A comment on this article and its writer, by John Redwood:
Thanks to Hemant Mehta for picking up my JW Survey article about the JW v Watchtower case and Watchtower's appeal to the US Supreme Court.
Hemant has a brilliant and unique perspective on life, which is why he comes up with some bold titles for his articles.
    Take this one for example:
"The Jehovah's Witnesses Want the Supreme Court to Help Them Cover Up Sex Abuse"
I would like to address this title- because it's EXACTLY the kind of headline Watchtower will call an "Apostate-Driven Lie."
From the standpoint of Watchtower - this title is false and an absolute fabrication. They would say that under no circumstances do they wish to cover up child abuse. Would they be correct?
If one of their elders called headquarters and asked whether this is true or not- headquarters would tell them absolutely not. They would say that they endeavor at all times to cooperate with law enforcement, as stated in their May 2019 Watchtower article about child abuse. They would say that they only keep records of child molesters to protect the congregation, and they should be applauded for their diligence in keeping such situations under control.
So, the elder would hang up the phone satisfied that the JW organization he represents does everything possible to protect children, and that they are not covering up anything.
Hence, he would now go back to his fellow elders and congregation members and say "You see brothers, Satan is really working through the media and is trying very hard to spread these false apostate lies about our organization. We must avoid apostates at all costs, and always turn off the TV when we see such reports"
This is how Jehovah's Witnesses are manipulated and controlled into believing that all false reports and headlines like this are blatant Satanic lies.
    It's very subtle.
Witnesses trust their elders, and the elders trust the organization's leaders, and if those leaders tell them its all lies- they believe it and bring this message back to the flock. Average rank and file Jehovah's Witnesses do not have direct connectivity with the Watchtower legal and Service Departments. Even if they did, they would not get answers and would be told that these matters are being handled by responsible brothers who have prayed for Jehovah's direction - so let's leave the matter in Jehovah's hands.
    Meanwhile- the headlines are true.
When Hemant says the JWs want help covering up child abuse, he's not wrong.
Is the title click-bait? Maybe. But why shouldn't it be? Journalists use catchy titles to grab people's attention. The real question we must ask is "Does the article have the facts to back up the title?"
And in the answer is: Absolutely yes.

This is why Jehovah's Witnesses are on the verge of falling into the chasm of no return, the abyss of disgrace.
The facts could not be any more clear: Jehovah's Witnesses have openly admitted that they collect data from every congregation in the world related to child abusers and their victims, and they openly admit that they have no desire to turn this information over to criminal and civil authorities.
    Period. It's just that simple.
Read their Supreme Court appeal. They are using the United States Constitution as a cover for concealing what they call confidential communications, or "privileged" communications.
it's one thing to say that the confession of a guilty person to their pastor or elder is privileged communication - but it's entirely another matter when three dozen pastors all know about and investigate the crimes committed, and they all claim that it must never be shared with the authorities - or even the families of the victims.
    If that's not a cover-up, I don't know what is.
Facts are facts, and at the end of the day, it all comes down to whose side are you on- the side of truth and transparency, or the side of protecting the reputation and assets of a religion.
If we learned anything from the movie Spotlight, it's that we don't want to be on the wrong side of this.

Witness got a reaction from Patiently waiting for Truth in REMOVAL / DESTRUCTION OF THE GOVERNING BODY
You bring out a couple of good points.  Yet, what does the phrase “Judicial Committee” mean to you, Derek?  It is judgment put upon a person by the elders, men who have the given authority (by the GB) to judge someone as spiritually alive or spiritually dead.  Matt 10:17; John 16:2; 7:1,2; Luke 6:37; James 4:12  Many times this judgment is made on the basis of doctrine that has been dropped or changed by the GB, and those judged refuse to absorb the lie. Or, it is based on the refusal to accept 1914, using scriptures verifying why one rejects it. Others, who read scripture realize there is no earthly organization that must obtain our allegiance, in order for us to receive life. Rev 13:4,12; John 14:6 (edit)  It is enforced because victims of abuse speak out when not receiving the attention and care needed, but are told to get along with their abuser who may reside in the same congregation.  If and when they speak out in pain and suffering against this injustice, THEY are judged as spiritually “dead”, and shunned. Rev 13:15 If these individuals who are disfellowshipped never returned to the organization, do you believe they will be saved in Armageddon?  If not, then you accept the unfair judgment of an organization of men, over that of Christ's law of love.   Rom 2:1-3; Gal 5:14
These are the facts.  Christ has been given the authority to judge individuals based on his Word; even so, if the organization was truly operating under his guidance, the anointed ones – the true priesthood (1 Pet 2:5,9; Rev 5:9,10) – would be leading, teaching and “judging” in righteousness and love, since they would be listening to one Head directly, Jesus Christ; and not to a mediator, the governing body.  Mal 2:7; 1 Cor 6:2
A true “faithful and discreet slave” would not shut the mouths of his brothers and sisters and expect undue allegiance only to their word; threatening them with disfellowshipping if they choose to listen to the gift of Spirit within their heart.  1 John 3:10-12; Matt 24:48-51; John 15:26
I think John recognizes these things, and realizes that men who unofficially judge others with such serious matters, show the WT organization to be a cloaked tyranny.  They play with lives, and ruin them.  The Father and Christ see all. They hear all.  And they will act on the sins of God’s people.  Isa 42:14-17; Rev 18:4-8

