Woman Jehovah's Witness claims against the outcome of a trial in the USA.

After a trial in which a jury awarded only $ 30,750 to a plaintiff in a car accident that sued almost $ 250,000 on medical bills, his lawyers are looking for a new trial claiming that juries were prejudiced against her because He recited a promise of loyalty.

The woman is Jehovah's witness, whose religious beliefs prohibit reciting the promise, said his lawyer Michael Goldberg. He added that the defence counsel during the closing arguments made a point of pointing out that "some of us do the oath of allegiance".

"we knew that it was a case of difficult causation that would give rise to the credibility of the applicant and would worry about how it would be perceived because she is a Jehovah's witness", he said by e-mail. "we spent most of the see, asking the members of the jury for their feelings towards Jehovah's witnesses, and as expected, many people had negative feelings towards them".

"our client could not make a commitment because of his religious beliefs and was the only one in the courtroom who did not participate", said Goldberg, who tried the case with fried Rogers Goldberg Partner Eric Rogers. " Unfortunately, that left the jury with the feeling that our client was " Not American ".

Why would the pledge of allegiance be part of a jury trial?

@David Normand Maybe in some courts? Question? Swearing on the Bible? ?

Okay, that could be correct. In North Carolina they allow you to affirm rather than swear on the Bible for those individuals who for some reason object. But, that should not have anything to do with the pledge of allegiance to the country. I have watched numerous shows on TV where courtroom scenes were depicted and cannot recall any of them where a pledge of allegiance was required or even asked.
