Believe me, I'm trying. This is important when English speakers try to interpret ancient Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek, without it having modern connotations.

Yeah…. I am addicted to Dihydrogen Monoxide and need a fix about four times a day. One time I overdosed and spent 4 days in the hospital with congestive heart failure, and lost 26 pounds. At my age, if I do without, after 4 days of increasingly severe withdrawal symptoms, I would be dead. So, I sneak it into my coffee and Ovaltine in the morning.
Sometimes, when I am working outside, it comes through the pores of my skin and stains my clothes, but I don’t care!
Sometimes I take three times as much.

You dim and bitter bulb that sucks away light, if money was the object, the org would not continually advise young ones to tone it down, stay low-key, put Jehovah first over riches, and so forth! I mean, it’s the whole theme of this thread, which you ignore just to hurl an insult-bomb when you sense an opening..
On another day, you’ll be lambasting them for encouraging young people to be window cleaners whereas they should be chasing career and making money!

I seem to be the only one to feel that a person who made a lot of money in his life should try to do more for Jah - not use all his energies he has left in furthering his career.  I bet he does not have enough money to keep his BIG house going! But sell it - I do not think so.....
Any case - I stated my case - not because I am jealous but because I think of all the young talent out there who make Jehovah the first thing in their life and let all the opportunities go.  I did this and I am not sorry ..... but I do not like it when these people are held up as an example!  This happens in sports, music and many other fields.
Of course, those who put Jehovah fist receive blessings from Jehovah but sometimes a person will see another person, who should know better, taking all the opportunities coming their way to be in the limelight.... and like psalm 37 says - it is deceptive - because it seems as if it is going better with those who do not put Jehovah first.

That George should be scolded. Her remarks of support for George are relevant to the discussion. To me she said:
“Yes, live quietly and myob! Very judgemental I would say. I don't care whose a famous Jehovah's witness and who isn't. I happen to know that Brother Benson has taken time from his busy schedule to donate time doing specific songs that are original songs... As for Brother Nelson, yes, he was desperately trying to get off drugs. He had a bad hip and lived in constant pain. I was addicted at one time as well, thanks to a quack doctor. I am friends with someone on the inside of the music industry..Chazz Dixon. He sister called me before the news media went nuts!  Prince never wanted to go public with his issue and others were afraid too! But I do know that your books sound like more gossip then facts.. You can cause divisions within the congregations . Satan is just loving this! I no long want any association with you Tom.”

Lovely! I saw this item in the news quite a while back.  Lions teach their children to hunt.  Predator mammals are usually taught by parents to hunt.
I have seen videos of lionesses protecting the baby of their prey when the male lions want to hunt it.  Of course they eventually die from malnutrition and weakness and are eaten.

I’ve spiffed it up, renamed you, and have put some of it on my own blog, as the first of a multi-part series. The succeeding parts I’ll put here first, however. And if you’re kind enough to say your hubby enjoyed the post, I guess I should tell @pudgy that my wife loved the cartoon about why you shouldn’t be drunk when adopting a dog.
Alas, the post has earned you one or two ‘MYOB’ responses. Not to worry, though. I’ll run interference for you. I respect you for the courage to say something you know is going to be unpopular.

    Understood
Trouble is, it’s not in the nature of young people to be cautious. ‘The beauty of young men is their power,’ the verse says, not their caution. This doesn’t mean you are not right in the bulk of what you say. I think you are.
    Yes
Yes. What you say is both true and well=motivated. You have stated matters well.
It’s just that those of creative bent, who may not excel in more practical gifts, are always being urged to tone it down, stay low key, keep their talents under a basket—whereas if your talents lay in putting down carpet, you would be honored in the highest places. Understand, it’s not the honor that is sought—it is the ability to move about freely.
There are brothers who are craftsmen, who truly excel at their field, and are highly sought after. One of them locally is snapped up by a Fortune 500 company that puts him on their private jet and flies him to their various facilities, treating him like royalty. Nobody ever dreams it is an improper tending to his career or that he is unhealthily inflating his ego.
My quip for the longest time has been ‘if it pays, I’m not good at it. If I’m good at it, it doesn’t pay.’
’How come you never taught me practical things?’ I said to my aged dad, who was handy. ‘I did,’ the amiable fellow said, long removed from his former taciturn days. ‘You just weren’t paying attention that day.’
I think he fell for the mantra then in vogue, ‘to get a good job, get a good education.’ You can always hire people to do that lesser stuff for you.
I have what I need. I don’t complain. I do let off steam from time to time, but that’s like the Eastern European man who went to the police to assure them that the political views of his parrot were not his.

