    Yes I remember lots, including those words from Paul which you choose to ignore.
    Eph' 2 : 8 & 9
    8  By this undeserved kindness you have been saved through faith, and this is not of your own doing; rather, it is God’s gift. 9  No, it is not a result of works, so that no one should have grounds for boasting.
    And the reason you chose to ignore them is because YOU DO BOAST ABOUT WORKS.
    Unfortunately, as @Srecko Sostar made clear, the 'works' of JWs have been false works tainted with lies. So in fact those works of the Watchtower / JW org have been working against God and Christ.

    Every kind of faith is “true/really faith” in the eyes of that believer. And, as faith is, among other things, “faith is the security / confidence of things hoped for, the belief / security of things not seen,” it is not always easy to recognize the difference between the real and the unreal, and sometimes it is impossible.
    Take, for example, the "faith" held by the members of the WTJWorg that 1914, then 1925, then 1941, then 1975, and by the end of the 20th century, the Kingdom of God on earth would be physically established. That faith created hope in them. They proved it in various ways and means. And that faith was "alive" in them because they proved it by their "deeds". But that hope was never realized. It means that faith made no sense. And their faith was very much alive, not because of HS in faith, but only because of deeds, Because HS did not support that faith of theirs. So their “body” was in reality "dead" by analogy with James 2:26.
    In this and such a context of events among the JW, by such faith and by such deeds/works they will never be saved. But, maybe they will be saved only through God's kindness who want that all kind of people have been saved because that (salvation) is a gift, even with "wrong/unreal" faith. Of course, this does not mean that they will not be "paid" for their deeds / works, either good or bad today or tomorrow.

    Srecko Sostar reacted to ApostaBabe Linda James in Trial scheduled for Jehovah's Witnesses elders accused of failing to report sexual abuse
    I have somewhat been following this one. From what I recall, Penkava was a school teacher and wrote a column in his local news paper. Being a school teacher also put him a position of being a mandatory reporter if he comes across any awareness of what may appear to be a form of child abuse. Once this suspicion or awareness is reported to those within the law enforcement, they have been trained handle it from there.
    Penkava and Scott were made aware of what Arturo Hernandez-Pedreza, a JW member had done to his daughter. So if they did an in-house investigation by asking him if he did what the wife and child of this man claim that he had done. ( Which puts them both in great Danger! ) If the elders then receive an admission from him, then in that receiving of that one's admission, that is not considered, nor does it fall under the clergy tenant privilege confession. But the elders are not aware that this the case. But when the elders have received a confession when asked, the Org claims in the Court of law, that this is the setting with which the Org is able to claim "clergy tenant privilege." But its not. "Clergy tenant privilege" is when a person seeks out a spiritual leader (singular) to speak with them regarding a confession that that person, (who is considered the tenant) of a particular religious belief system, or not, would like "a one on one session" with a member of the clergy from their own particular belief system, or sometimes not, if the confessor is not all that particular. These are often deathbed confessions made by those whom are on their death beds.
    When people are at the point of dying with in hospitals, they are often asked by their Dr.'s or the nursing staff if there is any form of clergy that they would like called upon for spiritual help and or support.
    There are a list of numbers for different denominational clergy that have volunteered to be on call for the patients of hospitals so that they can meet the patients and their families clergy needs, including Jehovah's Witness clergy.
    Believe it or not, the clergy that are full time on staff for hospitals here in the U.S. are often quite knowledgeable and equipped in several traditions and practices of several different belief systems. So they can not only be their for those patients within the hospitals who find great comfort in being able to experience the tradition and practices of their belief system, but they can also give the comfort one need from ( the Catholic inspired ) clergy pennant privilege deathbed confessions.
    I have come to hate the fact that the secular government has their hands tied because they're not supposed to enter into the government of religious organizations and change up the dangerous religious disciplinary practices when it comes to CSA. Something needs to shift soon.
    When It comes to the point where believers of several different religious hi control authoritative organizations have been led to believe that following the instructions of their spiritual leader's is on par with following god himself, I'm afraid we are just going to see more and more CSA case's where a mother and child who reported the crime that the male head of the household of their family has committed, will be encourage that forgiving him is the godly thing to do. Perpetrators will be continually be sent home to remain living with their victims at the spiritual directions of these elders, whom are the spiritual leader's of the congregation. They will yet again be wrongly informed by those elders who are taking the lead ( as they have unknowingly been directed with really dangerous guidance by the headquarters lawyers Department on so many occasions beforehand ) by the Lawyers at the headquarters of the Watchtower were Victims will continually be made silent with the accusations that they have infact brought these crimes upon themselves as they often find themselves being deemed by those taking the spiritual leed that what happened to them is viewed by these elders as these victims were not victims because the elders declared them as being willing participants to sinful acts in spit of the obvious pain that these victims are experiencing. Parents of these victims are threatened with disfellowshipping if they tell anyone as to what was said during these meetings. The perpetrators are given some spiritual guidance and a few suggestions that amount to, "don't do it again." Then when they are all sent back to the home. The perpetrator is still the head of the house and the mother and daughter still have to do as he instructs them to do. The way things are handled within this so-called Theocratic organization is a crying shame. There is nothing godly within the arrangement of how CSA is handled. Between "we don't take our Brother's to court," ·|· "this will drag Jehovah's name through the mud," ·|· "people can change," ·|· victim-blaming" along with a continual stall so that 95% of these CSA cases never ends up in court.
    Something has to shift. I only hope that the shift of Justice will happen sooner than later.

    Based only on short comment about your parents I really don't see how they failed.
    "..... but they did a awful lot right….and without them I wouldn’t be here….and they loved me…"
    If you tell me that they failed because they are/were not believers (does this mean, not JW believers?) than i am not of same view as you on that.

    I think Jesus made the point that the Kingdom would start with small beginnings and grow to something large, a bit like a mustard seed. Those who weren't ready for it, not looking for it, not hungry for it, would not notice that Jesus was gathering citizens of that kingdom right there in their midst. But Jesus was performing "striking" signs.
    But the parousia is something different. It would ONLY be noticed by "striking observableness" as Pudgy noted.
    (Matthew 24:23) . . .Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. (Matthew 24:27) 27 For just as the lightning comes out of the east and shines over to the west, so the presence [parousia] of the Son of man will be. (Matthew 24:36) . . .“Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. (Matthew 24:38, 39) . . .until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence [parousia] of the Son of man will be. (Matthew 24:40-42) 40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken along and the other abandoned. 41 Two women will be grinding at the hand mill; one will be taken along and the other abandoned. 42 Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. In other words, if anyone thinks they can say that the parousia started by October 1, 1914, we know not to believe it. And if anyone says it's a century long period instead of something with an obvious "day and and an hour" beginning, we should also know not to believe it. If anyone says, He's here, or He's there, but this parousia is invisible to you right now, we should also know not to believe it. Notice, too, that verses 40-42, about "the day your Lord is coming" is exactly the same context as the "parousia" of verse 39, tied together by the word "THEN."

    I hope someone finds this. It could be useful. Especially because there is so much evidence that Russell never apologized, but made it appear that others had misread or made too much of his own statements and expectations.
    Russell started backing off of those expectations in 1913, especially by November. The back-peddling and talking about what people might think of these predictions 100 years from then or even 120 years from then were stated between November 1913 and before August 1914, when Russell had begun to lose faith in them. But then the "European war" allowed Russell to jump back in and start pushing the original dates again. When nothing anywhere close to what he predicted happened in either 1914 or 1915, then in January 1916 he even changed the date for the end of the Gentile Times to 1915. And he showed how the Jewish year 1915 could last from October 1915 to October 1916, giving him another two years of waiting but only needing to change the 1914 date by one single year. Then, by the end of October 1916, Russell died.

