  1. 1961 “In unity I shall set them, like a flock in the pen.”—Mic. 2:12. I always remember this one for some reason. So I looked for it and indeed found it on your list. Thanks. I am keeping this list.
  2. Agree a person cannot train his conscience by taking decisions wholesale from others.
  3. In addition to the ones mentioned by Bro Rook, here are some others. These were (expressly) appointed by the monarchs in their times. (They did not run for office.) MORDECAI AND QUEEN ESTHER Loyal as Servant to the King. In the account, Mordecai, although a Jewish exile, was a servant of the king. He heard that Queen Vashti had been deposed by King Ahasuerus of Persia and that all the beautiful young virgins throughout the empire were being brought together so that from among them a replacement might be found for the queenly office. Mordecai’s cousin Esther, a girl “pretty in form and beautiful in appearance,” was introduced into the candidacy for queenship, but her Jewish background was not revealed. (Es 2:7, 8) She was selected as queen. Mordecai continued in his duties, “sitting in the king’s gate,” when information was brought to him that two of the court officials, Bigthan and Teresh, were plotting to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. He warned the king through Esther, and his act of loyalty was recorded in “the book of the affairs of the days.”—Es 2:21-23. (Do some research and learn how Jehovah used Mordecai and Esther to preserve the Jews at a time when they were threatened with genocide.) NEHEMIAH Nehemiah was cupbearer to Persian King Artaxerxes (Longimanus) and, later, governor of the Jews, rebuilder of Jerusalem’s wall, and writer of the Bible book bearing his name.—Ne 1:1, 2, 11; 2:1; 5:14, 16. (Insight Book) *** it-2 p. 1109 Tirshatha *** (Tir·shaʹtha). The Persian title for the governor of a jurisdictional district. In the five times it is used, it is preceded by the Hebrew definite article ha, making it in English “the Tirshatha.” The officials mentioned in the Bible by the title “Tirshatha” ruled over Judah, one of the Persian provinces. Zerubbabel was evidently the Tirshatha mentioned in Ezra 2:63 and Nehemiah 7:65, 70. Later when Nehemiah became governor he was the Tirshatha and is referred to as such at Nehemiah 8:9 and 10:1. DANIEL AND THREE HEBREW COMPANIONS/OFFICIALS (Daniel 1:3-7) 3 Then the king ordered Ashʹpe·naz his chief court official to bring some of the Israelites, including those of royal and noble descent. 4 They were to be youths without any defect, of good appearance, endowed with wisdom, knowledge, and discernment, and capable of serving in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the writing and the language of the Chal·deʹans. 5 Furthermore, the king assigned to them a daily ration from the king’s delicacies and from the wine he drank. They were to be trained for three years, and at the end of that time they were to enter the king’s service. 6 Now among them were some from the tribe of Judah: Daniel, Han·a·niʹah, Mishʹa·el, and Az·a·riʹah. 7 And the principal court official assigned names to them; he gave to Daniel the name Bel·te·shazʹzar, to Han·a·niʹah the name Shaʹdrach, to Mishʹa·el the name Meʹshach, and to Az·a·riʹah the name A·bedʹne·go. (Daniel 2:48) The king then elevated Daniel and gave him many fine gifts, and he made him the ruler over all the province of Babylon and the chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. Daniel - third highest official in the Kingdom (Daniel 5:29) Then Bel·shazʹzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and placed a gold necklace around his neck; and they heralded concerning him that he was to become the third ruler in the kingdom. *** it-1 p. 576 Daniel *** Daniel continued in court service until the fall of Babylon. At Daniel chapter 1, verse 19, it is stated that his three companions also “continued to stand before the king” (of Babylon). Whether they lived to hold this position until Babylon’s fall is not stated, but Daniel did; and after this he was in the Persian court until at least the third year of Cyrus.—Da 10:1.
  4. Do you mean civil service or political office?
  5. If the evidence is there, why ask the question?
  6. Well the Bible was not rewritten in our time. What Bro Rook is saying is that the truth was always there but we were not able to understand it. Jesus said and knew that we would not then have been able to bear it. As time progressed we would understand it. And the time is now , so we are understanding better.
  7. It also shows that little shepherding is done. The shepherd is supposed to use his crook to rescue those who fall into a precipice. Seems that they are even afraid of these people.
  8. Something is wrong with these titles. (James 4:13-15) 13 Come, now, you who say: “Today or tomorrow we will travel to this city and will spend a year there, and we will do business and make some profit,” 14 whereas you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears. 15 Instead, you should say: “If Jehovah wills, we will live and do this or that.”
  9. I am sure you meant apostle Peter. "Only Jehovah can make people do what he wants, but he has only done so on extremely rare occasions under specific circumstances." - Anna Example: Jehovah made Balaam bless Israel when he wanted to curse Israel.
  10. How do you keep the 2006 one from updating? I have CDs from 2005, my personal copies of books from the '60s. I stopped taking printed bound volumes from last year. The old song books seemed to have disappeared. I have only from 1984. When you leave home, a lot of stuff if left and eventually gets lost or thrown out. I recently found a well kept almost unused copy of the Let God Be True book, but then I realized it came from my husband's family, brought over by him. It is good to keep these old books to compare.
