Revelation 11 and 12

The context of Revelation chapter 11 is after the anointed are sealed (hence the measuring) but still on earth.

 

"And a reed like a rod was given to me as he said: “Get up and measure the temple sanctuary of God and the altar and those worshipping in it."

 

After the UN becomes the world power, they will trample Jehovah's organization on earth for 42 months.

 

"But as for the courtyard that is outside the temple sanctuary, leave it out and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city underfoot for 42 months."

 

Zechariah depicts the "two anointed ones" as standing beside Jesus. The transfiguration vision pictures Jesus standing beside "two witnesses" Elijah and Moses. When Jesus takes the throne just before the start of the great tribulation, all the anointed are sealed. He said "I will be with you all the days." Jesus also said "I will give you words and wisdom that all your opposers together will not be able to resist or dispute." The anointed remnant are close to Jesus and he gives them the words to speak. They are the two witnesses.

 

"I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy for 1,260 days dressed in sackcloth. These are symbolized by the two olive trees and the two lampstands and are standing before the Lord of the earth.If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and consumes their enemies. If anyone should want to harm them, this is how he must be killed. These have the authority to shut up the sky so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every sort of plague as often as they wish."

 

The message of judgment against this system of things will be like a plague to those who don't love Jehovah's sovereignty.

 

"When they have finished their witnessing, the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss will wage war with them and conquer them and kill them.  And their corpses will be on the main street of the great city that is in a spiritual sense called Sodʹom and Egypt, where their Lord was also executed on the stake."

 

The United Nations will put an end to the preaching of the anointed remnant. The "great city" is Babylon the Great. Although the institutions of religion (buildings and leaders) will have been destroyed by this point, the worshippers of false religion will still be alive. People will also still be worshipping other kinds of "idols" like governments or lifestyles or philosophies. Jesus was executed by members of false religion who worshipped government and "idols" (the Pharisees and scribes worshipped themselves and philosophy and money and fame). In a spiritual sense, those Pharisees and scribes and the Romans were part of Babylon the Great, which in a spiritual sense is also like Sodom and Egypt in being spiritually immoral and idolatrous.

 

"And those of the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their corpses for three and a half days, and they do not allow their corpses to be laid in a tomb.  And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and celebrate, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those dwelling on the earth. After the three and a half days, spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell upon those who saw them.  And they heard a loud voice from heaven say to them: “Come up here.” And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies saw them. In that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; and 7,000 persons were killed by the earthquake, and the rest became frightened and gave glory to the God of heaven."

 

Some of the "peoples and tribes and tongues and nations" become part of the great crowd. (None of the dead anointed are in heaven yet. Paul wrote that they all go at the same time.) When they see the anointed resurrected and raised to heaven, just like how Jesus was seen on earth after his resurrection and people saw him go up to heaven, there will be a figurative "7,000" who join true worshippers. (Reminiscent of the "there are 7,000 who haven't bent a knee to Baal".) 

 

"The second woe is past. Look! The third woe is coming quickly.

The seventh angel blew his trumpet. And there were loud voices in heaven, saying: “The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.” And the 24 elders who were seated before God on their thrones fell upon their faces and worshipped God,  saying: “We thank you, Jehovah God, the Almighty, the one who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun ruling as king."

 

When the anointed are all raised to heaven, then the kingdom is in place.

 

"But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” And the temple sanctuary of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen in his temple sanctuary. And there were flashes of lightning and voices and thunders and an earthquake and a great hail."

 

The "dead" to be judged are the spiritually dead. Those aware of their spiritual need, even those who just lately learned about Jehovah, (as in "we will go with you for we have heard Jehovah is with you people") will be rewarded.

 

"Then a great sign was seen in heaven: A woman was arrayed with the sun, and the moon was beneath her feet, and on her head was a crown of 12 stars, and she was pregnant. And she was crying out in her pains and in her agony to give birth."

