Notwithstanding the fact that every word of this letter has been made public, I am of the opinion that a facsimile of it should have never been published and request that it be deleted.  I have no problem with the contents of of the letter being quoted word for word, but the facsimile should be deleted.

Facsimiles of letter to the elders should never be posted on sites like this, no matter what the content.

Why?

I think that they should .... It gives greater credibility to the authenticity of the information being relayed, and I believe EVERYTHING that we do, down to the last jot and tittle of minutiae, should be public, open, transparent, and that we should be PROUD of it!

It is my opinion that the Watchtower's films and publications should be copied for the whole world to see .... after all ... they were made with monies contributed in part by those who are NOT Witnesses.

Can you imagine Jesus ticked off about someone spreading what is TRUE, just because they did not travel in the circles of Jesus and the Apostles?

 I cannot.

In fact, I seem to remember the Apostles had the same concerns you have ..... and Jesus' actual reply.

(Matthew 12:25-30) . . .Knowing their thoughts, he said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself comes to ruin, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 In the same way, if Satan expels Satan, he has become divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand? 27 Moreover, if I expel the demons by means of Be·elʹze·bub, by whom do your sons expel them? This is why they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by means of God’s spirit that I expel the demons, the Kingdom of God has really overtaken you. 29 Or how can anyone invade the house of a strong man and seize his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Only then can he plunder his house. 30 Whoever is not on my side is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

(Mark 9:38-42) 38 John said to him: “Teacher, we saw someone expelling demons by using your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said: “Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one who will do a powerful work on the basis of my name who will quickly be able to say anything bad about me. 40 For whoever is not against us is for us. 41 And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, I tell you truly, he will by no means lose his reward. 42 But whoever stumbles one of these little ones who have faith, it would be better for him if a millstone that is turned by a donkey were put around his neck and he were pitched into the sea.

In the CONTEXT of what Dennis Gilman had said.... THIS was the Scripture I had in mind.

As I said, I have no problem with quoting the contents of the letter for the very reasons you all  have stated.  Notwithstanding that, my objection is to the posting of the facsimile.  It is unnecessary and totally inappropriate to use the facsimile to give "greater credibility to the authenticity of the information being relayed".

Whoever did that, please remove the facsimile and replace it with a quote; even if it is verbatim.

Well ... I do have a problem with removing the facsimile,  for the reasons I have stated previously, and further, find it completely necessary and appropriate that it be shown as is by whoever the original poster was.

In order to censor information with prior restraint there has to be a clear and present danger of consequences far beyond anything you have previously stated ... because you FEEL it is unnecessary and inappropriate.

What if I said I FEEL it is unnecessary and inappropriate that you have a profile photograph with eye glasses?  I may FEEL strongly that like Clark Kent, you are trying to HIDE your identity by wearing eye glasses ( .. a stupid idea, I even thought so when I was young and reading Superman Comic Books ...).

You are not in Kansas, anymore, Dennis .... you are in a land that if you come up with something stupid and foolish ... BECAUSE you "feel" it is inappropriate, your prerogatives  are laughed at ...

Oh, and by the way.... you STILL have NOT answered the question WHY.

There has to be a reality based hard fact nitty-gritty, down where the rubber meets the road REASON ... OTHER than how you "feel".

That is why I asked you WHY.

Snowflakes that pout and whine when things don't suit them is not a reason that rational people will respond to,  except in certain venues.

You are not in Kansas, anymore.

If we do it YOUR way, it is one foot on the slippery slope to tyranny, ignorance, and injustice by the clueless, confusing cultural preferences as justifiable overreaching and arrogant edicts to others ... having the very best motives ... as they think they are doing the will of Jehovah.

There is too much of that "going around".

That is why in Europe, after spending a billion hours in Field Service in 2017 ... there is a net loss of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Rational, sane people who love Liberty and Truth do not like the "Everything that is not permitted, is forbidden." philosophy.

It creates rebellion where there was none before.

If we could manage to abandon that and similar ingrained cultural philosophies, we would not have to knock on THEIR doors ..... THEY WOULD BE KNOCKING ON OURS!

This is WHY this facimile should stand as presented.

Oh ... and one last very real reason the facsimile is BETTER ... it gives increased confidence that the information has not been "quote mined", as people who lack integrity do to try and make a point that agrees with their agenda, when the author did NOT mean what was presented in the "quotation".

Agenda driven Quote Mining out of context, is INTENDED to deceive, and is flat out EVIL.

If you have an argument to the contrary, this is the place to insert it into the Arena Of Ideas for trial by combat ... and see if it holds up to rational scrutiny .

I would like to read  it.

You keep your view and I will keep mine.  A facsimile is inappropriate in my opinion.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with holding that opinion.

What is WRONG is when you expect others to adopt it, without telling them real and valid reasons to do so.

For SOME people ... a real and valid reason MIGHT be because you are cute, and they like you.

For me ... that just does not cut it.

I need to know ......

WHY? !

