Audrey E. Aufforth was born in Oregon in 1933. She married her first husband, Lanny Johnson, and moved to San Diego where he was stationed. They moved to the Los Angeles area and had 5 children: Catherine, Clarissa, Gabriel, Kenneth and Sonya. Audrey married her second husband, Fred Aufforth, in Pasadena, and later moved to Santa Maria where they lived the rest of their lives, and had another child, Maurice.

They chose the perfect neighborhood on Palisades and found that she didn't just love her own children, she loved all children. Her house became the local hangout of the many neighborhood kids and she made sure they were cared for, and babysat. She had many deep and lasting relationships with her neighbors along the block. Her oldest friends, Dallas and Sharon Wiseman, and their children, Nicki and Mandi; John and Sharon Furiman, and their children John, MarleeAnn, David and Sharie share our grief acutely. she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed a loving, caring, extended family in the various congregations she attended.

One of her greatest joys was traveling. She and her husband, Fred, were able to visit all of North America - all 9 provinces in Canada, and all 50 of these United States, and Mexico. She enjoyed a yearly trip with her daughter Claire to visit her oldest surviving relative in Oregon - her Aunt Dee, aged 97, and the extended family in Oregon. She loved conversing with people and writing letters to them.

Audrey was the consummate homemaker, enjoying cooking, sewing, embroidery, quilting, crocheting, and crafts. She always clipped coupons for everyone and sent them to all of her children. She loved nature, especially the birds, particularly the hummingbirds she regularly kept fed.

Universally known for being sweet, patient, and kind. She was loved by most everyone who encountered her and is sorely missed.

Audrey is preceded in death by her husbands Lanny Johnson and Fred Aufforth, and her daughter Sonya Jarman. She is survived by her children, Cathy Miller, Claire Johnson, Gabe Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Maurice Aufforth. She is survived by her grandchildren Joanne Harms, Andrew Miller, Starla Luis, Gabriel Johnson Jr., Devin Jarman, Joselyn Jarman, Galvin Jarman, and Sophie Champeaux, and her great-grandchildren Hailey Clausing, Shana Johnson and Jonathan Johnson.

Her memorial services will be conducted on August 5th, at 2:00 pm. The location is:
