ย How to be a Friend.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿถ

ย (True Friends) should follow

the words of Matthew 18:

15 โ€œMoreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. 17 If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector. 18 โ€œTruly I say to YOU men, Whatever things YOU may bind on earth will be things bound in heaven, and whatever things YOU may loose on earth will be things loosed in heaven."

Pursue Peace

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–

โ€œLet us pursue the things making for peace.โ€โ€”ROM. 14:19

TRUE peace is hard to find in todayโ€™s world. Even people belonging to the same national group and speaking the same language are often divided religiously, politically, and socially. By contrast, Jehovahโ€™s people are united despite the fact that they have come out of โ€œall nations and tribes and peoples and tongues.โ€โ€”Rev. 7:9.

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–

The peaceful condition that generally exists among us is no accident. It has come about primarily because we โ€œenjoy peace with Godโ€ through our faith in his Son, whose shed blood covers our sins. (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 1:7) Moreover, the true God gives holy spirit to his loyal servants, and the fruitage of that spirit includes peace. (Gal. 5:22) Another reason for our peaceful unity is that we are โ€œno part of the world.โ€ (John 15:19) Rather than taking sides in political issues, we remain neutral. Having โ€˜beaten our swords into plowshares,โ€™ we do not get involved in civil or international wars.โ€”Isa. 2:4

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–

The peace we can enjoy with one another goes deeper than merely refraining from doing harm to our brothers. Although the congregation of Jehovahโ€™s Witnesses that we belong to may be made up of individuals from many different ethnic groups and cultures, we โ€œlove one another.โ€ (John 15:17) Our peace allows us to โ€œwork what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to us in the faith.โ€ (Gal. 6:10) Our peaceful spiritual paradise is something to be treasured and safeguarded. Let us, therefore, examine how we may pursue peace within the congregation.

When We Stumble

๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ

โ€œWe all stumble many times,โ€ wrote the disciple James. โ€œIf anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect man.โ€ (Jas. 3:2) Hence, differences and misunderstandings between fellow believers are bound to arise. (Phil. 4:2, 3) However, problems between individuals can be solved without disturbing the peace of the congregation. For example, consider the counsel we should apply if we realize that we may have offended someone.โ€”Read Matthew 5:23, 24.

๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ

What if we have been wronged in some small way? Should we expect the offender to come to us and apologize? โ€œ[Love] does not keep account of the injury,โ€ states 1 Corinthians 13:5. When offended, we pursue peace by forgiving and forgetting, that is, by โ€˜not keeping account of the injury.โ€™ (Read Colossians 3:13.) Minor transgressions in day-to-day life are best handled in this way, for this contributes to a peaceful relationship with fellow worshippers and gives us peace of mind. A wise proverb states: โ€œIt is beauty . . . to pass over transgression.โ€โ€”Prov. 19:11

๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒพ

What if we find that a certain offense is too difficult for us to overlook? Spreading the matter to as many ears as are willing to hear is certainly not the course of wisdom. Such gossip serves only to disrupt the peace of the congregation. What should be done to resolve the matter peacefully? Matthew 18:15 states: โ€œIf your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.โ€ While Matthew 18:15-17 applies to sin of a serious nature, in the spirit of the principle stated in verse 15, we should kindly approach the offender privately and try to restore a peaceful relationship with him.*

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–

The apostle Paul wrote: โ€œBe wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with you in a provoked state, neither allow place for the Devil.โ€ (Eph. 4:26, 27) โ€œBe about settling matters quickly with the one complaining against you at law,โ€ said Jesus. (Matt. 5:25)ย

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–

Pursuing peace, then, calls for settling difficulties quickly. Why? Because doing so prevents differences from festering like an untreated, infected wound. Let us not allow pride, envy, or the attaching of too much importance to material things prevent us from resolving disputes soon after they arise.โ€”Jas. 4:1-6.