My brother (an elder) told me that we couldn't trust the Royal Commission in Australia because they don't have God's spirit.
Well, does the governing body have God's spirit?

Lol this reminds me of a comment during this weekend meeting where a sister is so obiblious of all the child sex abuse within JW organization that she made the comment that all so Christians religions are full of problems and specially regarding child sex abuses where that would never happen within our lovely Christian organization of brothers and sisters.... Yeah right in what world she lives in and that's how many millions of other JWs have no idea. Obviously she didn't watch our Australian Royal Commission....

Witness got a reaction from JayDubya in "WATCHTOWER APPEALS TO THE SUPREME COURT"
    From John Redwood...
    A preview of upcoming news:
Jehovah's Witnesses are appealing to the Supreme Court of the United States, but this time it has nothing to do with preaching or saluting the flag.
    It's all about child abuse.
Specifically, the protection (or cover-up) of information, documents, and testimony of persons involved in cases of child abuse.
I will be covering this story in the coming weeks and months, but I thought I would share some of this news and try to distill it down as simply as I can.
I'd like to point out first that Watchtower has appealed to the Supreme Court in connection with their loss of yet another California child abuse case. The chance that Watchtower's appeal being will be heard by the Supreme Court is slim, but anything is possible.
    What brought this about?
There are many ongoing civil child abuse cases in California. One such case is J.W. versus Watchtower. J.W. happens to be the initials for the victim of former JW elder Gilbert Simental, who went on a spree of molestation which touched the lives of numerous victims.
As with other cases, the plaintiff demanded that Watchtower turn over to the court a database of child abuse cases known to be maintained by Watchtower of New York.
In this particular case, because Watchtower failed to turn over the documents in a timely manner, attorneys asked for a default judgment of just over 4 million dollars.
The court agreed with the plaintiff and entered a default judgment in that amount. Watchtower was required to post a bond of more than 6 million dollars while their appeal was pending.
Watchtower lost their appeal, and the decision of the court was upheld. This decision is final- with one exception.
Watchtower has decided to appeal to the United States Supreme court on the basis that their judicial hearings related to child abuse matters are "confidential intra-faith communications" and that they do not, and should not, reveal those communications or documents to anyone, including civil courts.
I'd like to make it very clear what Watchtower is doing here. They are fighting for their right NOT to allow civil authorities to dictate what is confidential, and what is not confidential.
All of this is in relation to their claim that elders do not have the right or duty to report child abuse to the authorities.
Watchtower overtly lies to their members by claiming that they obey secular laws, except when they conflict with God's laws.
Yet they break the law every single time by advising elders NOT to report child abuse to the authorities.
It does NOT matter whether child abuse occurs in a mandatory reporting state- elders STILL do not report to the police because Watchtower has told them that ALL of their communications are protected by clergy-penitent privilege.
This is false- and it is exactly why they are losing tens of millions of dollars in child abuse civil cases. Watchtower advises elders to break the law.
And now they want the Supreme Court of the United States to agree with them.
The claim that the state of California has unfairly targeted Jehovah's Witnesses and "intruded upon matters of church governance."
    Why???
How does compliance with mandatory child abuse reporting laws conflict with God's laws? It doesn't. This is a fabrication of Watchtower attorneys working for the Governing Body, and it's become quite clear that they feel that compliance with these civil laws will spell disaster for their religion.
    And they might be right.
If Jehovah's Witnesses did the right thing and complied with the law, they would lose the tight grip of control over their elder bodies in ways which frighten the hell out of them.
There is a whole lot more to this story as well as the underlying cases involved, but I wanted to let you know what's going on.
Attorneys for J.W. (the abuse victim) will be filing an opposition to Watchtower's appeal in August, and we should have a decision from the Supreme Court by October on whether they will accept Jehovah's Witnesses appeal for review.
    Stay tuned!!

