Rosyjski Sąd Najwyższy nakazuje likwidację kolejnej lokalnej organizacji religijnej

Dnia 9 lutego 2017 roku Sąd Najwyższy Federacji Rosyjskiej orzekł o likwidacji lokalnej organizacji religijnej Świadków Jehowy w Birobidżanie. Podtrzymał tym samym wyrok sądu niższej instancji, który uznał, że organizacja ta ma charakter ekstremistyczny, i obłożył zakazem prowadzoną przez nią działalność.

Orzeczenie oparte jest na sfabrykowanych dowodach. W lutym 2015 i styczniu 2016 roku policjanci podłożyli zakazane publikacje religijne w obiekcie wynajmowanym przez Świadków Jehowy na spotkania religijne, po czym „znaleźli” je w trakcie rewizji. W styczniu 2016 roku zamaskowani antyterroryści przerwali spotkanie religijne i podłożyli publikacje pod krzesłem w obecności uczestników zebrania.

Lokalna organizacja religijna w Birobidżanie — stolicy Żydowskiego Obwodu Autonomicznego w Rosji — jest pierwszą zlikwidowaną po tym, jak Sąd Miejski w Moskwie orzekł o prawomocności ostrzeżenia Prokuratury Generalnej wystosowanego pod adresem krajowego ośrodka administracyjnego Świadków Jehowy.