      LIFEISNOWHERE ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบย OR ?
      LIFE IS NO WHERE? ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ
ARE you facing changes in your life? Are you finding it hard to accept those changes? Most of us have been or will be in that situation. Some real-life examples from the past can help us to identify qualities that will be useful.
      ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฅ€
For example, consider David and the many changes he had to deal with. He was a mere shepherd boy when Samuel anointed him as future king. While still young, he volunteered to fight the Philistine giant Goliath. (1 Sam. 17:26-32, 42) Young David was invited to live at the royal court of King Saul and was appointed as head of the army. David could not even have imagined all these changes in his life; nor could he have anticipated what would happen next.
      ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฅ€
Davidโ€™s relationship with Saul became extremely strained. (1 Sam. 18:8, 9; 19:9, 10) To save his own life, David had to live as a fugitive for several years. Even when he was reigning as king over Israel, his circumstances changed drastically, especially after he committed adultery and, in an effort to cover up that sin, murder. As a result of his own sins, he had calamities within his family. Among other things, David experienced the rebellion of his son Absalom. (2 Sam. 12:10-12; 15:1-14) Still, after David repented of his sins of adultery and murder, Jehovah forgave him and David was restored to Godโ€™s favor.
      ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฅ€
Your circumstances may also change. Health problems, economic hardships, or family difficultiesโ€”even our own actionsโ€”produce changes in our lives. What qualities can help us be better prepared to cope with such challenges?
      ๐Ÿฅ€๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฅ€
We will constantly find ourselves facing changes in our lives. Sometimes it is not easy to understand why things happen. Personal limitations and emotional tension may make it difficult for us to maintain a spiritual outlook. Still, such qualities as humility, modesty, and meekness will help us to accept the changes and remain in Godโ€™s favor.

      How important is a Greeting?
      ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
It tells a story that a man working at a meatpacking plant in Norway. One day, finishing your work schedule, was one of the refrigerators to inspect something, shut the door to the safe and got stuck in the refrigerator. He knocked hard on the door and started screaming, but no one listened.
      ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
Most workers had already retired to their homes, and it was almost impossible to hear it for the thickness I had that door.
      ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
He had five hours in the refrigerator on the verge of death.
      Suddenly the door opened.
The security guard came and rescued him.
After that, the guard asked: "Why is it that came open that door, being that is not part of your work routine?".
He explained: "I've been in this business 35 years, hundreds of workers entering the plant each day, but he is the one who greets me in the morning and said goodbye to me in the evenings. The remaining workers treat me as if I was invisible. "
"Today I said Hello! at the entrance, but never heard: you say; See you tomorrow!"ย So I was worried and came to look for you!
      ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
Jesus asked, "If you greet your brothers only, what extraordinary thing do? Do not do the same thing also the people of the nations "(Matt. 5:47).ย
      ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿค๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
Regarding the importance of greeting, the consultant Donald Weiss wrote: "Nobody likes him that others pass by without even looking at it. There really is no excuse to appease those who have achieved overlooked. The solution is simple: greet each other and talk to them. "Indeed, if we are careful not cold shoulder or indifference to those around us, we will get good results. โ€“ Contributed ๐Ÿค

      Eagle
The eagle is mentioned many times in the Bible, and its striking silhouette is a familiar feature of the Promised Land. From its nest high up on a cliff, the eagle โ€œsearches for food; its eyes look far into the distance.โ€ ( Hello guest! ๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฆ…
Just as the eagle can โ€œlook far into the distance,โ€ Jehovah is able to look far into the future. Thus, Jehovah God declared: โ€œFrom the beginning I foretell the outcome, and from long ago the things that have not yet been done.โ€ ( Hello guest! The Bible also compares those who trust in God to eagles: โ€œThose hoping in Jehovah will regain power. They will soar on wings like eagles.โ€ ( Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. ) An eagle soars by using thermals, or columns of rising warm air. Once the eagle locates a thermal, it spreads out its wings and circles around within the column of air, rising higher and higher. The eagle does not depend on its own strength to soar and glide long distances.ย
      ๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฆ…
Likewise, those who trust in Jehovah can look to him as the one who promises them โ€œthe power beyond what is normal.โ€โ€” Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. .

      Pets Provided for Manโ€™s Good

God created animals for the sake of humans. Animals can help them do their work and can serve as their companions or pets. They also serve to magnify Godโ€™s love and wisdom. Surely it is a pleasure to observe the beauty of animals and to learn more about the Creator from a study of their marvelous instinctive wisdom. ( Hello guest! (Psalms 104:24).
God dearly loves his human creation; should we not, in turn, show consideration and affection for the animals that he has entrusted to our care and oversight? Those who possess such love have often been drawn to the wonderful prospects of enjoying animalsas our Creator originally intended.ย

In Jehovahโ€™s new world, people will be able to touch the furry mane of a lion, to stroke the striped coat of a tiger and, yes, to sleep in the woods without fear of any animal doing them harm. Notice this promise of God: โ€œI shall certainly cause the injurious wild beast to cease out of the land, and they [humans] will actually dwell in the wilderness in security and sleep in the forests.โ€โ€” Hello guest! Indeed, wild animals will then be in submission, even to little children! The Bible says: โ€œThe wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them.โ€