    The above was your response to the fact that 1 Thess 4:17 says that the dead in Christ will rise first and that "afterward" the living who are surviving will "AT THE SAME TIME" be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
    (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17) 15 For this is what we tell you by Jehovah’s word, that we the living who survive to the presence of the Lord will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep in death; 16 because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first. 17 Afterward we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we will always be with the Lord. 18 So keep comforting one another with these words.
    There may be more than one way to understand this, of course, but I prefer not to add anything to what is in the scripture. Also, you point out Revelation 20, and I like that, because it gives us even more reason to understand 1 Thess 4:17 for what it says directly, not what we can add to it.
    What I was pointing out was that the NWT states very clearly in the footnote that the words they translated as "together" could also have been correctly translated with the words "at the same time." If you look up the footnote in the NWT Reference Bible you see that this is the alternative rendering.
    In fact, the Greek word is actually ἅμα [h]'ama from "[s]'ama," which in Latin is "simul" and in English is "same." (In case anyone wonders how the "s" sound comes from the accent for the "h" in Greek, it's the same as when Greek "hept" becomes Latin "sept" for seven, or "hex" for Latin/English "six" or "hemi-sphere" and "semi-circle.")
    Here's how the NWT translates the exact same word in other places:
    (Acts 24:26) 26 At the same time [h]'ama he was hoping that Paul would give him money. For that reason, he sent for him even more frequently and conversed with him.
    (1 Timothy 5:12-13) And they will incur judgment because they have abandoned their first expression of faith. 13At the same time [h]'ama they also learn to be unoccupied, going around from one house to another;. . .
    (Colossians 4:2, 3) Persevere in prayer, remaining awake in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time [h]'ama, pray also for us. . .
    Now before @Patiently waiting for Truth impatiently jumps on this and claims I have proved that the NWT purposely mistranslated, that's not what I'm claiming here. I'm only claiming that we can't use 1 Thess 4:17 to prove that the first resurrection starts 100+ years earlier than the parousia/manifestation(epiphania)/judgment. The translation in the NWT is an alternative that can make sense in the context. But we also need to look at that context more closely.
    You made a point to say that the same verse (1 Thess 4:17) uses the term "AFTER THIS." We have the same problem with this term "After this" or "Afterward." The Greek term can mean this, but it could be referring to only a second or a minute afterward, or even a "blink of an eye" afterward. In fact, it need not mean "afterward" at all. In Greek, the more direct word for showing something happens afterward in time is "meta" but the word is here can also just mean "then."
    The same word (ἔπειταis) is translated in the NWT as "then" in several places, not "afterward."
    (1 Corinthians 12:28) And God has assigned the respective ones in the congregation: first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then ἔπειταis powerful works; then gifts of healings; helpful services; abilities to direct; different tongues.
    (Hebrews 7:2) . . .First, his name is translated “King of Righteousness,” and then ἔπειταis also king of Saʹlem, that is, “King of Peace.”
    Those two verses above could have used the term "afterward" instead of "then" but they make more sense with just "then." In 1 Thess 4:17, it actually does makes sense to say "afterward" since the term "First" had just been used. But then again, so did 1 Corinthians 12:28 and Hebrews 7:2.
    But then there is context, and also a very important point you made about Revelation 20, which you claimed I forgot about.
    The first contextual clue is that Paul said that those who lived to the time of the parousia would in no way precede those who had already died faithfully in Christ, and that this should be a comfort. In verse 15, already quoted above, Paul said not to sorrow for those sleeping in death: "For this is what we tell you by Jehovah’s word, that we the living who survive to the presence of the Lord will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep in death."
     But our typical understanding is that those who died, or at least a great part of them, WOULD precede those who survive to the presence. If there really was a "first resurrection" somewhere between 1914 or 1918 and 1935, which is the general WTS suggestion, then most of the 144,000 preceded "meeting the Lord in the air" about 100 years or more before those who will survive to the so-called end of the presence. This entire expression and context actually only makes sense if the parousia is much closer to a single point in time anyway, not a 107+ year range.
    But then Paul appears to clinch the argument when he summarizes it again in the next chapter, using the same word that can be translated "at the same time." And note that in the summary, Paul leaves out any hint of "before" and "after." Yet, he again reminds us that this an encouraging point that one group in no way precedes the other group, because they meet the Lord in the air together.
    (1 Thessalonians 5:10, 11) He died for us, so that whether we stay awake or are asleep, we should live together [at the same time] [h]'ama with him. 11 Therefore, keep encouraging one another and building one another up, . . .
    Jesus appears to clinch the same point even further, at least for me, when he nearly reverses the timing of the judgment and the gathering of the anointed into heaven. And notice that Jesus doesn't begin gathering the anointed into heaven BEFORE the harvest is finished. Also note that Jesus used both the words that can be translated "at the same time" and then the term "then" which could have been translated "afterward." I think this is quite revealing:
    (Matthew 13:29, 30) He said, ‘No, for fear that while collecting the weeds, you uproot the wheat with them. [h]'ama 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest season, I will tell the reapers: First collect the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them up; then ἔπειταis gather the wheat into my storehouse.’”
    And of course, if the parousia was a single event like a global lightning strike, instead of a 107-year-plus range of time, then we wouldn't have the problem of continuing our planting and watering work, supposedly in the middle of a harvesting work. What Jesus said (everywhere!) would now make more sense. The witnessing work continues UNTIL the harvest, UNTIL the synteleia (destructive end), and UNTIL the parousia, UNTIL the epiphania (manifestation). All these expressions mean the same thing as UNTIL the end.
    Lastly, you mentioned Revelation 20, which includes:
    (Revelation 20:4-6) . . .And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for 1,000 years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Happy and holy is anyone having part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and they will rule as kings with him for the 1,000 years.
    Our WTS teaching on this is that all of the 144,000 that lived from 33 CE to some time before 1935 CE came to life and DIDN'T start rule as kings for 1,000 years. They came to life, but continued waiting to rule as kings for about 100 years. This way some of the 144,000 will be with Christ for about 100 years longer than the others. Do you really think that this is what Paul had in mind when he tried to comfort Christians with the fact that one group would not precede the other group, but that they would meet together "at the same time?"

