A Memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara Ann Decuir Gilliam, 57, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1401 Marjie St., New Iberia.

Brother Kenny Miller will officiate the service. Interment will be private.

The family will receive guests Saturday at noon until time of services.

Barbara was born July 26, 1960, in Lafayette to the union of Shirley Henry Decuir and the late Otis Decuir Sr.

After completing high school, she furthered her education at SLCC in accounting. She married Curtis Gilliam and they were blessed with two children. She was also a member of Kingdom Hall of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four siblings, Otis Decuir Jr., Lawrence Decuir Sr., Rhonda Decuir and Lillian Henry.

Barbara passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in Lafayette following a brief illness with her family at her bedside.

Barbara leaves to cherish her love and many wonderful memories include her two children and their father, Kenjawria Gilliam, Kendrall Gilliam and Curtis Gilliam, all of New Iberia; her mother, Shirley Henry Decuir; four siblings, William (Mary Nell) Decuir, Joseph Decuir, Jacqueline (James) Boutte and Loria Lewis, all of New Iberia; four grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends who will miss her presence.
