SAUK PRAIRIE - Nancy Lee Sprecher, 80, of Sauk Prairie, passed away at UW Hospital on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She gave her all trying to prevail over an infection. Her mind was sharp, but her body grew too tired to go on.

Undoubtedly her absence will be felt deeply by her precious daughter, Susan Sprecher-Bigler and granddaughter, Taylor Christopherson. The moment Susie came into Nancy’s life, she became a devoted mother. They experienced many ups and downs together over the years, remaining close friends always.

The joy of being able to be Susie’s mom may have only been surpassed by her joy in becoming Nana to Taylor. Any who spoke with her in recent years know she would have been happy to pull out her iPad and show you some pictures of whatever Taylor had been up to of late. Last year she was also very pleased to welcome Nate and Lexi Bigler as her son-in-law and granddaughter.

Nancy was born on August 2,, 1937, to Irving and Alice Kemnitz (Heitman) in Markesan, Wis. She had four siblings – Rodger (Joan) Kemnitz, Mona Kemnitz, Rodney (Montie) Kemnitz and Marlo (Scott) Janas. She always enjoyed going “home” and playing cards with them. She was particularly proud that her entire family, including her nieces and nephews, shared her faith.

Nancy married her beloved Frank Url on June 23, 1957. They enjoyed many friendships during their time in Madison, friendships that have endured until even now. Life with Frank was full of love and adventure until he died suddenly on December 5, 1981.

On February 5, 1983, Fancy Nancy married her best friend and “sweetie pie”, Vilas D. Sprecher. He was a light in her life and they enjoyed each other’s company tremendously. Along with Vilas came a large family which Nancy cared for very much.

Kathy and Mike Manderfield and their children – Kendra and Brad Moore, Chris and Trudee Manderfield, Jorie Manderfield; Doug and Bobbi Sprecher and their children – Landon & Brooke Sprecher, Brittney Sprecher and Ryan Kosiorek, Buffi and David Schade, Breann and Andy Micke; Dennis and Becky Sprecher and their daughter – Vanessa and Dustin Lofgren; Delbert and Shari Sprecher and their children – Chad and Katie Sprecher, Heather Sprecher; Debbie and Peter Kingslow; Robert and Lisa Sprecher; and Duane Sprecher. Nancy received so much joy from her six great-grandchildren – Bailey Sprecher, Jackson and Isla Moore; Molly, Amelia and Natalie Manderfield; especially after losing her dear, sweet Vilas in April of 2013.

Nancy loved creation, particularly her flowers and hummingbirds. During summer evenings, one could easily see over 20 hummingbirds at a time feeding in her gardens. This love for creation stemmed from her great love for Jehovah God. Nancy faithfully served as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for some 60 years. Her love for “the friends” was apparent in the time and attention she would give each of them.

The stories she had to share from her years in the truth were marvelous to listen to. Her favorite scripture, Revelation 21:4, now carries even more meaning for those closest to her.

A memorial will be held at the KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES, 5475 Portage Road, Madison, on Saturday February 3,, 2018. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a talk will be delivered by Randy Larson at 3 p.m. A luncheon will follow at the Waunakee Community Center, 333 S. Madison St, Waunakee.