 

Again, another vision, different viewpoint of the same thing; the birth of the kingdom. The woman is God's "wife", the faithful angels in heaven. Paul said "Jerusalem above is our mother." (The kingdom was not born in 1914. It was not born until all the anointed were sealed.)

 

"Another sign was seen in heaven. Look! A great fiery-colored dragon, with seven heads and ten horns and on its heads seven diadems;  and its tail drags a third of the stars of heaven, and it hurled them down to the earth."

 

Satan was not cast out of heaven in 1914 either. He is not cast out until Jesus takes the throne, which isn't until after all the anointed are sealed.

 

"And the dragon kept standing before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth, it might devour her child. And she gave birth to a son, a male, who is to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod."

 

The "son" here is the entire 144,000. This son is "born" when all the anointed are sealed. (They were not all sealed in 1914.)

 

"And her child was snatched away to God and to his throne.  And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God and where they would feed her for 1,260 days."

 

Though still on earth, the sealed anointed ones are under Jehovah's care. The Devil wants to destroy them, but Jehovah takes the kingdom heirs under his authority and protection. Just like Jesus said "I am with you all the days", so the angels are also with us all the days. They are with us "in the wilderness" of this system. That is why Jesus wrote the message of Revelation "to the angels of the congregations." The angels will not leave the faithful ones. "She is our mother." There is no way the angels are abandoning their "children"! The 1260 days are the length of the great tribulation.

 

"And war broke out in heaven: Miʹcha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.  I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God!  And they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death.  On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.”"

 

The anointed remnant "conquered" Satan by their witnessing, that is why they are now sealed and why the Devil has been proved a loser and is not cast out. He was not cast out in 1914 because the anointed had not yet been sealed, they had not finished that part of their witnessing. (If he had been cast out in 1914, then the scripture wouldn't have said "a short period of time" because from 1914 to present isn't a short period of time. The scriptures show that from the time Satan is cast out, it will be only 3 1/2 years, which IS a short period of time.)

 

"Now when the dragon saw that it had been hurled down to the earth, it persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.  But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is to be fed for a time and times and half a time away from the face of the serpent."

 

Again, the 3 1/2 years, the angels (the "woman") will feel horrible about the way Jehovah's worshippers on earth are getting treated during the great tribulation. But the faithful ones will be protected during the tribulation, which is like being in the "wilderness" (like how Jehovah protected the Israelites in the wilderness all those years, and how Elijah was fed in the wilderness and Jesus.)

 

"And the serpent spewed out water like a river from its mouth after the woman, to cause her to be drowned by the river.  But the earth came to the woman’s help, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon spewed out from its mouth.  So the dragon became enraged at the woman and went off to wage war with the remaining ones of her offspring, who observe the commandments of God and have the work of bearing witness concerning Jesus."

 

Other parts of Revelation show that John was given a little scroll and told to prophesy again to nations. There will still be preaching to do in the great tribulation.

 

The numbers 3 1/2 and 42 months and 1260 days are repeated because it is clear. The time period is clear. You don't have to do fancy calculations. Any kid can figure it out. The great tribulation will be 3 1/2 years. Jehovah hides it from "wise and intellectual" ones and reveals it to kids. Jehovah uses lowly ones to relay messages. Let Jehovah be praised, He is the Source of all wisdom and understanding and glory and might.

The poster was doing very well until the poster confused the sealing of the anointed. 1914 has nothing to do with that impact. Then again, there are several professed witnesses here that feel or are confused or plainly disregard 1914 as meaningful. Therefore, the true nature of 1914 escapes those here.

However, this poster has failed in many arguments to produce evidence of the absolute stance the poster has on the matter, or anyone willing to support this poster.

Since there was an actual recorded historical event on earth in 1914 that's undisputable, how does the poster know that war wasn't raging in the heavens as well?

The context shows the kingdom was not installed in 1914.

 

"The seventh angel blew his trumpet. And there were loud voices in heaven, saying: “The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.” 

