AUSTIN, Texas — More than 5,000 people gathered Saturday and Sunday  in south Austin for the Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The focus was loyalty as attendees of all ages checked in to presentations and discussions on unity and Bible study.
They say current events may be a clear indication that these topics need to be explored now more than ever.
In all, the free three-day event hosted 49 different presentations including 35 prepared video segments and multiple short films.

In the coming days, more than 20,000 Jehovah's Witnesses will walk door to door from Key West to West Palm Beach, inviting neighbors to learn how they can cultivate brotherly love.
It's particularly important in these times of global violence, terrorism and hate, they say.
"The hatred we are seeing all over the world has impacted us as mankind," said Mike McBean, a Jehovah's Witness from Davie speaking at the convention. "We are going to focus on what Jesus taught and how he lived in dealing with hatred. One way is to love our enemies and not retaliate. If we live by that principle, hate will be diminished."
The lessons of love and loyalty will be shared during three conventions at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, a free event open to the public. No collections will be taken.

Jehovah's Witnesses return to the River City for their annual convention. This year marks the 14th held in Evansville.

That long stay in the Tri-State coincides nicely with this convention's theme of loyalty.

"Loyalty is what we're talking about," says Frederick Young. "Loyalty to Jehovah."

"Helps us remain loyal by words and deeds and actions," says Sean Caster.

Each year the convention brings an estimated $2.8 million to the local economy, according the Evansville Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"They've adapted very well to our being here," says Caster. "The hotels have been very gracious, the town has been very gracious. We appreciated Roberts Stadium, but we also appreciate the new Ford Center as well."

Organizers say the convention brings in so many people, they have to book hotels as far away as Henderson, KY in addition to several hotels within Evansville and Vanderburgh County.

Jehovah’s Witnesses from around the region will gather in Billings for their annual three-day regional conventions.
An estimated 3,500 adults and children from eastern Montana, the western part of North and South Dakota and northern Wyoming will meet Friday through Sunday in the Rimrock Arena at MetraPark. The public is invited to attend any of the meetings at the free gathering.
“It really is the focal point where you get to strengthen yourself,” said local media spokesman Joe Kurkowski. “It’s good biblical counsel.”
This year’s theme is “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!”
“It's all predicated on trying to build our loyalty with family, with friends and, most importantly, with God," Kurkowski said. “And then there’s the opportunity to meet with friends from a four-state area, some of them who you only see once a year.”
The convention is one of 446 that meet in 120 cities in the United States and a total of 5,000 in 92 countries around the world scheduled through January 2017. The Billings convention will feature 49 presentations, 35 video segments and two short films, all focused on the idea of “loyalty.”
In addition to the spiritual benefits the Jehovah’s Witnesses receive, they also benefit the Billings economy while they’re in town, Kurkowski said. And they appreciate the service they get.
“That’s what helps bring us back to Billings every year, the cooperation we receive from the Metra and the motels and eating establishments,” he said.
In the weeks leading up to the convention, members also go door to door, dropping off invitations to homes in Billings and the surrounding towns. It’s a way to make individuals feel welcome to attend the meetings.
“A convention is a good time to see what Jehovah’s Witnesses are and do, to see what we’re all about,” Kurkowski said.
