Mary Lois Richards age 93, fell asleep in death on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Laurel Health and Rehab Center in Laurel.

She was born June 20, 1923, in Uniontown, Kentucky. She and her brother, Pete, were raised by their grandparents. When Mary was 19, she moved to Evansville, Indiana. There, she began to work at Shane Uniform Company, where she met the love of her life, Samuel William “Bill” Richards. They were married in 1942. He served in World War II for three years. When he returned they settled in Evansville, where they raised two daughters. They became Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1953, and remained active until their deaths.

Mary will be remembered for her warm smiling face, her southern charm, and her spiffy style. She had a strong love for her family, her friends, and her faith.

Though Bill preceded her in death 40 years prior, she remained devoted to him and longed for the day when they would be united again in the new world.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Lista Saturley and Barbara (Larry) Pratt. Her five grandchildren, Janelle (Heath) Riedesel, Crystal (Boyd) Charter, Ryan (Rachel) Saturley, Eric (Naomi) Saturley, and Chad (Hollie) Saturley and her seven great-grandchildren Ethan, Taylin, and Nolan Riedesel, and China, Nya, Alena, and Joslyn Saturley.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, April 8, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1007 West 4th St. in Laurel. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Laurel Senior Citizen Center at 720 South 4th St. in Laurel.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Laurel Health and Rehab Center for their kindness and to also express our sincere appreciation for all the love and care shown by all our friends and other family members.
