  1. You wearing a red tie in that photo above is extremely offensive to me. Please remove it immediately. I am "anti-tie" today. (this is an example of me leaving a comment about what John believes in an appropriate place)

John can thus reply to me saying that I should take a long walk off of a short pier and then ignore my profile.

    😀

Thank you John for allowing me to use your profile page as an example to all.

Notice this interaction did not clutter or derail someone elses topic.

    2. JOHN BUTLER

Thank you for your comment. The tie is an original 1960's tie which has a matching handkerchief. Bought when i was Mod and this was the in thing. The maker was Harry Fenton, very well known at the time.

You may use my profile any time you wish sir.

  2. @JOHN BUTLER Yes. This post is off in another orbit. I would encourage everyone to learn to make their PERSONAL COMMENTS on the profile page of the person they are referring to.... and NOT on some random topic. So.. for example I will go make one on your page ....
  3. Words cannot express how much I love this thread. Smiling.....
  4. @James Thomas Rook Jr. You just couldn't resist could you? BEHAVE!!!
  5. I don't think we have that on the list..... could you share what you eventually found with us? Here is the list we are slowly building on:
  6. Fields Gene - Jesus Learned Obedience from the Things He Suffered.mp3 Agape! This doesn't appear to be on the official Public Talk list with an outline: Let me know if I missed it.
  7. @JOHN BUTLER Well... that would be in "good standing" within the JW community which as you are well aware.... means they would be a "friend of the GB" as you put it above. @admin who owns this site doesn't care what religion one is...he is agnostic at best. He wanted this club to be off in it's own corner... I asked him to make my own "JW's only" club to accomodate like minded people in their own area. This Public Club will stay here where I am more relaxed on people questioning etc.... I do get ticked off though when people's comments are completed unrelated and off topic (oh.. and spammers)
  8. @Arauna I was thinking about the frustrations you expressed earlier. I will create a club on here for JW's that feel as you do. I too sometimes feel frustration when conversations are constantly being turned back into pedophilia etc. on unrelated topics.
  9. In Hellenic and Roman art, the sun-god Helios and Roman emperors are often depicted with a radiant crown. The latter was not used in primitive Christian art because of its pagan origins, but from the mid 4th Century, Christ is thus represented. It was only from the 6th Century onwards that the halo began to be seen in most representations of the Virgin Mary and other saints. “The halos that artists during the Middle Ages put around the heads of saints are a remnant of sun worship.” - Will Durant “From the 4th Century, Christian artists began to paint Jesus with a halo of light, and later Mary and the Apostles. It is also characteristic of the representations of Buddha and Mohammed.” - Sven Achen The halos, a remnant of sun worship Panel of Christ and Abbot Mena E 11565 Location in the Louvre: Denon Entresol room C showcase 6 The church of the monastery of Bawit is reconstructed in part in this room. Suspended from the wall of the altar is one of the oldest images of Christ, showing him in the company of an abbot. It is also one of the first appearances of a halo of light around the head of the saints. Icons form an integral part of the Orthodox world. The worship of these two-dimensional images of Christ or of the saints took effect in the religions of Babylon and Ancient Greece. Believers considered the image used for worship as a divinity in itself. Christian artists adapted this syncretism and used pagan symbols which they introduced in a new context without however totally purifying them. Source
