When Kevin Bacon goes to a wedding reception, he bribes the DJ so they won’t play Footloose. “I go to the disc jockey and hand him $20 and say, ‘Please don’t play that song’, because, first off, a wedding is really not about me. It’s about the bride and groom. And… it’s embarrassing. ” Source World News

wildcat2030: See on Scoop.it - Knowmads, Infocology of the future So far, humans have relied on the written word to record what we know as history. When artificial intelligence researchers ran billions of those words from decades of news coverage through an automated analysis, however, even more patterns and insights were revealed. A team from the University of Bristol ran 35 million articles from 100 local British newspapers spanning 150 years through both a simple content analysis and more sophisticated machine learning processes. By having machines “read” the nearly 30 billion words, the simple analysis allowed researchers to easily and accurately identify bi…

His website is http://www.gustavs.net I had the 'MUNICH'Veal jägerschnitzel, sautéed mushrooms, creamy paprika sauce, bier sausage, caramelized onions, pork schnitzel cordon bleu, spätzle, red cabbage, sauerkraut, Munich-style pretzel & whole grain mustard All I can say is German food is Yummy! I wonder what cheese is inside the pork schnitzel cordon bleu? It's scrumptious I also ordered WEISSWURST A traditional Munich white sausage made with pork and mixed with parsley, lemon, mace, onions, ginger, and cardamom

14 mile trip with 1.2x surge prices is only $12.73? Is it just me who thinks this is bad? Also take into account gas costs, cost of owning a vehicle and vehicle depreciation, lack of benefits compared to a normal job, risk of being on the road, risk of having a random person in your car, etc. Source - Maybe I should stop recommending Uber to people who ask me about potential jobs? What do you think?

HealthDay ReporterTUESDAY, Jan. 10, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- Men who eat a lot of red meat may have a higher risk of a painful inflammatory condition of the colon, a new study suggests. The disorder, called diverticulitis, causes severe abdominal pain, nausea and constipation. And it can lead to complications such as tears or blockages in the colon. The new study found that men who ate the most red meat were 58 percent more likely to develop diverticulitis, compared to men who ate the least. The findings don't prove cause-and-effect, stressed senior researcher Dr. Andrew Chan, a gastroenterologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. On the oth…

Until Sunday, visitors to Calaveras Big Trees State Park could walk through the tunnel in the Pioneer Cabin Tree. A powerful winter storm in California has brought down an ancient tree, carved into a living tunnel more than a century ago. The "Pioneer Cabin Tree," a sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, saw horses and cars pass through it over the years. More recently, only hikers were allowed to walk through the massive tree. Over the weekend, a powerful winter storm slammed into California and Nevada, prompting flooding and mudslides in some regions. The Associated Press reports it might be the biggest storm to hit the region in more than a decade. …

A doctor’s poem is going viral in China and raising awareness that smog (surprise!) is a cause of cancer

As toxic clouds of smog continue to cover much of China, more and more Chinese are turning to vent their anger online at the airpocalypse—even turning to poetry. A poem written by a Chinese chest surgeon has gone viral for pointing out the obvious: there is a link between smog and lung cancer. But in China, where many writers and scholars are punished for speaking out about serious problems, people are hailing the poem as a bold move to raise awareness. Many websites have reproduced the poem in the past week, with the articles racking up thousands of shares and comments on domestic social media (link in Chinese, registration required). Titled I Long to be King, …

Critics of ETFs often cite the potential for ETFs to trade at a share price that is not aligned with the underlying securities' value. To help us understand this concern, a simple representative example best tells the story. Assume an ETF is made up of only two underlying securities: Security X, which is worth $1 per share Security Y, which is also worth $1 per share In this example, most investors would expect one share of the ETF to trade at $2 per share (the equivalent worth of Security X and Security Y). While this is a reasonable expectation, it is not always the case. It is possible for the ETF to trade at $2.02 per share or $1.98 per share or…