I'm sure a serious question would first need to be asked, and not some long-drawn opinion in order to have a meaningful bible discussion, and not just an argument generated by animosity. No Christian is supposed to argue, much like it's done here. So, it makes me wonder, how many consider themselves Christians.
But, this "topic" is about God's name, not some kind of, circular way at criticism. We can all do that without breaking a sweat.
It seems your presentation on how the name of God sounded seems a little outlandish, since we don't know exactly how the tone was for praising God in ancient times.
We need to consider, how scribes manipulated the YHWH to make it seem to look like something else. Regardless if we are scholars or rabbi's, the professionals have a better understanding on how the YHWH was formed.
    I AM THAT I AM
When Moses met God at the burning bush, Moses asked God what his name was. God responded, “I Am That I Am” (Exodus 3:13-14). In Hebrew the name is spelled YHWH, or Yahweh. In the several centuries before Christ, Jews were not allowed to pronounce the name because it was holy. When they came to the name Yahweh in the Scripture, they said Adonai (‘the Lord’). See the list of names for God at the entry for God.
It wouldn’t matter to a Hebrew. If God’s name came up, they substituted God's personal name out of fear. Those that God favored, had no problem praising God without fear.
Scholars recognize where scribes wanted to reconfigure the YHWH to mean something else.
Translators of the Old Testament have not agreed upon the correct translation of the name Yahweh. Since it is translated into the Greek as kurios, which means, “Lord,” many have translated Yahweh as “LORD.” However, ‘Adonai, which is best translated “Lord,” appears with Yahweh in various instances. The King James Version, for example, translates Yahweh as “God,” and ‘Adonai as “Lord.” Some modern translators have chosen to maintain the use of Yahweh. The name Jehovah has been judged by translators to be unacceptable. This name arose due to the Jewish practice of not pronouncing Yahweh because of Leviticus 24:16, “He that blasphemes the name of Yahweh shall surely be put to death” (Leviticus 24:16). This warning against a vain or blasphemous use of the name was taken in an absolute sense, especially after Israel’s exile to Babylon (Amos 6:10). Because of this, when reading the Old Testament, the Jews substituted either Elohim or ‘Adonai for Yahweh. From this, the practice of adding the vowels of ‘Adonai to YHWH (JeHoWaH) became established.
Nehemia Gordon Findings, found the name Yahovah. So, the substitution of the J for Y and “e” for “a” is appropriate in the English language.
Now if the discussion is going to extend, to how we arrive at those substitutions from "a" to "e" then we need to understand how the language transformed within the Jews.

The professionals also have a good explanation for that transformation. So, in English, the name of God is Jehovah, and it's appropriate under the Hebrew scheme of language.

CURRENCY and FAMILIARITY = MAN MADE TRADITION
    CUSTOM = man made tradition.
And then JW org / GB / Watchtower, pretend to be 'no part of this world' SO WHY FOLLOW TRADITIONS OF MEN.
we have retained the form "Jehovah" because of people's familiarity = MAN MADE TRADITION, or worse.
Moreover, it preserves, equally with other forms, the four letters of the tetragrammaton JHVH.
Now I was taught by JWs that YHWH was the four letters of the tetragrammaton.
So one of them has to be a lie.
And all the time they admit that
While inclining to view the pronunciation "Yah-weh'"  as the more correct way,

42 Then I can answer the one who taunts me,

43 Never take the word of truth from my mouth,

44 I will always obey your instruction,

47 I delight in your commands,

48 I will lift up my hands to your commands,
    which I love,
and will meditate on your statutes.
    Remember your word to your servant;
you have given me hope through it.
50 This is my comfort in my affliction:
Your promise has given me life.
51 The arrogant constantly ridicule me,
but I do not turn away from your instruction.
52 Lord, I remember your judgments from long ago
    and find comfort.
53 Fury seizes me because of the wicked
    who reject your instruction.
54 Your statutes are the theme of my song
    during my earthly life.
Lord, I remember your name in the night,
    and I obey your instruction.
    56 This is my practice:
I obey your precepts."  Ps 119