  11. This is the scripture I think the Librarian referenced. (Mark 9:38-42) 38 John said to him: “Teacher, we saw someone expelling demons by using your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said: “Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one who will do a powerful work on the basis of my name who will quickly be able to say anything bad about me. 40 For whoever is not against us is for us. 41 And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, I tell you truly, he will by no means lose his reward. 42 But whoever stumbles one of these little ones who have faith, it would be better for him if a millstone that is turned by a donkey were put around his neck and he were pitched into the sea.
  12. Read about it on Internet a few years ago. She never told them who the father was. Maybe she did not know.
  13. (Isaiah 61:1, 2) 61 The spirit of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah is upon me, Because Jehovah anointed me to declare good news to the meek. He sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And the wide opening of the eyes to the prisoners, 2 To proclaim the year of Jehovah’s goodwill And the day of vengeance of our God, To comfort all who mourn, Judgement messages are released concomitant with the preaching of good news of the Kingdom and the year of goodwill. The scripture above shows both the year of good will and the day of vengeance being declared. (Remember also the numbered Kingdom News tracts released over the years.)
  14. *** Bible Citations *** Rev 22:17 And the spirit and the bride keep on saying, “Come!” and let anyone hearing say, “Come!” and let anyone thirsting come; let anyone who wishes take life’s water free.
  15. Regardless of what weed-like Christians did, the wheat-like Christians still have to follow Christ. He is the one who is showing us the way back to pleasing the Father. He is a Reconciler and Ambassador for Jehovah God. He said to follow his steps closely. So that means that anyone who finds the word Christian distasteful does not know or understand the scriptures below: (1 Peter 2:21) In fact, to this course you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving a model for you to follow his steps closely. Also those who scorn the name are scorning something God-given. It was by divine providence that the true worshippers were called Christians. See Acts 11: 26 in my first comment. *** nwtstg Christian *** A God-given name for the followers of Jesus Christ.—Ac 11:26; 26:28.
  16. Seems you do not know much about freedom of speech and association. Check USA precedents. They thought Jesus was criminal and immoral too. Read the scripture below. (Matthew 11:18, 19) . . .’ 19 The Son of man did come eating and drinking, but people say, ‘Look! A man who is a glutton and is given to drinking wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ All the same, wisdom is proved righteous by its works.” JWs can't please everyone in Satan's world, they are just trying to please God and his Son. It was prophesied that he would be put to death as a criminal and it happened. He said his disciples would not be greater than he was. They would be viewed in a similar way. See below. (Isaiah 53:9) 9 And he was given a burial place with the wicked, And with the rich in his death, Although he had done no wrong And there was no deception in his mouth. (Isaiah 53:12) 12 For that reason I will assign him a portion among the many, And he will apportion the spoil with the mighty, Because he poured out his life even to death And was counted among the transgressors; He carried the sin of many people, And he interceded for the transgressors. A slave is not greater than his master.
  17. "Acts 8: 27 With that he got up and went, and look! an E·thi·oʹpi·an eunuch, a man who had authority under Can·daʹce, queen of the E·thi·oʹpi·ans, and who was in charge of all her treasure. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he was returning and was sitting in his chariot, reading aloud the prophet Isaiah. 29 So the spirit said to Philip: “Go over and approach this chariot.” 30 Philip ran alongside and heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet, and he said: “Do you actually know what you are reading?” 31 He said: “Really, how could I ever do so unless someone guided me?” So he urged Philip to get on and sit down with him." The precedent seems to be in verse 31 for having a suitably qualified person conduct the Bible study with a potential disciple of Christ.
  18. It restores the Divine Name in the places where God and Lord were substituted and it is very understandable as it is in the everyday language, just like the Septuagint was the language of the Greek common people in Jesus' day.
  19. (Revelation 3:14) “To the angel of the congregation in La·o·di·ceʹa write: These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God: (2 Corinthians 1:20) For no matter how many the promises of God are, they have become “yes” by means of him. Therefore, also through him is the “Amen” said to God, which brings him glory through us. (Acts 11:26) 26 After he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year they assembled with them in the congregation and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians. Jesus is the Faithful and True Witness for his father God (Jehovah). He is also called the "Amen". He is also called Christ or Anointed One. Therefore his followers are Christians and Witnesses of Him and of his Father. In other words they must be Jehovah's Witnesses like him.
  20. Matthew 23:8  But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called leaders, for your Leader is one, the Christ. (see Rev 3:14 and comment above)
  21. JWs are not solicitors - they are commissioned to preach the good news to everyone. Most people would listen if they were not prejudiced by others. Matt 24:14
  22. Ps 65:2: O Hearer of prayer, even to you people of all flesh will come. Before Cornelius' baptism (Acts 10:1, 2) Now there was a man in Caes·a·reʹa named Cornelius, an army officer in what was called the Italian unit. 2 He was a devout man who feared God together with all his household, and he made many gifts of mercy to the people and made supplication to God continually. (Acts 10:30, 31) Then Cornelius said: “Four days ago counting from this hour, I was praying in my house at the ninth hour; just then a man in bright clothing stood in front of me 31 and said: ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been favorably heard, and your gifts of mercy have been remembered before God. Prayers heard before his baptism. At this point he and family baptized. (Acts 10:47, 48) “Can anyone deny water to prevent these from being baptized who have received the holy spirit just as we have?” 48 With that he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they requested him to stay for some days.
  23. The truth from the Bible. John 8:31-32 31 Then Jesus went on to say to the Jews who had believed him: “If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
