1st time I've heard of a congregation sponsoring an immigrant such as this man:

Alijovski was sponsored, he told Justice O’Brien, by Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belleville and found work there as a hotel dishwasher, enrolling as well in English and a second language classes. Later, after moving to Kingston, Alijovski said, he worked for a metal salvage company, continued his English classes and sent money home to his family in Macedonia.
