The Governing Body are responsible for the brutal rape, torture and murder of Jehovah’s witnesses, this is shocking and the people responsible cannot be excused for their actions, but this could have been prevented by purchasing a political card. The reasoning the Watchtower leaders used when setting their brothers up to come in line for such persecution was that Witnesses are to be “no part of the world”.
Yet at the same time that Witnesses were forbidden to hold a card in Malawi a comparable situation arose in Mexico, with the Governing Body ruling in the opposite direction for Mexican brothers. In Mexico, military service was compulsory for young men. On completion of service young men would receive a “Cartilla” card, which similar to the card in Malawi, was required for a transactions such as obtaining a passport and drivers license. Young Witness brothers experienced persecution and imprisonment for refusing their obligation to attend military service.
In order to relieve this suffering, the Governing Body ruled that it was acceptable for Mexican brothers to bribe officials to obtain a government Cartilla card that exempted them from military service. This is discussed in the following letter to Mexico Branch Committee dated June 2, 1960.

    605 BCE is correct, actually.
605 BCE is historically accurate for the battle of Carchemish.
The British Museum features special exhibitions for limited periods before other special exhibitions replace them. BM 21946 is still prominently and publicly displayed with other tablets, cylinders and stelae of that period in Room 55. You can also go to the 'Collections' part of the website, type in the BM number and see a nice picture and description of it with the correct dates.

Didn't the wt say that it was a "fine" decision to such a thing? They even printed it in their mag on how it was great for those to do so in these last times. Talk about encouraging someones downfall.

So why did the wt need to pick dates?
  7. Haha
Srecko Sostar reacted to John Houston in Watchtower Mis-Quotations
No their assumption are also based on scriptures. The dates are points in time used to give reference. Many are hung up on 1975. I was never lost about this date. It was the end of 6000 yrs of man being here on earth. Many began to look forward to the end of things, Armageddon and the new system, forgetting that we knew not the day those things would actually occurr. And as imperfect humans even the anointed, the word went out like gossip. And those who took it as gospel, sold their homes, stop, living almost thinking the end was that near. I am glad my father did not teach us that way. We went to college continue to progress spiritually, understanding what was going on. The dates, not important, only if you are married or a history buff. Since Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, why need to know dates?
Serve faithfully, don't give up, endure until the end, isn't that what the scriptures teach? That is all I need to know. When the time comes I will be ready. And hope everyone else will also!

I too believe the scriptures.........however, I do not believe in the gb and their assumptions of 1914/1918/1925/1975 based on their "math" from 607 or pyramid counting. It isn't so much about math, but rather what the leaders of the wt attribute their math with and demand the rnf to adhere to or face not being in harmony with the group and possible punishment.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that is the basis of what Micah was getting at.

The Watchtower quotes the Gazette for support that in 1914 War War 1 changed the world for the worse. Taken in context the article says something quite different.
Between these carefully chosen comments and the ellipses the Gazette includes the following paragraph.

    607 B.C.E.
The year 607 B.C. is pivotal to Jehovah's Witnesses, as it is the foundation for calculating 1914 as the start of the Last Days. This topic is so detailed that it warrants its own discussion at 607 - 1914 - Last Days. Relevant to this article is that while the Watchtower says Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 B.C., virtually every other source, including encyclopaedias, historians and scholars, state that Jerusalem fell in either 587 B.C. or 586 B.C.
To arrive at the spurious date of 607 B.C., the Watchtower needs to re-work the dates for other significant events, also without any historical support. For this reason, the Watchtower has resorted to misrepresenting quotes to make it appear its date system is correct. For example, in the following quote the Insight Book inserts the year 624 B.C.E. as the accession year of Nebuchadnezzar. Though done correctly by use of [ ], the reader is left with the impression this date is supported by the original source.
However, on checking Assyrian and Babylonian Chronicles, Grayson does not use the date of 624 B.C., but rather on page 19 gives the accession date as 605 B.C.

In the 2010 book God's Word for Us Through Jeremiah, a statement is made regarding a find by Eilat Mazar, supporting two Characters mentioned in Jeremiah.
The reader may get the impression that Eilat is supporting the year 607 B.C.E., whereas she presents that the destruction was in 587 B.C. (See articles at jpost.com and archaeology.hui.ac.il) There was no need to mention the date 607 B.C.E., as it was not relevant to the topic, and for the sake of accuracy the writer could have referred to "when Jerusalem was destroyed by Babylon." The Watchtower inserts this date to deceitfully condition Jehovah's Witnesses that 607 B.C.E. is historically accurate.

