Stanley ‘Stosh’ Muzychko, 82, enjoyed fishing and woodworking

WILMINGTON — Stanley ‘Stosh’ Muzychko, 82, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, surrounded by his friends and family at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Stosh, as he was referred to by his wife and friends, was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Philip and Mary Muzychko. He graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield, N.J., in 1953.

He began his career working as an auto mechanic at a Sunoco station in Rahway, which was across the street from an ice cream shop where he first met his wife. He moved on to start his successful auto repair business and would eventually partner with his son Michael until his retirement.

Stosh enjoyed fishing, woodworking, taking friends and family on his first boat the “Chris Miss” on the Raritan Bay, his retirement in North Carolina, and spending time with his family and friends. Overall, Stosh enjoyed anything that involved helping others.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Muzychko; daughter, Christine Berko, and her husband, Michael Berko; son, Michael Muzychko, and his wife, Joyce Muzychko ; grandchildren, Drew, Lisa, Matthew and Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Stanley and Evangeline Lucie; as well as many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Sashen and Stephanie Saley; and brothers, Vasil, Nicholas, Peter, Walter and Edward.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23, at the Bolivia Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. An additional service will be held in Central New Jersey in a few weeks.