Since I have already said that you can keep your opinion, tat already shows that I don't expect you to agree with nor adopt my opinion.

As for why:  It begs the question; Where is the limit?  Or are you saying that it is O.K. to just post a facsimile of any letter to the elders?  I guess that your opinion is yes, because you state that you " believe EVERYTHING that we do, down to the last jot and tittle of minutiae, should be public, open, transparent, and that we should be PROUD of it!".  I will forever disagree with that!

Why?

You certainly have the right to have any opinions you want that do not have a rational basis for adopting ... but by definition, please realize that to have no rational reason ....  makes you by your OWN defining precepts, an irrational person.

If Christ has ALREADY come to Earth as an invisible presence, and is ruling as King NOW ......  starting in 1914 ...... why are we still celebrating the Memorial?

As the one-year anniversary of Chester Bennington's death approaches, his widow Talinda has compiled a list of all official memorial services worldwide. "There are so many beautiful memorials planned all around the WORLD in honor of Chester," she wrote in a tweet. "I wanted to share them with you."
She shared a link to a Google document that gives further context around the list and #LPMemorial2018. "The main purpose of this hashtag is to find the memorials specific to the one year of Chester’s passing, but also to simply separate upcoming events from the past ten months, as the hashtag took off beyond our expectations,"

The Memorial of Christ is not the Last Supper that the world continues to celebrate. The Last Supper can also be rendered the Last Passover Meal. The Jewish Day began at Sunset.  Since the Sun sets at various times, the Passover Supper would begin after the Sun disappeared from the Horizon with darkness setting in. The Last Passover Meal was Nisan 14th, 33 CE with the abolishment of the Old Covenant.
When evening came, he was reclining at the table with the 12 disciples. ?While they were eating, he said: “Truly I say to you, one of you will betray me.” (

So Jesus said to him: “What you are doing, do it more quickly.”  ( Hello guest! SCENARIO:  You are at a packed Kingdom Hall on Memorial night, and ten minutes into the remembrance talk, six masked people with weapons enter the Kingdom Hall and begin shooting everyone they can, without any conversation.
You are shot in the left side of your face and most of those teeth are gone.
Before you know what is going on twelve Brothers and Sisters have been shot, screaming and panic ensues, and there is blood and bodies and brains all over, and the shooting continues.
Would it be fitting for a Brother  to use his handgun to return fire on the murderers to try and save his own life, or the lives of his Brothers and Sisters?
Or, in PubSpeak ... "Would it be fitting for a Christian to keep a firearm, such as a handgun or a rifle, for protection against other humans?" ( July 2017 Watchtower )
This raises MANY Theocratic, moral, ethical, legal, and Societial policy questions ... all of which have REAL answers.
What is the RIGHT thing for a responsible Christian to do?

Jehovah's Witnesses commemorate Christ's death as a ransom or "propitiatory sacrifice" by observing the Lord's Evening Meal, or Memorial. They celebrate it once per year, noting that it was instituted on the Passover, an annual festival. This is the only celebration the Bible commands Christians to observe.

Of those who attend the Memorial, a small minority worldwide partake of the unleavened bread and wine. This is because Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the majority of the faithful have an earthly hope. Only those who believe they have a heavenly hope, the "remnant" (those still living) of the 144,000 "anointed", partake of the bread and wine. In 2014, the number of persons who partook worldwide was 14,121, whereas the number who attended was 19,950,019.

The Memorial, held after sunset, includes a talk on the meaning of the celebration and the circulation among the audience of

They do not believe in transubstantiation or consubstantiation. Because many congregations have no members who claim to be anointed, it is common for no one to partake of the bread and wine.

The Jewish day begins at sundown and extends until the following sundown. So Jesus died on the same Jewish calendar day that he instituted the Memorial. The beginning of the month of Nisan was the sunset after the new moon nearest the spring equinox became visible in Jerusalem. The Memorial date is 14 days thereafter. (Thus the date for the Memorial may not coincide with that of the Passover kept by modern-day Jews. Why not? The start of their calendar months is set to coincide with the astronomical new moon, not the visible new moon over Jerusalem, which may come 18 to 30 hours later. Also, most Jews today keep the Passover on Nisan 15, not on the 14th as did Jesus in harmony with what was stated in the Mosaic Law.)

Memorial is always held on the first full moon after March 21st. It's always a full moon because Memorial is always held 14 days after the new moon. Hebrew months start on the new moon (the new month). Therefore Nisan 14 is always a full moon (+- 24 hours).

Talk: The Last Hours of Jesus Christ
Particularly beginning in the 1930’s, prospective members of the “great multitude,” or “great crowd” of other sheep, began to manifest themselves. (Rev. 7:9, 10, KJ; John 10:16) These were at that time referred to as Jonadabs. For the first time, in its issue of February 15, 1938, The Watchtower specifically invited them to be present at the Memorial, saying: “After six p.m. on April 15 let each company of the anointed assemble and celebrate the Memorial, their companions the Jonadabs also being present.” They did attend, not as partakers, but as observers.
