Landen Kane Miller, 33, of Coupeville, passed suddenly on Oct. 30, 2017.

Landen was born in October 1984 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Vodean and Lou Ann Miller and lived in Everett and Marysville Wash., and Mountain View, Calif. before returning to Hawaii in 1992. The family settled in Coupeville in 1995 and Landen attended Coupeville Middle and High schools where he played baseball and tennis.

Landen met the love of his life, Alicia Mollerstuen, in 2004 and in June 2007 they were married and began an incredible journey together. Oak Harbor, Burlington, Sedro-Woolley and Coupeville have been called home for Landen and Alicia over their 13-year adventure. Over the next nine years the happy couple welcomed five beautiful children into their home; Avery, Gaberion, Emma, Maddilyn and Zoey. Family was Landen’s greatest passion; playing with his children and sharing precious moments with Alicia, his happiest times. Landen was a member of the JehovahÂ’s Witnesses and he regularly attended meeting with his young family.

While in high school, Landen became a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue, where he volunteered and worked part time for many years. Landen worked in a variety of jobs through the years before finding his passion for health care as an emergency room technician at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center. He worked hard with an infectious smile and amazing compassion as he cared for every patient. Landen was completing his second year in the Skagit Valley College Nursing Program at the time of his passing.

Landen was preceded in death by his grandparent Lawrence E. Young and Volmer and Naydene Miller. Landen is survived by his loving wife Alicia and children Avery, Gaberion, Emma, Maddilyn and Zoey; grandmother Maxine Young of Tacoma; his adopted grandparents Larry and Mary Ellen Mollerstuen of Oak Harbor; mother and father Vodean and Lou Ann Miller in Oak Harbor; brother Valon Miller (Elizabeth Buren) of Kent, Wash. and sister Nelanna Miller (Robbert Sadesky) of Richland, Wash.; aunts Lynne Young (Tacoma), Katrina (Eric) Haberman (Ogden, Utah); uncle Lawrence D. Young (Sequim, Wash.); and many cousins and extended family.

Landen is sorely missed by all who loved him and all who have been touched by his amazing spirit.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the Camp Casey auditorium in Coupeville.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for donations to help Alicia and the children through this difficult time.

An Alaska USA Credit Union account has also been set up for direct donations.