    You've described a leadership without spiritual self-control - a leadership who cannot  produce sound doctrine...like "raging waves of the sea foaming up their own shame"  Jude 1:12,13; Titus 1:7-9
    Yet, despite what the word of God says, you say,
    No, it is not a healthy attitude to hide one's eyes from the trash heap produced by the organization.  Wt regularly contributes to this growing heap down to this day.  It is proof that the Wt. can only produce, spiritual trash. Jesus' teachings explain this in John 15:1-8.
    How long does that take, that spiritual vision which I'm guessing JWs hope will eventually lead to food that will last?   The leadership won't change, people who listen to the leadership must change, and become the person with the "glass that is half empty"; otherwise known as a critical thinker, and weigh in on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    There is another “woman”/promise, besides the promise heavenly New Covenant involving the anointed ones...whose members each give “birth” – to futility.  (Isa 28:15; Rev 17:3-6)  (Gal 4:24,26; Rev 12:1-4; 13:1,2,5-7)
    Ps 7:14-16 - "The wicked conceive evil;
    they are pregnant with trouble
    and give birth to lies.
    15 They dig a deep pit to trap others,
    then fall into it themselves.
    16 The trouble they make for others backfires on them.
    The violence they plan falls on their own heads.”

    You and I both know that I've never said, do nothing. And as I have said before, Catholics, Protestants et al, have 'works', but just like the 'works' of JWs, those works prove false.  Um, is it the latest prediction this 2034 year for Armageddon ? Is this your new 'works' to tell people ?  .
    Dead faith ?  Is that what JWs have ? It seems so because they seem to need to be able to see physical 'temples' (Warwick & Ramapo) being built by the Watchtower / CCJW, and JWs seem to need a date/ year (now 2034) to beiieve in.

