If memory serves, I bought five copies of “Dissent on the Margins” from Amazon.com.

A “PayPal” account makes impulse purchases easy.

I would suggest to Dmitar that he go to Amazon and read the book reviews …. There are 15 of them, and hope that “someday”, there will be a cure for high functioning total cluelessness.

Well, by this ridiculous reasoning, the Bible itself is not a “spiritual treasure.” It is a “document (paper)”

Why seek one? Show yourself too spiritual to seek mere physical objects.

You are comparing the word of God to the words of men ?

And actually it would seem that many people do not even use a paper bible any more, they use their cell phones or tablets.

So the 'paper copy' is not important, it's the content of it that is important.

No one has the original writings, we all have coppies. So why isn't the GB satisfied with copppies of those documents ?

And this period of time was when the Leaders were telling lies about the Romans scripture concernigthe Superior Authorities, and by doing so, causing harm to thousands of people.

It's sad that former Jehovah's Witnesses really don't understand what the body of Christ is and represents. It's even sadder, there are Jehovah's Witnesses that think along the same line.

The Body of Christ is ONLY the True Anointed ones. A body can only consist of a certain number of body parts. And that number in this case is 144,000.

The number of the 'earthly class' is not known which proves they are not part of the Body of Christ.

God uses words that humans can understand, hence the word 'Body'. Christ is the Head, and the 144,000 are that Body.  But we know it is not physical, it is spiritual.

Therefore, a Christian must have faith in GOD on whom he selects to be his earthly representatives with responsibilities. Man cannot fault God for man's imperfection when an earthly representative turns out to be weak.

But the Pope says he is selected by God. Archbishops say they are selected by God. And you say that no one should question those selected by God. You would say that no one should judge those selected by God.

So, wow, every religion, in your eyes, has someone sellected by God :)

So how do you decide who you think is really selected by God ?

From my viewpoint it is 'By their works you will know them'. And the works of Watchtower / JW Org Leaders are not good.

I think the way “selection by God” is usually determined is what kind of costume they wear.

The Popes are always bent over at a thirty degree angle because they are wearing 25 pounds of clothes, lots of gold, and a very tall 15 pound hat.

I think those having God’s approval should wear striped bermuda shorts, and a welder’s helmet with a red clown nose.

Considering the outfits the Jews used to wear in the Temple, it would be a step up!

I wonder if that includes a clueless hot dog!

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. Psalm 116:7
THE Christian's habit of thought has much indeed to do with his spiritual progress or retrogression, as it is also an index of his spiritual state; and good habits of thought need to be carefully cultivated. By "habit of thought" we mean that normal condition to which the mind habitually returns in the moments of mental leisure. While engaged in the active duties of life we must of necessity bend our mental energies to the work in hand, for if we do anything merely mechanically and without concentrating thought upon it we cannot do it well; yet even here Christian principle, well established in the character, will unconsciously guide. But when the strain of labor and care are lifted for a time, the established habit of thought, like the needle to the pole, should quickly return to its rest in God.

I can see where @Patiently waiting for Truth, @Pudgy the vampire mutt, and @xerowould fit the profile. As always, the generosity of present Jehovah's Witnesses coming together with former Jehovah's Witnesses to regal the visitor with their stellar minds. Classic!

I guess ignorance is a bliss for woeful fools. But then again, finding an interest to solely fulfil their dissertation is nothing new. Sometimes you can even find such books among apostate books in apostate sites.

The simplest answer from stellar minds is HUH! Like goofy. To some, the editors are forgotten.

In the very first issue of the watchtower magazine there was an article written by Russell under the initials CTR where and he stated with perfect logic and reasoning that if Satan himself tells you the truth, it’s still the truth.

I suppose it’s like the Nazis used to torture people for medical experiments and produced an ethical problem because some of this research that they did turned out to produce extremely valuable medical information.

do you not use it to save lives, because of its source?

The development of the atomic bomb and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed perhaps a half-million people, men, women, children, and animals but the knowledge received from learning to work with radiation even though gained with the spending of the souls of these people has resulted in medical practices that in the last 70 years has saved hundreds of times of more people than were killed in war. …. . On all sides, by everyone involved.

Using the combat experience gained in the battles on Okinawa and other Pacific islands it was estimated that the invasion of Japan to destroy their war capability would’ve cost 1 million Allied lives, and 4 million Japanese lives just in the military.

The military made enough purple hearts to cover these expected combat casualties and they were not used, and these medals which celebrate that the enemy can’t shoot very well are still being used today for combat casualties, those that are wounded.

So the fact that someone gets the truth from an apostate site, that is impossible to get from jw.org it’s not a bad thing…… It’s the only thing there is.

Or, you could wallow in ignorance and base your life on prepared Pablum, and have it spoonfed to you like any baby.

I see the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society as God’s people, in spite of themselves.

Because all organized religion is a snare and a racket when they start accumulating real estate it appears there are no exceptions.

But because the Ark of Jehovah’s Witnesses is riddled with holes does not mean it’s better outside where the sharks swim.

It does provide some protection that you cannot get elsewhere, all things considered.

    • Clearly, they are already demanding your exile. Yes! It's unfortunate that Pudgy spoiled a great discussion about science. I hope the discussion can continue without any more nonsensical interruptions. Just a suggestion since they are on your heels. Wow! You speak! It seems you have a lot to say! Now they are going to treat like, who do you think you are, mister big stuff! Are those aliens now going to imply that anyone who speaks out against the five or six key contributors to this site will be treated as though it is George just because those in opposition speak the language they hate to hear, the TRUTH? They are seeking individuals who will embrace their nonconformist values and appreciate what they can offer in shaping public opinion contrary to the established agenda of God and Christ. Their goal is to enhance their writing abilities and avoid squandering time on frivolous pursuits, mainly arguing about the truth they don't care for. They see it all as a mere game, even when leading people astray. They believe they have every right to and will face no biblical repercussions, or so they believe. They just want to have fun just like that Cyndi Lauper song. Be prepared to be belittled and ridiculed, all the while they claim to be angels. Haha! By the way, please refrain from using the same language as George. They appear to believe that when others use the same words, it means they are the same person, and they emphasize this as if no one else is allowed to use similar grammar. It seems they think only they have the right to use the same or similar writing styles. Quite amusing, isn't it? See, what I just placed in bold, now I'm George, lol! Now, let's leave this nice science thread for people that want to know more about science. I believe George left it at "Zero Distance."
    • Nice little thread you’ve got going here, SciTech. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it.
    • It's truly disheartening when someone who is supposed to be a friend of the exclusive group resorts to using profanity in their comments, just like other members claiming to be witnesses. It's quite a ludicrous situation for the public to witness.  Yet, the "defense" of such a person, continues.
    • No. However, I would appreciate if you do not reveal to all and sundry the secret meeting place of the closed club. (I do feel someone bad stomping on Sci’s little thread. But I see that has already happened.)