@James Thomas Rook Jr. this article came from friendly atheist.  Something stuck out to me that was so true: “Given Watchtower’s disrespect for the legal system, penchant for violating court orders and habitual disregard for the rules of the court from which it is begging for mercy, it is not the litigant to champion any allegedly important issue before this Court. This is not a case that warrants this Court’s time.”

Rank and file members aka publishers or in simple words - worldwide brotherhood, are connected spiritually with each other and with God as group of Organized Christians who are bond with particular set of doctrines, beliefs and  hope. In that sense, all relations between them have big "spiritual" aspects. Inside them, as a group, all dealings they have among them, are in some sort of "spiritual" work, reactions (of course with all physical inputs and  outputs, after all we are flesh and blood and bones). Hierarchical structure of "theocracy" appointed elders (semi clerical body) to deal/work with brotherhood.
In WT Society, Lawyers have very significant role. Their dealings with people works in both reality. One reality is with outside world and "worldly people". Another reality is of "spiritual" nature inside "Spiritual Paradise" when they counsel elders, for example, how to respond in "sins" that outside reality considers to be "crime" or what documents bring to Court and what to tell. Inside reality speak only about sin. Sin is "spiritual" term. JW Church consider bad acts as sins, not a crimes. Because Spiritual Judicial System of JW Church accepting only Bible terminology. In this (Bible) reality,  word "crime" not existing. What exists is "sin". For that purpose WT Lawyers must explain to elders what is what and how sins inside JW organization have to be explained to "worldly" reality.
WT Lawyers have special attitude  on JW members. For them, they are only rank and file members. They, members, representing nobody and nothing, except their personal beliefs (beliefs determined by WT Society spiritual revelations of Bible doctrines) in God. Although JW members not representing any of Corporative Entities of WT Society, what also including Congregation he/she visiting regularly, they, as members have some sort of Free Contractual Relation with Legal Entity/Entities. That special relation coming from "Yes" on Second Baptismal Question:
    2) “Do you understand that your baptism identifies you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with Jehovah’s organization?” (from 2019)
    (2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization? (from 1985)
As Group of Organized Christians in Organization that has diversity of Companies with different names, they (members) receiving instructions for Christian life, not only from "spiritual" leaders aka GB and elders inside Spiritual Paradise. But members receiving instructions (in this way or another) from WT Lawyers too, who run life of many Companies/Corporations under different names (Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, is one of names).
Well in that sense, verse you bring ..... The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
..... is interesting. WT Lawyers playing, walking between this two Realities. In that context (Dualism of sort)  it would be very important to know when Organization as Worldly Company is stronger than Organization as Spiritual Paradise and vice versa.

If you don't mind for connecting this two comments.
"Baptism" of this man is done because he want to "dedicate" (guess) himself to God - spiritually , not to WT Society.
But - factually, he made sort of "Contract, in corporative language, with WT Society through WT Representative who immersed him in water.
Well, if God accepted his dedication, despite fact he has two wife's (perhaps he was repentant all the time, but he chooses second wife) than his baptism, spiritually is valid. But second (hidden) part of his "dedication" - to WT Society -  is in question, and that sort of "dedication" has been possible to delete in Administrative manner, because he also was hiding some important information.