 

Jesus waited to take the throne until all the anointed are sealed. Here is what the next verse says:

 

"And the 24 elders who were seated before God on their thrones fell upon their faces and worshipped God,  saying: “We thank you, Jehovah God, the Almighty, the one who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun ruling as king."

 

The kingdom includes both Jesus and his 144,000 corulers, here depicted as the 24 elders.

 

"But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” 

 

The nations haven't shown their wrath against religion yet. Jehovah hasn't shown His wrath against religion yet. Revelation shows that the UN will be allowed to do their one thought which is the same as Jehovah's one thought to destroy Babylon the Great. When Babylon is destroyed, then you will know the kingdom is in place.

 

"And the temple sanctuary of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen in his temple sanctuary. And there were flashes of lightning and voices and thunders and an earthquake and a great hail."

 

The temple sanctuary of God in heaven isn't "opened" to the anointed until they are there. The "flashes of lightning and voices and thunders and an earthquake and a great hail" here are the judgments on this system of things at the end of the great tribulation.

Jehovah told Moses to call for frogs. Frogs came.

 

Jannes and Jambres, the magic practicing priests, called for frogs. Frogs came.

When those taking the lead in the organization prophesied about 1914 and then "something happened", it was the same as Jannes and Jambres and the frogs. It was by the operation of Satan, the ruler of the world, who is pulling the strings behind the governments and is very capable of having false prophets say "1914!" and then have the governments go to war then.

 

Jesus said no man would know the day or the hour when the kingdom would begin. For the men taking the lead in the organization to try to calculate that date was a sin against God and was playing into Satan's hands.

 

When 1914 came and went, those taking the lead said "it was invisible." If it was invisible, then why were there still anointed ones on the earth? Why are they still partaking of the emblems at the Memorial? Jesus said regarding the Memorial, "Keep doing this until I come." If he came in 1914, then why do the anointed still keep partaking? They should be done now, if Jesus came then.

 

Paul said all the anointed go "home" to heaven at the same time. Those anointed ones who have been sleeping in death will be resurrected here on the earth first and then those anointed already living will be transformed and they will all go "home" to heaven together to be with the Lord.

 

The false teaching of 1914 helps us to identify the lawless one. The organization is being used by Jehovah for good, it is the field planted by Jesus. There is wheat and there are weeds. The false teachings and wicked ones are the weeds. The angels are being sent out to remove them when it is the appointed time.

 

Jehovah's Word Always Comes True. Praise Jehovah, the God of Truth.

The "24 elders" in Revelation represent all the anointed, the entire 144,000.

 

How could the entire 144,000 praise Jehovah for the start of the kingdom "in 1914" if not all of the 144,000 were even born yet in 1914?

 

The two newest members of the governing body weren't born yet in 1914. Neither were the others currently serving. How could the "24 elders" praise Jehovah for the start of the kingdom if they weren't even in existence yet?

The wars in 1914 and pestilence were brought on by Satan, the ruler of the world, who seeks to distract true worshippers. He makes lying signs to mislead, if possible, the holy ones.

 

Jesus said NOT to try to figure out the day and the hour the kingdom would begin. Satan tries to get people to disobey Jehovah. When people say "you can calculate the beginning of the kingdom ahead of time, it's 1914!" they are disobeying Jesus' clear command.

 

Jehovah forgives. Those who in error proclaimed a message that was untrue can repent. But it is unwise to continue in the darkness once you see the light.

 

"For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left,  but there is a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a burning indignation that is going to consume those in opposition.  Anyone who has disregarded the Law of Moses dies without compassion on the testimony of two or three.  How much greater punishment do you think a person will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God and who has regarded as of ordinary value the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has outraged the spirit of undeserved kindness with contempt?  For we know the One who said: “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again: “Jehovah will judge his people.”  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

 

Some men taking the lead like to say "1914!" because it supports their form of sovereignty right now. Jesus said we shouldn't be ruling as kings now. We should be brothers. The false teaching of 1914 led to the misapplication of Jesus words about "The Faithful And Discreet Slave" to be used as a title which was never intended by our Lord. The lawless governing body has positioned themselves in the seat of Moses, "as gods in the temple of God." Many elder bodies follow their lead. As a result, many sheep are being abused and scattered.

