David Normand reacted to James Thomas Rook Jr. in Attention!!!, Russia seeks to remove the children from Jehovah's Witnesses ???
The Jews in Poland had homes, jobs and businesses when the Nazis came in.
Some homes were magnificent, and had been in the family for 600 years or more.
Jews  were rounded up, and murdered.
Those that liquidated everything at 5 cents on the dollar and fled  early with only a stomach full of diamonds, survived.
Those that wanted security starved and froze in the camps before they were burned in the ovens.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

How other people act regarding their confession of faith is their business. I work with some folks who insist that working on Sunday is a sin and they refuse to allow company employees (since they own the company) to work on Sunday. Though I disagree with their decision it is not really for me to argue with them about it. They have principles that they are passionate about and I have mine.
As far as prayer is concerned, What do you suggest I pray for? If I pray for Jehovah to lessen their suffering and he does so, who gets the recognition. They will think that they were alleviated from their suffering because of their (Baptists, Catholics, Adventists, Hindustanis) faith and will not see that Jehovah is the true God. Jehovah is not partial in that he allows the rain to fall on the sinner and righteous one. He does not withhold what is good from us, but he does allow the outworking of events based upon our decisions.
We had a great public talk yesterday dealing with the issue of "What Prayers Does Jehovah Answer?" Basically, (1) Jehovah answers prayers directed to him (2) offered through his son (3) petition is in harmony with his principles or plan.

David Normand got a reaction from Evacuated in Jehovah's witness dies after refusing blood transfusion during the main operation.
The article left me wondering about the aspirin. I have been on low dose aspirin for years. When I went in for an operation two years ago I was told specifically that the surgeon would not operate until I had been off aspirin for two weeks. Since this was a non emergency operation that point with the doctor was non-negotiable. Their doctor should have made it clear and specific that no operation if she was taking aspirin.

David Normand got a reaction from James Thomas Rook Jr. in Theocratic Pins
A number of people like to wear pens that identify something about them. I have a Tetragrammaton
lapel pen that I wear upon occasion. My only fear is that some of these pins and such may end up being an idol. Remember the serpent that Moses erected in the wilderness. It was required by Jehovah and served a good purpose, but eventually it was turned into an idol. (2 Kings 18:4) 4 He was the one who removed the high places, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the sacred pole. He also crushed the copper serpent that Moses had made; for down to that time the people of Israel had been making sacrificial smoke to it and it used to be called the copper serpent-idol.

People do all sorts of crazy stuff when drunk. Alcohol lowers the inhibitions and brings out what the person is really feeling. So, what this person did while drunk probably reflects what he really would like to do, but when he is sober he manages to control those urges. Sadly, as Satan's time gets closer and closer to the end many more people will act the same way this person did; only, they will do so while sober. People really will show their true colours as this system groans on to the end.

Sad but true. Most people have scars or something from life that they are dealing with. Some cope better than others. Sometimes we simply don't know what to say. Well, that is something all of us can work on while we are practicing our presentation for Saturday also practice our presentation for Sunday when somebody is in need of a friendly smile and kind word.

Why would you even post this? It says plainly to all Bodies of Elders. Granted, there is nothing here that is controversial. Just instructions for contributions to the annual meeting. Slight change from last time. It is like you are just trying to stir up controversy where none exist? Reminded of one of the things that Jehovah hates mentioned at Proverbs 6:19  . . .  And anyone sowing contentions among brothers.

David Normand got a reaction from Bible Speaks in THE POPE'S CHURCH IS THE LARGEST, RICHEST CORPORATION IN THE WORLD. – ?????
Well, to be honest the Watchtower Bible and Tract society and attendant corporations are pretty large as well. Granted, most of the wealth is in real estate and is regularly used as opposed to the Roman Catholic Church where they too have large real estate holding as well as art, stocks, bonds, etc. The real question is not how much wealth religious corporations have, but how it is used. Is it used to honour God (Jehovah) or is is used to sustain a lavish lifestyle for the leaders of the organization.
I fondly recall when my family went to a circuit assembly many years ago and were staying in a hotel that one was a bit worn out. The Circuit Oversee met us one morning as we were leaving for the meeting. He was staying in the same hotel. I commented to him about it and stated that I though he would have been in better accommodations and his rejoinder was that what is good enough for the friends was good enough for him. He exemplified somebody who was not trying to get rich off doing God's work as some seem to be.

David Normand got a reaction from Bible Speaks in Turkmenistan Continues to Harass Jehovah's Witnesses – ???????
We can expect more like this as this system heats up with political fervor. Government likes freedom of expression as long as those expressions support the government or favorite religion.

David Normand got a reaction from Bible Speaks in Nashville – Greenwood Village Medical company sued for religious discrimination
This sort of case could have been brought by anybody. Interesting that it took a Jehovah's Witnesses to make a case for that. One would have thought that there would have been other religious minded folks who wanted to take some time off on Sunday to worship.

David Normand reacted to James Thomas Rook Jr. in Legal Protection Offered by JW.org
Thank You so VERY much Sereko Sostar:
I have been looking for a rational explanation for this for many years, and was not able to discern it.
The concept of NATURAL and ARTIFICIAL conscience, with the evidence, which I have also seen, was the key to understanding.
I only knew from my observations that "something" was polluting the system, as REAL Justice, reasonableness and common sense  does not exist, anymore, within our ranks ... and with the clear Bible trained conscience ... I did NOT see the painfully obvious with the clarity you just now provided.
THIS ALONE has made the years I have been bashing my head against the JW-Archive wall worth while, and I appreciate it.
Your experiences and insight  answer that all important question ...
    ... WHY?

David Normand got a reaction from Srecko Sostar in $66M class action sex abuse suit filed against Jehovah's Witnesses
This was filed in Canada and organization has 20 day s to respond. Just have to wait and see how things play out in court. If the law says the Elders or other leaders in the organization should report suspected cases of child abuse then they should have reported it. In any case, the parents of underage abuse victims and if the victims are adults themselves really should have gone to the authorities. They never needed permission to report crimes to the authorities.

    Interesting ....
Everywhere I have ever worked it was assumed that you did not discuss ANYTHING that went on with outsiders.
If it bothered your conscience, give two weeks notice, and quit, .... or suck it up and keep on keeping on.
Lawyers have the moral and legal obligation to keep client secrets forever, even if they quit being Lawyers.
If I understand the sentence structure here, MY MORAL obligation would be to have told the husband, not the congregational elders.
Morally, copying a companies hard drive security cameras, except in self defense, is despicable and is the same as adultery.
He betrayed the "mouth that feeds him".
It is morally wrong to steal from one's employer, except in self defense against that employer.

Most employers would have fired him, especially in banking where confidentiality is a serious prerequisite.  As one commentor said, there is a right way to do the right thing.  Even if he had resigned in order to report what he saw, he would still be indebted to his organization to keep confidential anything he saw. It would be a difficult situation regardless.  If he told them to investigate her without giving them a lead or the source of his information, they would still be after him; then it might still get back to her that he said something,  so it would still be detrimental to him. She might even sue him.