    You would think your leaders would learn from past mistakes and “apologies” that you say Russel gave, but Rutherford went ahead setting more dates that failed, followed by Knorr with 1975.  Perhaps the motivation is not to focus on truth, but the innate desire is to follow one’s own personal visions, which have led them to tell lies. God told Israel that the false prophets they were listening to, were making them worthless.  How is it, that your false prophets are excused for their worthless prophesies? (Jer 23:16)  Did the apostles mislead thousands with a lie that they had to retract later, using an excuse of a barking dog that G. Jackson comically depicted?  How can your uninspired leadership be compared in the least, to the foundation of the spiritual dwelling of God? (1 Cor 3:10; Eph 2:20-22)  It is a detestable habit JWs have, to put their leadership on the same level as the apostles, whose mission was to teach the truth in Christ – and not to build a mega corporation.  Their mission was simple, the Wt’s mission incorporates the world’s treasures, and is a road that leads away from Jesus Christ.  (Matt 6:21; Col 3:2; 2 Cor 11:3)
    About the organization’s building crave, A. Morris stated in the 2019 annual convention , people “not spiritually minded” may say, “You believe the end’s coming? So, what are you doing all this for?  If the end’s really close, what are you doing?”
    The Wt has been a doomsday organization since its beginning.  It has been busy telling people they will die a horrid death unless they enter it and dedicate their life to it, while equally busy building, buying and selling real estate. Perhaps it is the spiritually minded one who can see the hypocrisy in their contradictive actions.
    Morris says, “It’s close.  However, as we eagerly await, we want to have Jehovah’s mind on the matter, wait patiently.  And I think that all of those here, cuz it, hear at least the the new birds/bergs (?) so many years in the truth, especially corporate members and their mates if they’re married…”(sounds like he’s stumbling a bit trying to validate the need to build?  Or, maybe he had a few drinks before giving his presentation?)
    “…this Wt we want to share with you from 1976, profound statements. To this day they ring true about this matter of the end.  It shows where we are in the stream of time, Jehovah’s spirit was on ‘em, not inspired, but he captured it, helping them and it was just ringing and it still rings today.  Now, notice what that ‘76/11/15 Wt. 688-689, par 17, ‘the end does not come just because we might think it is the due date, or because we feel that our territory has been well worked. It comes when Jehovah has carried through the great work of kingdom preaching to the extent he wants.  And then he will bring the great tribulation.’
    “Now listen, back 1976, ‘until that time there is work to do.  And we as Jehovah’s Witnesses are the one assigned to do it.  The arrival of the great tribulation should find the preaching work at the height of its forward movement, at the very peak of its momentum throughout the earth.’
    After causing a huge dent in the lives of JWs, to the point of destroying not only their physical livlihood, but the vision of paradise arriving in a specific year, the Wt. speaks smooth words to cover over the atrocities they committed, against a people who listened to the worthless lie of 1975.
    Morris - “To support the preaching and to continue to feed Jehovah’s precious sheep the way he wants them fed, it involves all this construction. We’re the busiest we’ve been. Hands down.  So it’s amazing how the slave captured that right attitude in 1976…
    Really? Why didn’t they have the right attitude before predicting a date that failed, in light of their history of failed dates?  Was this slave “faithful” to Christ’s truths, and “discreet” – “wise, prudent, intelligent, cautious”?
    “… of course some in the truth there at least in some parts of the earth, they’re thinking the end’s coming in 1975.
    Who planted the thought in their head to begin with?  And was it really only in some parts of the earth were JWs “thinking” the end would arrive that year?
    Kingdom ministry, 5/1974 p. 3
    “Reports are heard of brothers selling their property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service.  Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world’s end.”
    Wasn’t this a world-wide message to inspire all JWs to follow?
    Morris – “And look at all the growth since the 70’s, you had about 2 million back in the 70’s that were witnesses of the true God, now we’re approaching 9 million.”
    He’s smoothly covering up the fact that there was huge peak in membership before 1975, and a huge drop after 1975.
    Morris continues – “So in conclusion there’s closing thoughts, and this is priceless from that same wt, Jehovah’s advancing theocratic society will be a going concern a go-forward organization right down to and through the GT.
    So, apparently this priceless information is “new light”.  Someone switched off the light bulb after you say Russel apologized for his prediction failures, but the light switched back on after each subsequent failure.  Is that right?
    “So, as I’ve told brothers (slurred…”for a long time?”), the recent changes from RBC ?, this is all new world construction going on.  (they’re?) taking this over after Armagedon, you know, just keep on working.”
    The nation of Israel constructed temples where God graciously allowed His spirit to inhabit. (2 Chron 7:1)  When His Son came to earth, God, out of wrath for the rejection of His Son, removed His Spirit from Jerusalem’s temple upon the death of His Son. (Isa 59:1,2; Matt 27:51; Luke 13:35) The organization is not a temple. It is built with the treasures of the world, that Satan, Christ’s enemy, rules over. (Matt 6:19; Col 3:2; Phil 3:18,19; 1 John 5:19)  Jesus began building God’s new Temple on his spiritual “body”, made with “living stones” – a holy priesthood. (John 2:19-21; 1 Pet 2:5,9)  No earthly construction has God’s stamp of approval, where His Spirit would dwell, since Christ’s Body of anointed, are His “house”. (Acts 7:49; John 14:23; Eph 2:20-22)  In the organization, this Temple in the anointed “living stones” is left “not one stone upon another”, as your counterfeit priesthood has trampled it, and Truth, to the ground. (Matt 24:2; Dan 8:12; 2 Thess 2:3,4; Rev 11:1,2)
     Instead, your leaders exalt what they have built with their hands.  (Dan 11:38; Isa 2:8; Rev 2:20)
    Spiritually, the words of Haggai 1 can be applied to your organization’s leadership and their lusts to build the desires of the flesh.  The evidence of false prophesy in the organization, is evidence of spiritual famine –the lack of Holy Spirit. (Matt 7:15-20)  The trampling of God’s Temple, where truth is found in each heart of the anointed, is also evidence of spiritual famine.  (1 John 2:27; Rev 18:4-8)

    6 “You have sown much, and bring in little;
    You eat, but do not have enough;
    You drink, but you are not filled with drink;
    You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;
    And he who earns wages,
    Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
    9 “You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 11 For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.”
    “The prophets prophesy falsely,
    And the priests rule by their own power;
    And My people love to have it so.
    But what will you do in the end?  Jer 5:31

    Srecko Sostar got a reaction from Patiently waiting for Truth in The disgusting thing that causes desolation...
    Your dear parents managed/guided or took care of their own family. They were not Shareholders, Administration or Ecclesiastical Church Body aka GB of a religious Charity.
