Geordie Rose, Founder of D-Wave (recent clients are Google and NASA) believes that the power of quantum computing is that we can `exploit parallel universes’ to solve problems that we have no other means of confirming. Simply put, quantum computers can think exponentially faster and simultaneously such that as they mature they will out pace us. Listen to his talk now!

After being tracked from Florida to Texas, a local observer near SpaceX’s McGregor, TX facilities spotted Falcon HeavyÂ’s second side booster vertical on one of the areaÂ’s static fire test stands. Posted to FacebookÂ’s SpaceX group by Keith Wallace, a photo clearly shows the coreÂ’s distinctive nose cone, which takes the place of the interstage and improves the aerodynamic profile of the side boosters. The booster now on the stand in Texas is believed to be Core 1025, previously flown during the CRS-9 mission. The core has been modified significantly for its new role as a Falcon Heavy booster, largely in the form of strengthening structures, as well as the addition of …

Tesla was granted a patent for its Solar Roof on August 29 for a new way to bond the roof shingles together, pushing forward a more efficient way to construct and install its photovoltaic roof tiles. The patent, a 28-page request for “Systems, Method, and Apparatus for Curing Conductive Paste,” allows Tesla to bond solar cell-embedded tiles with an adhesive that is thermally cured under heat, and enables electrical conductivity between the bonded materials. The conductive paste would allow solar roof tiles to be stacked in a cascading style and still maintain conductivity across the entire roof. This method is a departure from convection or solder bonding, which t…

Tesla is pushing forward on its Full Self-Driving goals as it increases data collection from Model S and Model X equipped with the Autopilot hardware suite. The California-based electric car maker has been collecting a wider range of data from its vehicles, which includes driver interventions of Autosteer, road classifications, as well as vehicle speed against a curve radius of any given road. Data logging of interventions include any time a driver uses the steering wheel, hits the brake or manually hits the Autopilot stalk. Though Tesla has been collecting data from its worldwide fleet of vehicles and operating them in ‘Shadow Mode‘ for quite some time, the lat…
