From Seaworld Parks and Entertainment:
"Food Preferences And Resources ( of Walruses)
Walruses prefer molluscs - mainly bivalves such as clams. They also eat many other kinds of benthic invertebrates including worms, gastropods, cephalopods, crustaceans, sea cucumbers, and other soft-bodied animals. Walruses may occasionally prey on fishes such as polar cod. Walruses may eat the carcasses of young seals when food is scarce. There are some rare but habitual seal-eating walruses. Their diet consists mainly of ringed and bearded seals. These are usually male walruses, recognizable because they are usually larger than other males, with powerful shoulder and chest muscles. Their skin may become grease-stained from the blubber of the seals they prey on.
The Elephants teeth look like that so they can FIGHT meat eating predators on an equal basis, and the fact that they cannot floss without two trunks.

Hi Anna,
I appreciate this question. Predation actually contributes to ecosystem stability, playing a critical role. Viewed this way, predation then contributes to the overall "peace among animals."
See for instance this article by Dr. Fazale Rana, an old-earth creationist biochemist:
Animal Death Prevents Ecological Meltdown

I think it was Russell who said that 99% of animals either die by violence or starvation. Of course, I think it was Bertrand Russell, not Charles Taze.

I guarantee you one thing ... when Polar Bears become vegetarians ... people are going to get VERY tired of hauling 23 million tons of straw to the wastelands of the Arctic, day after day after day after day ....... after day after day.
Or as Marie Antoinette was reported to have said just before she lost her head " No straw? ... Let them eat ICE!"
... but I may have gotten that mixed up.
(... and I betcha the Polar Bears will equally get tired of all that straw!)

VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Use plain old common sense, and ALSO look at the differences between a cow's teeth ( and every other king of animal that eats vegetation ...) and a lion's teeth, or a crocodiles' teeth ( and EVERY other animal that eats meat ...), and notice the difference in DESIGN.
When I see large Tiger type incisors on a horse, (... like a tiger has ... for those in Rio Linda ...) the only thing I can be sure of is that he or she has a Visa card, and has been shopping at a Halloween supply novelty store for vampire teeth. ( That was satire ... for those in Rio Linda...).
Good intellectual detectives detect much.
Bad intellectual detectives detect little.
About half the world's population don't intellectually detect at all.
That is what DEFINES average people.
These people are usually made into slaves, because they are unaware and have no powers of observation.
.They will believe ANYTHING!, no matter how irrational, if it's stuffed inside a cuddly, huggable Teddy Bear.

Jim Seward got a reaction from ComfortMyPeople in Will There Be Snakes In Paradise?
Jehovah created predation as well as prey with defenses against predators. Predators using poison then to kill their prey is really a reflection of Jehovah's endearing engineering. Also, Genesis 1:30 does not teach that all animals were created as herbivorous, as that is a common misunderstanding. Additionally, God did not alter the fauna after Adam's sin or after the Deluge to function within a predator-prey dichotomy--as there are no scriptures stating that, and which could even be seen as a contradiction of Jehovah resting from creation.

Very simple answer ... find the scripture where it says the "lion will lay down with the lamb", and read it in CONTEXT ... for those in Rio Linda, that means the page before, and the page after.
Among God's people the lion will eat straw, as lambs being eaten scare children ... very messy ... but all animals in their natural environment will eat what they ALWAYS have eaten, and what they were DESIGNED to eat.
All else is a cartoon fantasy that would embarrass Walt Disney.
If you find that incredible, there is a way to test it ... let your lawn grow high, and eat ONLY grass for a week, and see how well YOU do.
You may find yourself online, ordering Purina Lion Chow.
