You should know well the appearance of your flock.—Prov. 27:23. Shepherds in ancient Israel led a rigorous life. They not only had to endure heat and cold but also had to protect their flocks from predators, both animal and human. Shepherds inspected the sheep regularly and treated any that were sick or injured. They gave special attention to the lambs because they were delicate and lacked the strength of full-grown sheep. (Gen. 33:13) In some respects, Christian parents are like shepherds, displaying qualities that are valuable to literal shepherds. A good shepherd carefully examines each sheep to make sure that it is healthy. In a figurative sense, you can do the s…

I do not understand what I am doing. For I do not practice what I wish, but I do what I hate.—Rom. 7:15. Satan knows that we have sinful tendencies, and he tries to induce us to cater to them. It then becomes a formidable challenge to maintain our integrity. (John 8:44-47) Consider the case of a person who becomes so absorbed in the pleasure of the moment that he ends up doing something wrong that he thought he would never do. What led up to this sad situation? Likely, the individual had gradually been losing sensitivity to Jehovah’s voice. Either he failed to notice the warning signs regarding what was happening to his heart or he chose to ignore them. For example, …

Amazing True Story of a Mother...... Mom's love is great ❤ When Carolyn Isbister put her 20oz baby on her chest for a cuddle, she thought that it would be the only chance she would ever have to hold her. Doctors had told the parents that baby Rachel only had only minutes to live because her heart was beating once every ten seconds and she was not breathing. Isbister remembers: I didn’t want her to die being cold. So I lifted her out of her blanket and put her against my skin to warm her up. Her feet were so cold. It was the only cuddle I was going to have with her, so I wanted to remember the moment.” Then something remarkable happened. ;o) The warmth…

The other side.... A father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. Trying to keep her busy, he tore out one page on which was printed the map of the world. He then tore the page into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again. He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done. But the little one came back within minutes with the perfect map… When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, “Oh… Dad, there is a man’s face on the other side of the paper… I made the face perfect to get the map right.” She ran outside to play leaving the father surprised. Reflection: Th…

I recently saw a JW pioneer couple post this ad on GoFundme This is from part of the ad - We are moving to another state to assist a small Spanish-speaking congregation. For anyone who's ever moved you know how stressful and expensive this can be. But we feel confident that our Heavenly Father is behind us and that He can touch the heart of others to assist us in practical ways! We are the Brandons, Will and Theresa. We have been engaged in an International Bible educational work for the past 30 years now. Presently we are full-time preachers known as pioneers in the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A pioneer spends a minimum of 70 hours a month declaring the…

"You don't go to church in a Kingdom Hall" was stated during the public talk yesterday. The speaker then elaborated that "people who go to church, go to fulfill a spiritual obligation. Those coming to the kingdom hall are coming to learn."

The recent hailstorm in Del Rio Monday night caused many to reevaluate the safety of their homes and their current living situations. Window, roof and electrical damages have citizens wishing they were more prepared for this natural disaster. However, the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses’ completion of its replacement roof was finished just in time for the damaging weather. When Polish pianist Ignace Paderewski toured America, he became a celebrity - and boosted Steinway. Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother took her boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her. Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way through a door marked "NO ADMITTANCE." When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing. Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focuse…

Churchill's Hat..... The English statesman Winston Churchill was British prime minister from 1940 to 1945 and a second time from 1951 to 1955. During his reign England was during the 2nd World War temporarily alone against Hitler's Germany and its allies. Churchill's achievements in England are undisputed. Churchill was once criticized. He then announced in the House: "The kind of criticism, as I found them in the newspapers, always reminded me of the story of the sailor who jumped into the harbor of Plymouth, to save a little boy from drowning. A woman later spoke to the sailors, 'Are you the man who has my son recently pulled from the water'? 'Yes,' the sai…

From among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.—Acts 20:30. Sadly, the original Christian congregation gradually became corrupted. (Acts 20:29; 2 Pet. 2:2, 3; Jude 3, 4) As indicated by Jesus, such apostasy, promoted by “the wicked one,” Satan, would grow and obscure true Christianity until “the conclusion of the system of things.” (Matt. 13:37-43) Then Jehovah would enthrone Jesus as King over the world of mankind. That happened in October 1914, marking the beginning of “the last days” of Satan’s wicked system. (2 Tim. 3:1) Modern-day anointed Christians pointed in advance to October 1914 as a significant…

Look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others.—Phil. 2:4. Paul urged all Christians to “look out” for the interests of fellow believers. The essence of Paul’s counsel is that we should observe the gifts that others have and acknowledge them. (Phil. 2:3) How do we feel when someone shows interest in the progress that we have made? Usually, it stimulates us to make additional progress, bringing out the best in us. Likewise, when we acknowledge the value of our fellow believers, we help them to thrive and grow spiritually. All of us need special attention from time to time. Still, young or newly baptized brothers really need to sense tha…

I will come against those living in security.—Ezek. 38:11. How will God respond to satanic efforts to destroy his people? Jehovah will intervene in their behalf, exercising his right as Universal Sovereign. Jehovah considers an assault on his servants to be an attack on him. (Zech. 2:8) Therefore, our heavenly Father will take prompt action in order to rescue us. That deliverance will come to its climax with the destruction of Satan’s world at Armageddon, “the war of the great day of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 16:14, 16) Regarding Armageddon, Bible prophecy states: “Those slain by Jehovah in that day will be from one end of the earth clear to the other end of the earth…

The Jehovah’s Witnesses are probably wishing they had sold their Brooklyn world headquarters with its giant Watchtower signage a year ago instead of now. Sources say their 733,000-square-foot multi-building package at 17-29 Columbia Heights and 18-36 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn will end up being sold for $220 million-plus — but not the nearly $300 million it could have fetched in 2015 before the economy started rumbling. According to the spies, those that submitted bids include East End Capital, Westbrook Partners, Vornado Realty Trust, Tishman Speyer Properties, L&L Holdings and Savanna. The Witnesses are moving to upstate New York and have already so…

Little Madison Mason was born with Down syndrome and a heart condition that required open heart surgery. "I was devastated. It was overwhelming," her mother Tiffanie Mason told CBS News. The surgery typically requires a blood transfusion, but that was against the family's religious beliefs as Jehovah's Witnesses. "We want the best treatment possible for her, just without blood. So then we had to look at other avenues," Mason said. Madison's doctors at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey agreed to perform the operation without a blood transfusion -- something they had never done in someone so young. Instead, they gave her natural hormones and iron infusion…

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses (those that speak English as their first language) seem to hate the language so much? I've been in the Truth for over 50-years, and every time language comes up during a meeting, somebody makes a comment about how much better ancient Hebrew was than the English we speak today, even though the article just said, "Jehovah doesn't care". He can use any language. Does that occur in languages other than English? - George, USA