 

Jehovah has organization. Jesus instituted the Christian congregation. There is the fine seed. The Devil sowed the weeds. They are being removed by angels. Jesus executes judgment with the sword of his mouth.

 

The angels were holding back the winds of destruction on the wicked ones, but now that the anointed are sealed the lawless one is being revealed.

 

"And now you know what is acting as a restraint, so that he will be revealed in his own due time.  True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work, but only until the one who is right now acting as a restraint is out of the way.  Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.  But the lawless one’s presence is by the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and wonders  and every unrighteous deception for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth in order that they might be saved.  That is why God lets a deceptive influence mislead them so that they may come to believe the lie,  in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness."

 

We must choose to obey God as ruler rather than man. Satan has been allowed to sift us as wheat, just as Jesus foretold. We must worship with spirit and truth.

 

"However, we are obligated always to thank God for you, brothers loved by Jehovah, because from the beginning God selected you for salvation by sanctifying you with his spirit and by your faith in the truth.  He called you to this through the good news we declare, so that you may acquire the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.  So, then, brothers, stand firm and maintain your hold on the traditions that you were taught, whether it was by a spoken message or by a letter from us.  Moreover, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness,  comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word."

 

The "traditions" we are taught from the Bible include abstaining from all blood, recognizing that there is a congregation organization arrangement, preaching the truth, and showing love.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 often gets quoted as support for the 1914 doctrine. But what is the context of 2 Timothy 3?

 

It is talking about the last days "in the congregations."

 

In 1914, were there many congregations? Were these things going on in the handful of congregations in 1914: "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal,  having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness,  betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,  having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

 

No. These things were not going on in the handfuls of congregations of the Bible Students in 1914. Are they going on now in the thousands of congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses on earth today? Yes! Why? Because we are now in the last days of this system of things. We weren't in the "last days" in 1914. It's been years since 1914. We are in the "last days" now.

 

What about the ride of the four horsemen that gets used to support 1914? Jesus is the white horse rider with the crown. Once the anointed are all sealed, he takes the throne and immediately starts his ride, just like Jehu going out to destroy Ahab's house. The other horses are reminiscent of the horses in Zechariah. There will be figurative "war" and "famine" and "plague/Death" in the congregation as Jesus' ride shows up false doctrines and wicked ones. The plagues in Egypt showed the idol gods to be impotent and false. It is the same today; Jesus' ride will show who the lawless ones are and their false teachings. "The folly of Jannes and Jambres" will be shown. The weeds will be removed. Faithful ones will "die" to their former false beliefs and come alive to the truth.

 

Satan twists the scriptures. He twisted the 2 Timothy 3 verses and the horsemen verses. The rest of the Bible sheds light on what those verses really mean in context. Satan is a liar and the father of the lie. Jesus rides for truth, and he is exposing false doctrine by means of the sword of his mouth.

 

It is time for judgment to start at the House of God. It is practically the hour. Repent, for the Kingdom is Drawing Near and Jesus is removing every false teaching from God's House! Praise Jehovah!

Wow! If this poster doesn't understand the difficulties the Bible Student era went through and continues to be criticized by many, including some witnesses, by not fully understanding that organization, then there is nothing I can help this poster with its erred assumption. 

Yet, once again, this poster lacks knowledge of what the purpose of 1914 is. It's refreshing to see how this poster's contradiction also corrects the poster. Now, look at 1914 AFTER the time spectrum. Devout followers of Christ.

There were issues back in 1914, but it wasn't as extensive as today. You didn't have sexual abuse in every congregation back then like today. You didn't have "disfellowshippings" which are having "no natural affection" like today in the congregations. It is not the same.