The problem arises when people who choose  themselves to be "the foolish things of the world" became really foolish in generating doctrines and instructions that have no connection to god. But they convinced themselves how they are wise in the presence of, before God.
So, who can help them? Man? God? No one.  Because why would they listen to "wise man in a flesh"? An with god, god decide to live them in their security of false wisdom to show to others how look the end of human wisdom, again. With or without prefix - "wise" or "foolish"

September 6th, 2017: A just released research survey shows once again that Jehovah's Witnesses are among the least educated people in the United States:
    AmericaÂ’s Changing Religious Identity
It is also interesting to note how JWs rank in the categories of: Income, Insurance Coverage and Homeownership. They are among the lowest in every one of these categories.
45% of JWs report household earnings of less than $30,000 per year Fewer than half of Jehovah’s Witnesses (48%) are homeowners Only 31% report having health insurance through their employer

You can retract the “like” you put under my comment, you know.  Here’s another scripture (that you may not read)  Gen 11:4
So…you can’t read the scriptures because they were typed by an “apostate’s” hand?
The scriptures were a response to the twinkle I see in your eye concerning the power, feats, and display of the organization.  You are bought and sold on what you physically see, forgetting that nothing can be built for God (as if he needed anything)  Acts 17:24,25
I was already on the downward spiral while submitting myself to a false priesthood, a false sense of security, and a GB who, although they have admitted that Christ will not proclaim any anointed one as faithful and discreet until he returns, (2013) they still call themselves such, and have convinced 8 million people of this.
It is now that I can raise my head and ask the Father and Christ to help me straighten up and fly right. ?
"Does she think someone did her dirty long ago?"
I believe you should as God and Christ if men are doing something “dirty” to God’s holy priesthood.
“He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people.” Dan 8:24
"The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.[a] When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”  Dan 12:7
Here is an example of this:

"They  (anointed ones) feel a bond of unity with their brothers and sisters as members of Christ’s body." Wt 2006
    NOW IT IS,
“Anointed Christians do not feel that they should spend time only with other anointed ones, as if they were members of a club. They do not try to find other anointed ones so that they can talk about being anointed or meet in groups to study the Bible.”  1/2016
So, Tom, even though anointed ones may feel a bond of unity with their brothers, they may not act upon it, not because Christ who is their Head says so, but because men have enforced ridiculous and unrighteous rules.
“When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”
Do you know what happens next?

