Is the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses ‘Inspired’?

”Jehovah leads and feeds those in the earthly part of his organization by means of “the faithful and discreet slave” under the direction of Christ, the “head of the congregation.” w16 November pp. 14-18

If these men were “inspired”, the above statement would be true.  It takes inspiration from Holy Spirit, for them to receive Christ’s direction. Spirit must be infused in the person to guide them in the way of Christ; but we have it in print, that it is not the case with the GB. 1 John 2:4; 1 John 3:24

Instead, they rely on the voting system. It once was a required two-thirds majority in favor of passing new rules or doctrine; which at least you could understand that individuals had the freedom to reject an idea; although I was shocked that voting was even considered.  Now, the GB must be 100 percent in agreement when passing new rules/doctrine.

How many teachings of past leaders have been rejected by today’s leaders?  How far back does it go, that Wt’s leaders were not inspired?  Whether two-thirds or 100 percent needed to agree on doctrine by men admitting to not having inspiration, it is apparent that it began with Russell.

Maybe this new GB member is not rule-oriented, but it really doesn’t matter.  He must go with the flow, and it may be a rude awakening for him.

These scriptures have spiritual fulfillment today:

“Jesus called them over and said, “You know that the rulers (elder body) of the Gentiles (those not anointed) lord it over them,

and those in high positions (GB) act as tyrants over them.

It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you (among the anointed chosen Body of Christ, since Jesus was speaking to his future apostles) must be your servant*, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave*;  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Matt 20:25-28

*This is not the practice with the GB.  They authorize their appointed rulers (elder body) to judge their fellow anointed slaves as not worthy of spiritual life.  Are they serving their brothers in Christ, or condemning them through acts of tyranny?  Matt 24:48-51; 1 John 2:9-11; James 2:4  Uninspired men fabricate rules and doctrine that every JW must obey, and it is called guidance from God through Christ – or from a “spirit-directed organization”.  I imagine in my mind a looming spiritual power within the world since that is where it is physically built and seen, breathing a spirit, but not from the Almighty God.  1 John 2:15-17; Eph 2:1,2; Rev 13:11-15

Without holy inspiration, in what manner does God and Christ guide the organization?  The GB? The members?  It can be said a thousand times that God directs the organization, the “faithful slave”, the elder body – yet one slip of truth will wipe out each and every one of those false claims.  That being, the Governing Body is not inspired by Holy Spirit; and if they are not inspired by God's spirit, neither is the organization.    1 John 2:27,18,19; Mal 3:18; Matt 24:4,5

Check it out... Which change was the result of Christ's direction and not the Wt leaders' own understanding?

We ASK for Holy Spirit on matters. We ASK and He gives. So those asking receive.

If I think outside of bible teaching on a matter....I will sit with the brothers. Prior to diving into the discussion they(the brothers) will pray for His Holy Spirit so that I may see for myself the biblical principles on the matter. So when 2 or more come together to pray.....HE IS THERE WITH US.

I forgot, what were you saying?

It isn't a rejection of past teachings...It is a change in teaching. Better yet, it is a change in the understanding.  How many Surgeon  Generals warnings have been rejected by new Surgeon  Generals? How many doctors rejected the course of treatment that was ONCE considered normal procedure? Remember when chlorine was considered the ingredient to kill any germ in swimming pools?

As we grow...go further, things change. Either it is because we got smarter or we finally understood what we(Jehovah) already knew(was telling us thru His Holy Spirit)

Everyone is inspired.

Is Jehovah  picking certain ones to tell things to?

Yes He is. Reading that bible is like talking to God.

Is Jehovah  ONLY inspiring Jehovah Witnesses?

No....anyone can seek Him and He can, will and does give direction to all those seeking THRU His Holy Spirit.

Is the GB INSPIRED to learn more, seek direction thru His Word?

YES!!!

Are answer to questions handed to the GB? Does Jehovah talk out decision with the GB?

I honestly don't need to reply to that do I?

This is minor....Thru Jesus we were able to come to Jah thru prayer. We have that HELPER...so with that we are 10x closer to Him.

His inspired Word

We have inspirations

Because of Him we were inspired to dig a little deeper.

This isn't a smack in the face.....this fortified the love He has for mankind. Even the greatest is least.

So every changed teaching; say, about “this generation”, or failed Armageddon dates, was a gift from Christ, because the governing body ASKED for Holy spirit on the matter.

Or, did they forget to ask?

Maybe they are like surgeon generals, or doctors, who cannot lead a spiritual nation because they are not blessed to do so, (unless either one is an authentic "faithful and discreet slave").

If an anointed one “remains” in Christ, they can ONLY produce good fruit.  Changed doctrine is bad fruit.  There is no in-between or middle road.  Matt 12:33-37  Notice, these anointed “trees”, “will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Good and perfect gifts from the Father are very possible to receive if that anointed one remains close to Christ.  James 1:17; Luke 11:13

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:4,5

Jesus is not speaking about changed teachings; he is speaking about fruit that endures the test of time.  The generation teaching was scrapped – how many times?

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”  John 15:16

Teaching a changed doctrine, or  prophecies failed, is presumptuousness; not sourced in Holy Spirit. It shows what is in the teacher’s heart.  Luke 6:43-45

Remember Prov 3:5-7?  Each doctrine that has to be changed or fails is clear evidence that the governing body lean on their own understanding.

Hmm.....Probably a contradiction buried here. If they did lean on their own understanding, they would be unlikely to change.

The one that indicates that "concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father."

I presume you are talking about what constitutes a "generation" in Jesus prophecy at Matt.24:34?

Well isn't it obvious? We cannot actually know how long the generation Jesus spoke of is until "all these things happen".

If Jesus wanted us to know how many years were meant here, he would have said the number of years wouldn't he surely? So actually trying to put a number to it by convoluted mental gymnastics based on 101 general understandings and comparisons of what constitutes a "generation", Biblical or otherwise, is just a game to play while you're waiting for the bus.

Nice table though , with an excellent theme scripture, very well demonstrated. That, I can use actually. Thanks. ?

    • Should Christians place greater trust in human-created philosophies or should a genuine Christian ground their desires from the scriptural perspective on the frailties of the mind and body? Psychology often falls short when it clashes with personal beliefs, regardless of the intentions behind it. James 1:14, Romans 12: 2 It also acts as a guide to clarify misconceptions, such as labeling "shunning" as an evil act rather than recognizing it as a corrective measure or a personal choice. This suggests a misunderstanding on the part of experts, more so than scholars, regarding psychological matters. The forum is structured around Christian ethics.