 

2 Timothy 3 is talking about today in the congregations.

 

Jehovah sees all of it. All those "eyes" on the figurative chariot. The angels see, and they are the ones Jesus is going to send out to fix it.

Does this poster understand scripture at all, and those that endured no natural affection in the first century congregations, a reason for the apostles to be so vocal?

This poster is showing nothing more than an "apostate" state of mind, that's all. No reasonable knowledge about scripture. 

• The phrase “without natural affection” comes from one Greek word (astorgos) that is found in only one other place in the Bible– Romans 1:31. It means exactly what it says, “unsociable”, “unloving”, “inhuman”. It is the absence of the kind of love for family that is instinctive.

 

If this poster has an issue with the Watchtower Biblical Bylaws, I recommend this poster find another religion that would be more acceptable, until the poster finds issues with that religion or another part of Christendom.

How many Bible students were there on earth in 1914 in the congregations?

 

How many Jehovah's Witnesses are there on earth today in the congregations?

 

Do you really think those bad behaviors listed in 2 Timothy 3 were as prevalent back then as today? Guns and bombs and shootings at the Kingdom Halls by members of the congregation? Kids getting raped for years by elders while other video taped it? You really think it was that bad in 1914 in the congregations? 

 

How about the verses in the rest of the chapter:

 

"Now in the way that Janʹnes and Jamʹbres opposed Moses, so these also go on opposing the truth. Such men are completely corrupted in mind, disapproved as regards the faith.  Nevertheless, they will make no further progress, for their folly will be very plain to all, as it was with those two men."

 

Would you apply these words to the small exodus of Bible students from Bethel in the years after 1914? If so, what were the "miraculous works" and "wondrous signs" that those ones did who left Bethel shortly after 1914? They didn't do any. The verses in 2 Timothy 3 don't fit.

 

Today, those taking the lead have act like Jannes and Jambres by adhering to prophecies that aren't true. Jannes and Jambres called for frogs and frogs came, but they couldn't duplicate the later plagues. The governing body claims "the Bible Students said 1914, and then WWI came and pestilence!" Just like Satan made frogs for Jannes and Jambres, so Satan pulled the strings for those wars. It's right in that "Why Study the Bible- Full Length" video. We know from the book of Job what else the wicked one is capable of. Death, pestilence, trouble. "Lying signs to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones."

 

Russell was going against Jesus' clear command to keep on the watch without knowing the day or hour the kingdom would take power. Because Russell disobeyed and tried to calculate that date, he was caught in a trap of the Devil that the organization has been stuck in ever since. Russell was not a bad man. Just like some leaders in ancient Israel did many good things but still left the high places for people to worship on, or someone kept worshipping the ephod or whatever, so it's the same today. The wheat and the weeds are both in the congregation.

 

The folly of those men who claim "1914!" has been shown. "Last days" is what the verse says, not "last years and years". Do the math. 

 

Jehovah's Witnesses are the organization Jehovah is using. He has allowed His Name to be on it. But the many false doctrines and anti-Christ teachings and behaviors will be removed.

 

Cling to Jehovah and His Name and love for your brother, the wheat, but don't cling to the weeds.

 

(As regards "disfellowshipping", in a family it is not standard operating procedure to "execute" or "drive out of the house" ones brothers and sisters. Only the parents have that authority. The judges in ancient Israel had different jobs than the judges in the congregation today, just like Gary Breaux explained from the scriptures in the recent morning worship. The judges in the Christian congregation do not have authority to drive off or socially "execute" anyone. The verse in 2 John about "not saying a greeting" is worded differently in the Kingdom Interlinear. It means not to encourage someone in their wrongdoing. The translators of the NWT were trying to support their disfellowshipping doctrine which was already in place when the NWT was made. You can have organization without disfellowshipping. Disfellowshipping is an anti-Christ doctrine, soon to be removed.)