I wasn't speaking about Gog and Magog since it is post millennial... what you're speaking about is actually about Gog of Magog.
Gog of Magog in the Book of Ezekiel represents Satan's Entire Political system of things. It is Pre- Millennial. Once the Great Tribulation starts, Jesus separates the sheep and goats and then he turns his attention towards Satan's Entire Political system of things.
Satan's Earthly Organization has many facets and allies that work in its behalf to starve, maim, and kill anyone who refuses to receive its mark. "It puts under compulsion all people—the small and the great, the rich and the poor, the free and the slaves—that these should be marked on their right hand or on their forehead,  and that nobody can buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name." (Rev 13:16)
The head of this wicked body is the United Nations. It deceives mankind making the claim it can deliver peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet. It constantly tries to conform itself into an angel of light, even though it is the one causing the chaos. "And all those who dwell on the earth will worship it. From the founding of the world, not one of their names has been written in the scroll of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered." (Rev 13:8) This talking head by its cunning, is spewing bitter and poisonous propaganda worldwide since 1919 as the masses of humankind will be 'all too eager' to drink its Wormwood:
It has 17 Goals to Transform Our World by 2030 : "The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection."

Lol. If he was in my congregation I would say nothing. His choices are his own.  I would listen to him at a get-together for sure.... although the smoothness in his voice is no longer there. 3 hours of it may be a bit much for me.
But I said what I said because I come here to share an opinion which I may not Express any where else....
I know many young JW kids who were practicing singing during this lock-down. One used to be my street -work partner.  She wrote a Russian song (She is Abghasian), she is in her early 30s but looks 20 and is stunningly beautiful, is sweet, very spiritual and puts Jehovah first. Well, she wrote the music... paid an arranger and sent me the recording.... which I absolutely love!
She put it on internet.... and she keeps busy... she is now busy with the second one. low-key busy with her art.
I know we are too close to Armageddon for her to build a career and she knows this.... I have told her to be cautious....discussed her art and ambitions.. I believe I am doing the right thing before Jehovah to caution her.
I myself will maybe sing about once a month...  for friends... that's it.
But I see the danger signals with another young singer. He has a deep baritone/bass..... my favourite voice..... His voice is magnificent.... He will be a fantastic opera buffa singer... he has agility, power and also has developed his higher ranges on his own by singing a lot!  Obsessed with singing..... so he would be an excellent candidate for this world because he has drive! .... so excellent material ... but he is very poor. Cannot afford fancy expensive classes and lives away from the capital city to get a teacher worth his salt.
So I see him on Facebook putting up badly chosen pop songs with bad words, songs that are not bringing out the beauty in his voice... and he never talks about spiritual things.... just focussed on getting a few half-baked gigs. Time is running out on all of us..... he should focus more on spiritual things and he will be able to crow for eternity.
I speak to young people who I see are ambitious..... and I say it is not the time NOW!
To be honest.... I do not think any of them will get the chance to show their metal....... new lockdowns will plague them and frustrate them.  A singer just likes to sing..... like birds do it naturally. We are living in a very unnatural world now.... not the right time and place.
Older ones should mentor younger ones to be the best they can be under these new circumstances.
I lost another brilliant friend of mine. Plays the piano- most difficult pieces and accompanies himself while singing. Lovely strong classical voice. Teaches at a university....... but became apostate. He was like a son to me..,,, he used to play for me and we used to have sing-song together. I have not seen him for ten years.
Football, singing and a few of these professions take their toll on the young ones.  ..... that is all I wanted to say.

Arauna got a reaction from Patiently waiting for Truth in Searching for the earliest mention of the Israelite god, "Yahweh" (Tetragrammaton) aka "Jehovah" in Modern English
This archeologist in the video gave the reading of it as he learnt it.  NO scholar knows the true pronunciation of hieroglyphs before 500 BCE.  They are using the Hellenistic  pronunciation of it which was deciphered off of the Rosetta Stone. Rosetta stone dates from 2nd century BCE.
There are usually BIG changes in languages over 1200 years.  (1500 BCE to 200 BCE).  Look at the English pronunciation today and compare it to the pronunciation of Shakespearian English in Elizabethan era (only 400 years ago).