I have selected various quotes of yours from the topic,  “Whitewash”:
Witness knows I believe this, he only says I do not because what I say is indeed true concerning God's people. Witness' absurd claim that Spiritual Israel only consist of the chosen ones is false and there is no Scriptural support whatsoever, granted that God's people consist of ALL persons concerning the Christ.
So in a sense, it shows that Witness slanders even in the face of Scripture and still holds claim to be a chosen one.
Because you are ignorant. If God says or does something, who are we to go around his Word, let alone take and or add to it, which is against God's Law? We already see an example with Spiritual Israel whereas not only you ignored those of the spiritual house and insist only the chosen ones are of this house, you deliberately stated there is no Bible evidence to what is said, and yet we have everything concerning the New Covenant in the Bible as evidence.
That being said, so it is ignorance, willfulness, when the Bible informs you on Spiritual Israel.
We already know who Spiritual Israel is. The problem is, you purposefully ignore that Spiritual Israel consist of all of God’s people, not solely and only the chosen ones as you proclaim, which puts your past statements into contradiction concerning the Spiritual House, that of Spiritual Jerusalem.
Exactly, but those of Spiritual consist of all persons in union with the Christ. But you had professed earlier that only the chosen ones are of Spiritual Israel, missing the mark on what the New Covenant is all about.
I haven’t twisted for speaking the truth. You yourself had twisted the truth by purposely not acknowledging the fact that the New Covenant consist of ALL of God’s people who have faith in Jesus, but you preach that it is only the chosen ones who are of Spiritual Israel. Therefore, you had twisted the truth, more so, even much we can go back to your other thread to see how much in err you truly are.
We do not need links, we solely need the Bible. Also, your link only addresses the chosen ones, the focus here is Spiritual Israel, all of God's people.”
JWInsider asked you, “Do you really think that Spirtual Israel is made up both the earthly class and the heavenly class?”
SM:  “Yes. Spiritual Israel is made up of all of God's people, all under one teaching of the Christ, all in union with Christ, and like him, they too have the fullness of God dwelling in them, and each and every single one of them dwell in the Spiritual House as is with God's Temple, that is, the Christ.
I have my reasons for defending even the minor things of the New Covenant due to how mainstream Christendom has tainted it, and I am not the only one who defends such as well. And there are those who speak wrongly of the Covenant wrongly, and far worse and in this regard, the correction by means of the Bible must be made.
But for someone to not recognize those who are in the same house, it is an insult for those who share in the same teachings that stem from Christ, Jesus."
JWI: "I get it.  I just wanted to make sure you knew whether or not you were disagreeing with the current Watchtower position on the topic.  You appear to be disagreeing with the Witness doctrine."
Just a question, SM; is the WT and all JWs, now “ignorant”, “willful” in making “absurd claims”?  Have they “twisted the truth” and caused you “insult”, teaching this perceived falsehood concerning Spiritual Israel as well as the New Covenant?
Is the Watchtower organization still part of "Restorationism", or are they now part of “mainstream Christendom” by “tainting” the understanding of the New Covenant?  Will you continue to sympathize for their work since they have ‘missed the mark’?
    Those under the New Covenant:
    1 Pet 2:5,9; Rev 5:9,10
I’ve already explained how the rest of the children of God benefit from this fulfilled promise of life, in the Kingdom of God.
I'm not the one who put a red Superman cape on Jesus.
I'm curious where you may have found me, since only here am I known as "Witness".  I have not strayed far lately.  Perhaps you are mistaking me for someone else who shares the same message I do.

Apparently, it is okay with you if the group teaches false doctrine, as the WT has and does.  But, according to you, no one must bring up the false doctrine, but accept the group (with their lies) since they propose to be Christians that fit your definition of "Christian".
I am sorry, but it is not me that is the hypocrite.  It very well could be you.

So, you don’t have to define a repentant heart, you are able to “just know” a repentant heart when you see one.  I suppose it would be a lot easier to detect, if this heart returned to “Jehovah’s organization”, where God has supposedly lived for the last 100 years.  Acts 7:48-51; 17:24,25,29-31
Yet, if I say, I am saved through the grace of Jesus Christ, and not through an organization and its “faithful slave”; and I am told by the elders I still must repent for rejecting “Jehovah’s organization”, who is it that is telling a lie?  Acts 4:12; 15:11; Luke 9:35; John 5:43; Luke 21:8; Matt 24:24; Rev 13:11,15
Who really needs to repent?  Rev 3:17-20

Thirty-some years, and 4 VW vans later (one a 1974 bus), I now worship the Father in Spirit and truth.  John 4:23,24  I have repented for giving my worship and devotion to a form of idolatry that is getting more absurd by the day.

TTH stated:  "I don’t really know who anyone here is, nor do I know exactly where he is coming from. I skim a lot. I missed that point of his. It is enough to know that he is not against Jehovah’s people.

