He will crush your head.—Gen. 3:15. The Edenic promise not only emphasized that the instigator of the rebellion in the garden of Eden and all ill effects of his action would be done away with but also identifies the means by which this would take place. Who would the woman’s offspring prove to be? Since the offspring is to crush the serpent’s head, that is, “bring to nothing” the spirit creature Satan the Devil, the offspring would have to be a spirit person (Heb. 2:14) Therefore, the woman giving birth to the offspring would also be of a spiritual nature. While the offspring of the serpent proliferated, the identity of the offspring and the woman remained a mystery …

Jehovah's Witnesses under pressure ? Some people argue that we would be as Jehovah's Witnesses under constant pressure because we have so many obligations. For this an illustration: Thinking about an Olympic champion. He stands on the podium, waiting to receive his certificate and medal. Then someone comes along, he shakes hands and says: "I feel sorry for you, you are under constant pressure. Always you had to work on yourself and train and your coach had to constantly correct anything !!" The Olympic champion would be astonished determined by such a statement. Also we have one goal in mind: the real and eternal life! Even if we have to work …

Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Brooklyn properties see price surge
by Guest Nicole- 0 replies

The Jehovah’s Witnesses have had such a tremendous response to their Brooklyn land and office offerings that they have now hired Bob Knakal of Cushman & Wakefield to vet the wheat from the chaff. Additionally, with “dozens” of offers received from both locals and global players, sources say the bidders are also now expecting a winnowing second round. The Witnesses are selling both a rare 135,000-square-foot tract of vacant land at 85 Jay St. for a mixed-use project as well as the four-building office complex of 733,000 square feet at 25-30 Columbia Heights. Because of the interest and coming second round, pricing is now expected to be well over the $300…

Wrong Expectations A teacher teaching Maths to seven-year-old Laiq asked him, “If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?” Within a few seconds Laiq replied confidently, “Four !” The dismayed teacher was expecting an effortless correct answer, three. She was disappointed. “Maybe the child did not listen properly.” – she thought. She repeated, “Laiq, listen carefully. If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?” Laiq had seen the disappointment on his teacher’s face. He calculated again on his fingers. But within him he was also searching for the answer that will make t…

A man, went into the woods and was looking for a tree of precious wood. He felled him and went on his way back. As he went on so did the tribe to become increasingly difficult. So he stopped and sawed off a piece. Since it was already easier. After several hours he paused again and again he sawed at its root. The road took a long time and again he sawed off a little. Then it began to dawn, and in the distance he could see lights .... how happy he was, because he came to his goal getting closer. But suddenly he was standing in front of a ravine. There was no bridge, but he had his trunk while he only ....... was now too short ...... it was not enough, he had too…

You will be witnesses of me . . . to the most distant part of the earth.—Acts 1:8. From the start of his ministry, Jesus stressed the importance of proclaiming the good news of God’s Kingdom. He chose 12 disciples to share in laying the foundation for a global ministry; afterward, he trained a group of 70 disciples. (Luke 6:13; 10:1) These were prepared to take the good news to others, at first to the Jews. Then, a surprise! Jesus’ disciples were going to take it to uncircumcised ones of the nations. What a change that must have been for zealous Jewish disciples! The apostle Peter was sent to the home of Cornelius, an uncircumcised Gentile. Peter then recognized that…

According to Robert King and his book "Jehovah Himself Has Become King" from page 142 till page 160 we have a detailed list of watchtower publications that promote UN. I will give you an example: Awake! July 22 1999 the Governing Body tells us that 1999 is the international year of older Persons. 1994 also just so happened to be the UN’s “International Year of the Family” (Watchtower Magazine 9-15-95). 1995 was to be the UN “Year of Tolerance”. (Watchtower Magazine 10-1-95). The year 1998 was the UN-declared “International Year of the Ocean,” (June 8, 1998, Awake!). The year 2001 was designated by the United Nations as the “International Year of Volunteers.”(January 1,…

New Kensington sign language interpreter finds work 'rewarding'
by Guest Nicole- 1 reply

Cori Adoh remembers her favorite assignment as a sign language interpreter. It was at a Cleveland hospital, where a deaf mother was giving birth and needed help to communicate with doctors and nurses. “Where I can touch lives the most, to me, is the most rewarding,” she said. For Adoh, 40, of New Kensington, sign language started as an informal curiosity and became a career. “A deaf person has to find ways to communicate with people every day,” Adoh said. “They can't just walk in (a fast-food restaurant) and say, ‘I want a number 3.' ” Adoh, a Jehovah's Witness, grew up in Plum and Lower Burrell and moved to Trumbull, Conn., when she was 19. It was the…

Maureen Reilette was born May 29th, 1950 as the first child of Joseph and Katherine. Rebbie Jackson, like her siblings Janet, La Toya, and Randy, was out of the public eye when her brothers stormed the music world as the Jackson 5. She and La Toya sang in church with their mother and she even won some dance contests with brother Jackie when they were little. Like most eldest children, she often played a caretaker role, looking after her siblings and helping with cooking and cleaning around the house. Rebbie married her childhood sweetheart, Nathaniel Brown, at the age of 18. Rebbie’s first child, Stacee, was born in 1971. In the 70’s Rebbie took her first seriou…

Yesterday our congregation had an "elders and ministerial servants only" party, which really meant they, their wives and their children. I am in a congregation with over 50 brothers who fit this description. I am really disturbed about the trend I am seeing to hold these exclusive parties, especially in view of Jesus' clear direction at Luke 14. I would like to know the opinion of the brothers and sisters in this forum. Does this disturb you? Why or why not, with a scriptural basis. - Sent in via jw-archive.org

Man has dominated man to his harm.—Eccl. 8:9. Some of the worst atrocities have involved the abuse of women. Worldwide, about 30 percent of women report having been assaulted by a male partner. Males are favored in some societies because it is thought that they will grow up to continue the family line and care for their aging parents and grandparents. In certain lands, females are considered undesirable children, and far more baby girls than baby boys are aborted. The mistreatment of women certainly does not please God. He treats women justly and respects them. Jehovah’s regard for women is evident from the fact that Eve was created perfect and with characteristics t…