Jehovahโ€™s Eyes - Is He Looking at You? - Can you See His Face with Eyes of Understanding? - Learn How you can See Him! - It will Touch Your Heart!ย
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
God helps humans to understand and appreciate things about himself by likening them to things that we see and know well. Thus he speaks figuratively of his โ€œeyesโ€ being on his people, evidently indicating his watchfulness and loving care for them. The apostle Peter says: โ€œThe eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous ones.โ€ (1Pe 3:12)
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
God emphasizes this care and sensitiveness for their welfare when he speaks of his servants as โ€œthe pupilโ€ of his eye, metaphorically representing their preciousness in his sight and his quickness to act in their behalf when touched by the enemy.
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Deuteronomy 32:10) . . .He came to find him in a wilderness land, And in an empty, howling desert. He began to encircle him, to take care of him, To safeguard him as the pupil of his eye."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Psalm 17:8) . . .Keep me as the pupil of the eyeball, In the shadow of your wings may you conceal me."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
Describing Godโ€™s observation of the actions of all men, Jeremiah wrote that His โ€œeyes are opened upon all the ways of the sons of men, in order to give to each one according to his ways.โ€ (Jer 32:19)ย
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
Of Jehovahโ€™s omniscience and his purpose to exercise justice toward all, the apostle Paul wrote: โ€œThere is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting.โ€ (Hebrews 4:13)ย
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(2 Chronicles 16:9) . . .For, as regards Jehovah, his eyes are roving about through all the earth to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Psalm 66:7) 7 He is ruling by his mightiness to time indefinite. Upon the nations his own eyes keep watch. As for those who are stubborn, let them not be exalted in themselves. Seโ€ฒlah."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Proverbs 15:3) . . .The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, keeping watch upon the bad ones and the good ones."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
Of the searching quality of Godโ€™s examination of men, the psalmist says: โ€œHis own eyes behold, his own beaming eyes examine the sons of men.โ€โ€”Ps 11:4
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
One cannot understand Godโ€™s purposes without the gift of spiritual eyesight. On the other hand, Jehovah hides his truth from the eyes of those who are stubborn or rebellious, letting โ€œtheir eyes become darkened.โ€ (Ro 11:8-10)
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Luke 19:42) . . .saying: โ€œIf you, even you, had discerned in this day the things having to do with peaceโ€”but now they have been hid from your eyes."
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
โ€œThey have [literal] eyes, but they cannot see [spiritually].โ€โ€”Jer 5:21
      ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‘
(Isaiah 59:10) . . .We keep groping for the wall just like blind men, and like those without eyes we keep groping. We have stumbled at high noon just as in evening darkness; among the stout ones [we are] just like dead people."ย

