After temporarily satisfying the appetites of eager prospective Model 3 owners, the O-C-Detailer is back with another close-up look at more of the mass-market Tesla’s overlooked details. Owner of OCDetailing, Joe Torbati, has recently provided us with a look at Model 3’s battery cooling vents and other exterior features, and his most recent video takes a peek at some of the hidden interior details. In specific, Joe highlights Model 3’s creature comforts including front steering wheel knobs, coat hooks, glovebox, USB ports, and more. It’s worth noting that some of Model 3’s features have yet to be activated and will arrive in future over-the-air software updates, like …

Tesla published its Q3 2017 Vehicle Deliveries and Production report shortly after the closing bell on Monday, announcing that it had delivered 220 Model 3 and set an all-time high for total Model S and X delivered per quarter. The Palo Alto-based electric carmaker delivered a total of 26,150 vehicles in the third quarter, of which 14,065 were Model S and 11,865 were Model X. This represents a 4.5% increase over Q3 2016 and a 17.7% increase over Q2 2017. Tesla also noted that the company will likely exceed its first half deliveries of 47,077 units by “several thousand vehicles”, and on track to deliver approximately 100,000 Model S and X in 2017. Deliveries on the 4,…

“For the ways my work was used to divide people rather than bring us together, I ask forgiveness and I will work to do better.” Mark Zuckerberg’s message of regret on the Jewish Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. Facebook’s in hot water for allowing Russian-backed ads on its platform to influence the 2016 election.

Another Brick in the Paywall

Google (-0.64%) announced it will scrap its “first click free” policy and move toward helping publishers drive more digital subscriptions. The policy worked like this: say you were looking for an article from a paywalled publication (like…the WSJ or NYT’s report on this exact story). You’d be able to sidestep the paywall by searching for the article on Google. That’s because the search engine strong-armed news outlets into allowing users three free articles per day. Sure, publications could theoretically have opted out of the policy, but Google would bury them on page 2,000 of the search results…right below your cousin’s travel blog. And considering Google driv…

Monarch Airlines

British budget airline Monarch decided being in business wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be and declared bankruptcy Monday morning. That couldn’t have been comforting news for the 110,000 stranded passengers whom the British government is working around the clock to airlift back home. And it’s certainly not comforting… …for the other airlines that are struggling to stay afloat in the ultra-competitive European market. Alitalia, the Pope’s favorite Italian airline, went bankrupt in May, but this time (yep, this has happened twice before), the Italian government wasn’t about to throw it a lifeline. Meanwhile, Irish budget carrier Ryanair canceled 20,000…

Joe Torbati, owner of OCDetailing, shows us the location for Model 3’s battery cooling vents; the mounting point for Model 3’s front license plate bracket, and he provides insight on Model 3’s purported towing capabilities. Model 3 motorized vents for battery cooling Similar in design to Tesla’s flagship Model S and Model X, Model 3 has motorized vents that are mounted on the lower front bumper that’s used for regulating the amount of …

Tesla has begun to send “save the date” reminders to select invitees of its upcoming Semi-truck invite-only event to be held on October 26 in Hawthorne, California. The initial email was sent to Tesla owners that referred five or more qualifying Model S and Model X sales in the company’s most recent, highly successful, yet often times controversial referral program. “You have qualified for a VIP invitation to our semi truck event on Thursday, October 26 in Hawthorne, CA. Please save the date.” reads the email. Tesla also notes in its communication that an official invitation via email will follow. “You will receive an email invitation closer to the event. We look forward…

Intrepid observer Joe Kelly caught important hardware changes made to LC-39A, SpaceX’s operational launch facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. These visible modifications are almost certainly being made in preparation for Falcon Heavy’s inaugural flight, which Musk stated would “hopefully [launch] towards the end of this year”. While verging on esoteric, the modifications that were made to LC-39A so far have focused on the Transporter/Erector/Launcher (TEL), a massive white structure tasked with carrying Falcon 9 to and from the pad itself for static fires and launches. While the TEL at LC-39A was designed from the beginning to be structurally…

Tesla continues to increase the number of Model 3 accessories being made available in its online store, this time adding an all-weather cargo mat to its Model 3 product catalog. Trunk and front trunk “frunk” mats are arguably “must have” accessories for any Tesla owner that’s looking to protect the vehicle’s mat from dirt, water, snow, and general debris from cargo. It’s often a first-purchase item for new Tesla owners and akin to buying a case for your new smart phone. The Model 3 cargo mats can be purchased individually from Tesla and priced at $70 for the frunk mat and $130 for the trunk mat. Priced at $200 for the pair, we expect that a variety of more affordable a…

Just when you thought millennials couldn’t get any more “hip,” Jet.com goes ahead and releases a new low-priced private label grocery option (Uniquely J) geared towards urban millennials. Jet.com, founded by CEO Marc Lore and acquired by Walmart last year for $3 billion, is trying to capitalize on the growing popularity of lower-priced private label brands—a $150 billion market Amazon (of course) is already trying to take advantage of. Not to worry, Lore has a plan to best Bezos (not his first). It’s all in the edgy branding and organically sourced offerings of low-priced essentials (like coffee, olive oil, laundry detergent, etc.) Uniquely J is using to lure i…

NCAA Scandal
by Guest- 1 reply

Another day, another scandal in the NCAA. Consider us (un)surprised. The FBI arrested 10 people on fraud charges, including four assistant basketball coaches at major programs (USC, OK St., Arizona, and Auburn) and an Adidas employee. Here’s the gameplan that drew the foul: assistant coaches received bribes ($10,000+) from sportswear execs, financial advisers, and agents to “steer” basketball players into contracts. And that scheme seeped into the highest level of sports business. Adidas director Jim Gatto allegedly funneled $100,000 to a college basketball player (presumably at Louisville) he hoped would sign an agreement with the apparel company. …
