Controversy

Philadelphia, PA | A man who stripped naked and gave a lap dance to a religious solicitor who had knocked on his door, was arrested this morning and faces some very serious criminal charges which could cost him up to 25 years of jail time.

53-year old Frank Thompson, a construction worker from the Germantown neighborhood, is accused of welcoming 41-year old James Emerson Wyatt in his residence on Tuesday, before taking his clothes off and engaging in a “sexually aggressive dance” meant to offend his visitor.

Mr Wyatt, a respected member of the Jehovah’s witness religious organization, filed a complaint with the Philadelphia Police Department yesterday, claiming that he was the victim of a  sexual assault motivated by religious enmity.

“He seemed polite at first, he invited me in and offered me a coffee,” Mr. Wyatt told reporters. “But after a couple of minutes, the look on his face changed completely and he began to take his clothes off. He began slapping his own ass, screaming offensive stuff like “Do me like you would do Jehovah”,”I’ll give you a taste of heaven” and other hate-filled comments. He then sat on me and began thrusting his hips in a sexually provocative manner. I really felt dirty and soiled… It was the worst day of my life.”

Mr. Wyatt says that this aggression has not altered his determination to continue going from door to door and spreading his faith, but he says he will make sure to be accompanied by a colleague in the future.

Mr Thompson’s lawyer, Roger David Smith, met reporters to denounce the accusations filed against his client as “ridiculous and excessive”, saying his client was being harassed by Jehovah’s witnesses and has resolved to “desperate measures” in order to end the unceasing harassment.

According to him, Mr Thompson suffers from a serious medical condition and needs some regular blood transfusions to live, a medical procedure forbidden to Jehovah’s witnesses.

He claims that he told many of the solicitors of the faith, including Mr Wyatt, to leave him alone, since a conversion would represent a death sentence for him, but they kept visiting his home almost once a day.

“My client was visited 5 to 10 times a week by religious solicitors, for the last two years,” Mr. Smith told reporters. “He was constantly being harassed by Jehovah’s witnesses, and he just couldn’t take it anymore. He was naively hoping that if he had a shocking behavior, they might leave him alone. Mr. Thompson is really the victim in all this, and he shouldn’t be accused.”

This controversial case is already generating a lot of comments on the social media, and it promises to generate more, as Mr. Thompson’s trial is scheduled to begin before the United States District Court in Philadephia, on April 5.