    • QUICK REVIEW So, we have these six words or terms from Matthew 24 (Mark 13 & Luke 21) for which we are trying to evaluate whether we have chosen a more likely meaning of the term, or a less likely meaning in order to arrive at the INVISIBLE PAROUSIA doctrine. It might even be possible to trace how some of the terms were apparently forced into their special meaning after the decision was made to declare that the PAROUSIA had indeed already begun. BACKGROUND Most of the persons who set dates for the visible return of Christ in the 19th century just stopped setting them as soon as a date didn't pan out. But some had invested so much time and effort into it that this was apparently impossible. Hundreds of thousands paid close attention to the 1843 date set initially by William Miller. When it failed another 1843 date was set, then an 1844 date, and Miller quit setting dates. (Russell would later claim that this showed that Miller was one of the 'foolish virgins whose lamp ran out of oil,' because Miller had given up on setting dates.) But others who had invested their life and reputation on it waited right up to the last day of 1844. Then, of course, new "adjustments" were discovered that put Jesus return in the 1850's, then the 1860's. But by now there were only tens of thousands paying attention. The typical thing to do was to show your faith by focusing on the very next date, but N H Barbour, after some study and decisions in 1859, decided to skip all those expectations for the mid-1860's and go straight to his 1873 date. (He did not settle on 1874 until 1873 failed.)ย  This means that when the 1860's dates failed, Barbour was already set to gain a following for the 1873 date. Less people were setting dates, there were less to choose from that were still based on the Millerite foundation. (Miller himself had mentioned the possibility of the 1870's date, half a century earlier.) When it failed in 1873, Barbour had spent as much of his life as Miller had on these dates. He changed it to 1874, and when that failed he was truly depressed. One of his contributors, B W Keith, went back to some teachings that had been promoted in the 1820's about a two-stage parousia. The first stage would be invisible, and Benjamin Wilson who also believed in a two-stage parousia had published the "Diaglott" as an aid to supporting this idea. (Later the Watch Tower Society--Russell--bought the rights to reprint Benjamin Wilson's Diaglott so that most available copies today have the Watch Tower's name in them.) Barbour credited Keith with the two-stage idea in his tract ("magazine") and it got Barbour back on track. Barbour spoke about possibly picking up an extra 5,000 of the Second Adventists each month as new subscribers. He fully expected at least 20,000 of the current number of Second Adventists to subscribe. In 1877, Barbour convinced Russell of the urgency of this chronology, because just 3.5 years after the presence had begun, they expected Christ's bride to be changed and to have gone up to heaven in 1878 while "lesser" Christians awaited heaven at a later date. So the Russells sold off most of the assets of their largest company so that Barbour could distribute his tracts and booklets more widely. When 1878 failed, subscribers dropped, and trouble also broke out between Barbour and Russell. Barbour blamed it on disagreements with Russell about money. Russell blamed it on a doctrinal disagreement. (Russell had "crazy" views about the ransom that are no longer considered valid, and Barbour had his own "crazy" view.) By mid-1879 Russell had convinced three major contributors to Barbour to come over to his own new magazine. Russell also sent out an offer to all the Barbour subscribers to switch over to the Watch Tower. And it was also timed to pick up the current subscribers of a Second Adventist magazine from California as that magazine was just running out of money and discontinuing. So Russell printed up 8,000 copies of the first July 1879 issue. In 1879, there was still an urgency again for the next major date, because Russell expected the Bride of Christ to be changed in October 1881. (3.5 years plus 3.5 years from October 1874.) Lesser Christians would remain on earth until around 1914, when the Harvest would be complete. Because of the failure of 1881, the number of subscribers remained low. (8,000 had been an overestimate.) But the book series, Divine Plan of the Ages (1886), The Time is at Hand (1889), and Thy Kingdom Come (1891), were very popular, "proving" the 1874 chronology with charts containing pyramids and diagrams, and pointing to great expectations between then and up to 1914. Everything was invested into this idea of a two-stage parousia that started invisibly in 1874 and would manifest itself most visibly in the years just prior to 1914 (later adjusted to the year and months just following 1914). ---------------- Most people here are probably already generally aware of this background information, but it is difficult to understand why parts of the 1874 chronology lasted nearly 70 years -- until 1943/1944 without this background. (My father remembers believing in 1874, but says they were mostly calling it 1878 just before he was baptized.) It also can help explain why it was easy to just transfer the explanation of Matthew 24 from an 1874 chronology over to a 1914 chronology when that became necessary. It still remained a "two-stage Parousia" in every case. Will pick up on another one of the terms in the next post.
    • Amid all the excitement over the Tesla Model 3 Delivery Event tonight, another big piece of news managed to slide under the radar this week: All of Teslaโ€™s premium interior options will be completely leather-free. The Tesla representative could only confirm this transition for the Model S and Model X, but Musk has previously tweeted that leather-free will be an option for the Model 3. Teslas still come with leather steering wheels, but there are leather-free options available. โ€œCars still come with leather-wrapped steering wheels, but cruelty-free vegan options have been offered upon request in the past,โ€ PETA said in a Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. . Animal agriculture โ€” including the leather industry โ€” is responsible for 51 percent of all greenhouse-gas emissions. Turning animal skins into leather also requires 130 different chemicals, including toxins like cyanide, and to cap it off, leather production uses 15,000 gallons of water per ton of hides. Tesla has always offered the vegan option of standard cloth seating, but PETA, which is a Tesla shareholder, has long pressured the automaker to drop leather seats entirely by 2019. Although Tesla stockholders voted against the proposition, the following year Tesla rolled out its first synthetic leather premium seating option in โ€œUltra Whiteโ€ for the Model X, a victory for vegan Tesla lovers. PETA Director of Corporate Affairs Anne Brainard noted that other luxury car companies have also begun offering faux-leather seating as an option. โ€œPETA will continue to urge all companies to follow Teslaโ€™s lead in choosing sustainability and kindness over cruelty,โ€ Brainard said. • AllenSmith: Just because someone is EXTREMELY critical of someone else's performance, competence, or motives ... does NOT necessarily make them an opposer. It's like "God LOVES you, he just hates the bad things you do ..." which we hear quite often. I can be a great fan of the New York Yankees baseball team but when someone fouls up ... player, coach or manager, etc., I might completely excoriate them, and "rip them a new one" .. AND STILL BE A LOYAL FAN! Loyalty being "My Country, right or wrong ... but MY COUNTRY" ( Nathan Hale), only works with politics, by those not claiming a special relationship with God. The German Army once had belt buckles with the inscription "Got Mit Uns", or "God is with us". Their mission to spread German Culture and Civilization to the World was opposed, and with blood, fire and steel, they had to be destroyed .... TWICE! ย
