Rolla M. Montee

PROPHETSTOWN – Rolla M. Montee of Prophetstown died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

He was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Crawford County near Alma, Kansas, the son of Rolla R. and Maurine (Hoffman) Montee.

He graduated in 1950 from Washington High School in Racine, Wisconsin. He married Janice Koch on Sept. 17, 1955, in Milwaukee. She survives him. They became parents to Victoria (John deceased) Stokes, Pamela Montee, Linda Montee, and Paul Montee.

They moved from Racine to Prophetstown in 1966, where he worked for Micro Gear. He left Micro Gear in 1969 to start his own business, LaMont Gear in Rock Falls. He retired in 2006 from the business.

He enjoyed time with family, golfing, Cajun and blue grass music, and yard work with his John Deere riding mower.

He was a member of Rock Falls Congregation of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses.

There will be no scheduled funeral or visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded. McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown is handling arrangements.
