that means that there are some new iPhones in town. Specifically, there were three new phones announced today at Apple’s fall event: the high-end iPhone X, which was the star of the show with a new bezel-less design, OLED screen, and 3D face-scanning tech. There’s also the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 3 (i.e., the Apple Watch Series 2 with LTE), and the Apple TV 4K (a, um, Apple TV with 4K). Oh, and everything is more powerful and faster, too. Missed something during all the chaos? We’ve got the details below, along with full coverage of Apple’s newest iPhones and products. Popular Tesla YouTube channel Like Tesla recently posted a video in which it details the seamless integration of Tesla’s Powerwall and solar panels through the Tesla app. Kim of Like Tesla interviewed Michael Beinenson, the former president of the EV club of the South and writer for InsideEVs, who detailed his experience with charging three electric vehicles and managing their homeÂ’s energy needs through a solar system and TeslaÂ’s Powerwall 2. In addition to charging his Model S through energy stored within the Tesla home battery, Beinenson notes that heÂ’s also able to power his home, and sell solar-generated energy back to the utility company. “My little sy…

Today, Nestlé announced that it has bought a 68 percent stake in third-wave café and roaster Blue Bottle. The purchase, reported by the Financial Times to be $500 million, values the company in excess of $700 million. Blue Bottle has followed fellow gourmet-coffee makers Stumptown and Intelligentsia, which are owned by JAB Holding Company, and La Colombe, in which ChobaniÂ’s founder is a major investor, respectively. ItÂ’s a surprising development for the independent company. Founder James Freeman has stressed slow growth, and cares so much about quality that he stopped selling Blue Bottle coffee beans wholesale to other businesses. Nestlé, on the other h…

After a week of big announcements related to Tesla’s Semi-truck, the Chinese automotive industry’s proposed ban on gas and diesel cars, and a new Supercharger for urban use, Tesla shares pushed closer to its all time high of $386.99 a share as the closing bell approaches. TSLA opened last Friday, September 8, at $343.43. Currently, the price is $376.60, a roughly 9.6 percent increase in just one week of trading. It was certainly a big week for the company, as CEO Elon Musk teased that the long awaited all-electric Semi truck would be unveiled October 26 at its Tesla Design Center in Hawthorne, CA. Shares jumped nearly 3 percent following this announcement by Musk on T…