The phrase “Jehovah’s people” that SM appears to support, does not include him as one of “Jehovah’s people”, obviously.   Where does that leave anyone who appears to support “Jehovah’s people”?  According to the organization, they become toast in Armageddon, since it is absolutely necessary to be baptized into the organization, to have any chance of surviving into the “new world”.   I doubt if SM would support that belief, but it is the general consensus of JWs.    Where does that leave those who are approached to help WT and its members reach liberty when under ban, or in other times of peril, when they come to their rescue?   These outside individuals are not saved in Armageddon, because they are part of the “world” and not dedicated to the organization. Wasn’t that the sober theme of the special talk following the Memorial this year?  By the way, where is that video these days?  It is hard to find.
People, organizations, political rulers, that are called upon to assist in rescuing “Jehovah’s people”; which equates to, rescuing an organization’s right to exist in this earthly system, will not be thanked by “Jehovah” when the end comes.  All, according to the teachings of the Watchtower.
God has a people; firstfruits of all of his future children, who must be refined and found faithful during their sojourn in Satan’s world.  1 Pet 5:8-10; James 1:18  Their success in fighting off all that Satan deceives them with, proves them acceptable to be a servant and a guide for God’s other “people”, His children to come, in the Kingdom.  Mal 2:7
The priority to be found as one of God’s children, is to receive Christ; individually, not an earthly organization that claims it is led by Christ.  John 1:11-13  There is no Bible based scripture to support this belief. Since those faithful firstfruits are priests that hold in their heart God’s decrees, and are striving to obey Christ’s teachings, the words which may be received by others, contain Spirit from Christ. They choose to listen, believe or walk away.  John 13:20
In the organization, are these “firstfruits” able to speak God’s decrees? No.  They speak what is placed before them by men who glorify themselves, and not the words of Christ. Matt 24:24  As God’s people, they have no ability to speak on behalf of their Head.  Their sacrifices of praise are restricted.  Their spiritual “power” as priests, is gone; and with it, is the truth about who are genuinely, God’s people.
    Isa 43:10; 1 Pet 2:5,9; 1 Cor 3:16,17; Eph 2:20-22; Rev 5:9,10
Dan 8:11,12 - It acted arrogantly even against the Prince of the heavenly army; it revoked his regular sacrifice and overthrew the place of his sanctuary.  12 Because of rebellion, a host, together with the daily sacrifice, will be given over. The horn will throw truth to the ground and will be successful in whatever it does.

“Then I, Daniel, looked, and two others were standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the other. 6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long until the end of these extraordinary things?” 7 Then I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river. He raised both his hands toward heaven and swore by Him who lives eternally that it would be for a time, times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people is shattered, all these things will be completed.”
I heard but did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these things?”
9 He said, “Go on your way, Daniel, for the words are secret and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; none of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand. 11 From the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.  – symbolic days.  Dan 12:5-13
    Dan 11:31; Matt 24:15; 2 Thess 2:3,4; Rev 11:1-3
It is ignorance to believe that God blesses an organization as “Jehovah’s people”, when they do not perceive His Temple, the necessary obligation that His priests must perform, and the vital need for them to be cognizant of their Head, Jesus Christ.  Heb 13:15; Col 2:19  A “faithful and discreet slave” appointed to dispense “food at the proper time", would never usurp the role of Christ by appointing oneself as head over God's anointed ones,  as the GB has.  Matt 24:45-51
The organization is a fantasy world of deceit.  Anyone who supports such a fantasy, whether inside or outside the organization, is spiritually standing on shaky ground. 2 Thess 2:9-12; Rev 16:13,14; 20:7-10; Zech 4:7

Extraordinary ! Do you want to tell here how (Paul was both inspired and infallible) means:
    1) He became infallible because he was accept Christianity
    2) He was infallible because he was inspired 24/7
    3) He was inspired because he became infallible
or Paul was came down from Heaven like Jesus and that is reason for his infallibleness :))
And of course, you offer NO SINGLE VERSE that say/quote: Paul was INSPIRED or Paul was INFALLIBLE. !!!!! Maybe such verses exist, i don't know. But you prove nothing - NO BIBLE VERSES - ONLY Practically regarding what the Bible says, which is the proof right there. -  Later you just made DESCRIPTION about some names in scriptures. And put those names in TWO GROUPS, Inspired and Uninspired Christians.
You can be "academic" how much you want, but so many words you put in comments, without any Bible verse that supports your opinions. And as result of this statement you made:
i think that i can't believe in your teachings/explanations because: you are not "inspired" ... and you are not "infallible" !

Witness got a reaction from Srecko Sostar in "WATCHTOWER APPEALS TO THE SUPREME COURT"
There is a thing called conscience.  Barbara Anderson met a brick wall that bruised her conscience. She took action when the corruption she faced in the "society" she belonged to, needed to be exposed.   She didn't swallow it down as if it didn't exist, but she did her research; as you say you are doing, as a result of being a man of  academia.
However, it is all a conscience matter.  Some individuals freely develop an ineffective conscience, branded and scarred by the influence of hypocrisy.  Even though truth may be right in front of them, they no longer discern the difference between righteousness and unrighteousness, no matter how much research they may find, that exposes the source of hypocrisy.
"God’s Spirit specifically tells us that in later days there will be men who abandon the true faith and allow themselves to be spiritually seduced by teachings of the devil, teachings given by men who are lying hypocrites, whose consciences are as dead as seared flesh. 1 Tim 4:1,2
Then Jesus said, “My coming into this world is itself a judgment—those who cannot see have their eyes opened and those who think they can see become blind.”   John 9:39
