Jean Alma Gifford Oberholtzer

Jean Alma Gifford Oberholtzer, 77, passed away peacefully January 17, 2018 at Jupiter Medical Pavilion, FL.

Jean was born in Lancaster, PA to Leon and Mildred Gifford on June 18, 1940. She attended Manheim Central High School and graduated in 1958. Jean was married to Wilbur Oberholtzer on October 22, 1960, and recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Jean lived much of her life near Mount Gretna. She resided with Wilbur in Hobe Sound, FL for several years until her death. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 18, 1965. She loved sharing in a volunteer Bible educational work for over 52 years and enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing about God's Kingdom. She attended the Fruitville Pike congregation in Lititz for many years before moving to the Tequesta Congregation in Jupiter, Florida. What Jean was also known for, and will always be remembered for, is her great love of animals. She had a natural ability to care for all kinds of wildlife. Many individuals would bring wounded animals which she would nurse back to recovery. She cared for a variety of wildlife including chipmunks, raccoon, squirrels, groundhogs, deers, owls, and bluejays just to name a few.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Mildred Gifford; and sister Helen Webb. She is survived by and will greatly be missed by her husband, Wilbur Oberholtzer, her sister Betty Rambler, sons Jeffrey Oberholtzer and his wife Sheri of Hobe Sound FL, Steven B. Oberholtzer and his wife Lisa of Lititz PA; and two grandchildren Austin X. Oberholtzer of Jönköping, Sweden and Kadeja B. Fritz of Lancaster, PA and one great-grandson Gulliver Oberholtzer of Jönköping, Sweden.
