Saxifraga - Jehovabloempje (Jehovaflower)

Most flowers have, in addition to an official Latin name, also a common name. That name can be vary country by country. In the extended family the Saxifraga is a small species of flower which grows in the mountains of Europe. In Dutch and German it is called 'Jehovabloempje' and 'Jehovablumchen', translated 'little Jehovah flower'.

The person who gave this flower its common name must have thought, when he saw the red spots on the white petals, of the Hebrew consonants of the Divine Name. That is why this little flower carries the great Name of God.

At least accrediting Jehovah is better than saying it evolved from something.

Amen.