Librarian, I would move this post under new topic, but truthfully, I just don’t know how.  Please, can you kindly do it before this whole house comes down on me?  Thank you
JR., how many scriptures have you given me?  One.  2 Thess 4:3-4.  I have given you ample, to search out for yourself whether my words are true or false.
I use to have pity on the GB; actually shedding tears over what they have done to themselves, my anointed brethren in Christ, and my friends.  I no longer “feel” anything toward them, only hatred for the deceit they utter from their mouth.
I live in an area where mountain lions are a common occurrence.  There is a small school through the woods where about 80-100 children attend year after year.  Up until about 8 or so years ago, the playground was not fenced in and children could wander into the brush if a watchful eye wasn’t on them.  At that time period, when a lion was seen around the school, teachers would gather the children quickly, back into the classroom where it was safe.  It is not unusual to receive a phone call from a neighbor saying a lion was seen in their yard – make sure your children are inside and your animals are safe.
What about a pack of wolves, standing in your yard?  Would you call your neighbor who may have livestock, and warn them?  Matt 7:15
The members of Christ’s Body, God’s Temple, are the anointed ones.  Each member should have the same care and concern for one another as Jesus does.  They are many members of one body.  1 Pet 2:5,9; 1 Cor 3:16,17; Eph 2:20-22   Besides these chosen "priests",  are all the JWs within the organization that are in jeopardy, because wolves are among them, wearing sheep's clothing. Although they may appear “tame”, they have a secret desire to destroy God’s Temple.  This is what it is all about, JR.  The GB, who has usurped the headship of the anointed ones by proposing they are that Head, are wolves; thieves of Christ’s sheep.  John 10:7-10
    Read this quote again:
“The anointed and their other sheep companions recognize that by following the lead of the Governing Body, they are in fact following their leader, Christ.  Wt 9/15/2010”
Do you realize how spurious these words alone are?  On the one hand, they say they are not inspired, which is what an anointing is.   1 John 2:20,21; Acts 10:44-46  On the other hand, they say following them is following Christ, the source of Holy Spirit to the members/branches of the Body.  John 15:5-8; 1 Cor 6:19; 6:17    This is sheer hypocrisy.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”  1 Tim 2:5,6
By one rejecting such false doctrine, the GB rejects members of Christ’s Temple. They come down hard on them – disfellowshipping (spiritually deemed as “dead”) They keep them quiet while in the organization by expecting their obedience to be given them and the elder body, when all obedience should only be given to Christ, their true Head, the ONLY Head that God recognizes.  For upholding such truths from scripture, affliction comes upon not only anointed ones, but all.  And, it is the same type of affliction Jesus experienced among his own people.  John 12:25; Mark 10:29,30; Matt 7:1,2; Rom 14:4
I have no love or hate for the Beast that has two horns like a lamb but speaks like a dragon, mouthing deceit.  Rev 13:11,12   I am compelled to warn all that he is present in their neighborhood. Rev 11:3,4; Zech 4:14 This is an expression of love shown to my brothers, who consider me their enemy.  Matt 5:44-48
You might want to read Paul’s words in 1 Thess 2, then compare them with ostentatious attitude of the GB, who slyly slip in their doctrine to change the meaning of scripture; and who are men who have no idea what it is to suffer for one’s testimony to Christ.
“For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, that our visit with you was not without result. 2 On the contrary, after we had previously suffered and were treated outrageously in Philippi, as you know, we were emboldened by our God to speak the gospel of God to you in spite of great opposition.
3 For our exhortation didn’t come from error or impurity or an intent to deceive.
4 Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please people, but rather God, who examines our hearts.
5 For we never used flattering speech, as you know, or had greedy motives—God is our witness— 6 and we didn’t seek glory from people, either from you or from others.
13This is why we constantly thank God, because when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you welcomed it not as a human message, but as it truly is, the word of God, which also works effectively in you who believe.
For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, since you have also suffered the same things from people of your own country, just as they did from the Jews 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us.
They displease God and are hostile to everyone, 16 by keeping us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. As a result, they are constantly filling up their sins to the limit, and wrath has overtaken them at last.
LetÂ’s look again at the scripture you gave me.
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching. 3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear. 4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
There is a plethora of false teachers/priests in the Watchtower, teaching what the flock wants to hear – that the organization will provide protection and peace if they continue serving its needs.   Matt 6:24; Jer 5:31; Rev 13:15-17
The GB’s ‘testimony’ is not to Jesus, but to the organization, the other Beast of Revelation that the GB “rides”. ‘Who is like it?’  Who can wage war with it?’  Rev 12:6; 13:4; 2 Cor 11:4 (Rev 12:11)
    1 Sam 2:2; Dan 12:1-3 (Michael, “Who is like God?”);Zech 2:1,2,6-9; Rev 11:1,2; 18:4-8

Jehovah has NEVER changed ... although he has changed his mind many times when entreated to do so, and he DOES "learn as he goes along".
He was genuinely surprised when children were offered to the fires of the god Moloch as human sacrifices, and before that there was of course ... the dinosaurs ... which did not end well, for them.
And the name "Jehovah" is in ENGLISH, a standard convention since about AD 1600 when the letter "J" was invented, and the name is different in different languages, the same as Jesus' name is different in different languages.
I under understand in Spanish my name James is pronounced HIGH-ME, or Santiago ....

What was first job of The Word? Create! What was the first job of Michael? To fight! What was the first job of Jesus? To dye!
So Jesus get back to previous job position - to fight, again. After he will finish fighting, then he will get back to first job of creating, again? Or to some other future job change with name change?

I think the angel whose job it was to teach Adam and Ever correct theology was originally named "Lucifer" which I understand means "Bearer of Light" ... but when he committed treason and rebelled against God, and lied to them ... his name changed to "Satan" which I understand means "Slanderer" ... but I am going from 50 year old memory.
So... angelic creatures can change names also ... and be reclassified WITH that name change ...from angels of God, to demons.
The principle of "job change --> name change"  has plenty of examples.
