THE JUDGMENT AGAINST OUR BROTHER CHRISTENSEN BEGINS

In the District Court of train on April 3 held a preliminary hearing in the criminal case against a citizen of Denmark Dennis Christensen, who is accused of organizing the continuation of the activities of extremists and banned in Russia of Jehovah's Witnesses in Orel (282.2 of the Penal Code).

The case is heard by Judge Alexei Rudnev. A preliminary hearing, according to the correspondent of "Orel News," came several dozen supporters of Christensen. However, the meeting was postponed due to the Danish request, in which he requested the court to give him additional time to familiarize himself with the case materials.

"I need time to familiarize myself with video files, audio files, photos, as well as books and brochures," Christensen asked. The court granted the petition in part and gave the defendant another week.

Dennis Christensen was arrested on May 26, 2017. Since then he has been detained in SIZO. On the eve of the house arrest, where local followers of the organization "Jehovah's Witnesses" were banned in Russia, the FSB and the police conducted searches. The siloviki reported that extremist literature was confiscated during the searches. In addition, it was observed in the law enforcement agency, witnesses were received about Dane's involvement in a crime of an extremist nature.

In July 2017, the human rights organization Memorial recognized Christensen as a political prisoner.
